‘Pot kettle black’ – Gary Lineker hits out at Roy Keane over ‘sneaky and nasty’ dig at Alan Shearer to ‘promote podcast’
GARY LINEKER has hit out at Roy Keane for his “sneaky and nasty” dig at Alan Shearer.
The former Match of the Day presenter claimed that Keane’s dig was made to promote his podcast.

Keane, 54, was appearing on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet, when he made the dig.
The Manchester United legend was speaking about Shearer and claimed that the striker had a knack for being “nasty” on the pitch.
He said: “Shearer was sneaky, sneaky elbows.
“I didn’t admire people who were nasty, I don’t like nasty people.”
The comments were shared with Shearer by the likes of Ian Wright and Micah Richards.
Lineker took exception to the dig as he responded to Keane on The Rest Is Football Podcast.
He said: “It’s amazing what rival pods will do to try and get a bit of PR.”
Despite the dig, Shearer did not seem to be bothered by Keane’s opinion of him.

He added: “Someone sent me that the other day, and then Micah [Richards] sent me it and Wrighty [Ian Wright] and we had a laugh.
“I mean, really, come on.”
Lineker then joked that Shearer is “living in his head” before the Premier League record scorer said: “Sneaky and nasty… I mean, some of the tackles, come on.”
Lineker ended the segment with a dig of his own back at Keane.
He said: “Pot, kettle, black, and that kind of stuff.”
Keane and Shearer had a famous bust-up back in 2001 when the Magpies beat United 4-3 at St James’ Park.

The Irishman was sent off after throwing the ball at Shearer after being pushed by the striker.
As Keane hit out, he accidentally knocked the yellow card out of referee Steve Bennett’s hand.
