A popular mall in Cape Town has formally launched its partnership with Gift of the Givers, just in time for the festive season.
Gift of the Givers is a non-governmental organisation in South Africa. It provides disaster relief and humanitarian assistance on both a local and international scale.
In the spirit of Christmas, a new donation drop-off centre has been opened at Cavendish Square in the Claremont suburb.
GIFT OF THE GIVERS’ DONATION CENTRE OPENS
Last weekend, Cavendish’s new donation drop-off centre was officially opened by Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, the founder and chairman of Gift of the Givers.
The centre is located in the P1 parking space, where the former Click and Collect site used to operate.
“We were truly excited to welcome Gift of the Givers into Cavendish Square,” Faizah Behardien, the Centre Manager at Cavendish Square, told IOL.
“Providing a dedicated drop-off point means our shoppers can support their vital work with ease, and we are proud that this space will help the organisation take its incredible relief efforts even further.”
WHAT YOU CAN DONATE
Presently, folks can drop off non-perishable goods at the centre.
These include five-litre bottles of water – which will be used to assist those who have been impacted by the water crisis in the Western Cape town of George – and foods that will provide welcome relief to those in need.
Additionally, you can support Gift of the Givers’ mission by donating a monthly contribution of R50, payable through the centre’s “Back a Buddy” QR code.
GIFT OF THE GIVERS: LOOKING BEYOND THE FESTIVE SEASON
Once December rolls into January, Gift of the Givers is encouraging the public to donate school supplies in aid of disadvantaged learners.
Thereafter, the centre will accept donations depending on various causes, initiatives and emergencies.
So, if you happen to be shopping at Cavendish or you want to spread some festive cheer by giving back to the community – or both! – then be sure to stop by the donation drop-off centre.
