Checkers have done it again with another cheeky post mocking the Springboks’ opponents. This time, the retailer has thrown shade at Ireland, one of South Africa’s fiercest rugby rivals.
The countries will face off on Saturday, 22 November, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
CHECKERS BACKS SPRINGBOKS, SHADES IRELAND
On their Instagram platform, Checkers shared another post backing the Springboks and shading their test match opponents.
In this week’s addition, the video post featured an AI-generated Springbok strolling into a Checkers Liquor shop where it stopped at a fridge containing Guinness, an Irish stout.
The animal chugged the dark beer before licking its lips.
“Ireland, are you feeling lucky?” read the words across the screen. Checkers then encouraged the Boks with its catchphrase, “give it horns, boys”.
South Africa last played Ireland in back-to-back test matches on home soil last year. While the Boks won their first game at Loftus, they lost their second to their rivals in Durban.
Before that, the Springboks played their fellow boys in green at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in a group stage match.
A WALES OF A GOOD TIME
The Springboks will close out the year with their final game of 2025 against Wales next weekend.
The countries will play on Saturday, 29 November at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
They will return to an exciting schedule in 2026 with matches against England, Ireland, France, and a home series against New Zealand
