Chelsea star slapped with £12k fine after driving his £100k Cadillac without valid licence or INSURANCE

CHELSEA striker David Fofana has been ordered to pay a total of £12,130 after driving his Cadillac Escalade without a valid licence or insurance.

The 22-year-old, currently playing on loan in Turkey, was stopped in the £100,000 SUV by police in Chessington, Surrey, in February.

Lavender Hill JPs, in South West London, were told the Ivorian had admitted the offences at an earlier hearing.

He declared a monthly income of £10,000 and was fined £10,000, with a £2,000 surcharge and £130 costs, and given eight penalty points.

He did not attend the hearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court in person.

Prosecutor Laura-Ann Harding said: “At 10.57pm on 20 February 2024 the defendant used a vehicle, namely a Cadillac Escalade, with no insurance covering the use of that vehicle.”

“At the same date, time and place the defendant drove otherwise in accordance with a licence, in that no L plates were displayed and he was not being supervised by an otherwise qualified driver.”

Fofana joined Chelsea from Norwegian club Molde, making his debut in January 2023.

He went on loan to German side Union Berlin before playing 15 times for Burnley last year, scoring four goals.

He is now at Fatih Karagumruk, in Istanbul.
