Consumers have been urged to check their household cleaning products after the National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced a recall of certain batches of Domestos.
In a statement, the NCC said the recall applies to Domestos Lemon as well as Domestos Summer Fresh 750ml bottles.
Domestos recalled
Unilever, the manufacturer of Domestos, notified the commission of a packaging defect affecting some products manufactured between August and September 2025.
“According to Unilever, some bottles may have a pinhole defect at the bottom, which can cause leakage when pressure is applied,” the NCC said.
The defect may result in product spillage, increasing the risk of skin or surface contact, Jacaranda FM reports.
Suppliers have already begun removing affected stock from retailers and warehouses. Unilever said it is also working with its packaging supplier to ensure the defect does not happen again.
“While the stock might only be with retailers, there is a high possibility that the product may have been distributed for trade,” the commission said.
Consumers who have purchased the affected cleaning products are advised to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
The NCC has also urged the public to remain vigilant and to follow recall notices to avoid potential health or safety risks.
