Sarah Ferguson faces being stripped of honorary title over Jeffrey Epstein scandal
SARAH Ferguson faces losing her Freedom of York honour over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal — just like her ex-husband.
The city’s council will consider the move at its November meeting.

It comes three years after Prince Andrew was stripped of the honour, awarded as a wedding gift in 1987, over links to the disgraced financier.
The Duchess of York, 65, was recently revealed to have sent Epstein a grovelling email after his jail release over child sex offences, calling him her “supreme friend”.
This came after she had publicly apologised in 2011 for accepting £15,000 from him.
York council leader Claire Douglas said: “A Full Council meeting of all City of York councillors next takes place in November.
“Consideration will be given in advance of that meeting to whether a motion to remove the Honorary Freedom title from the Duchess of York is tabled.
“The Honorary Freedom title conferred on the Duke of York was removed in 2022.
“We deplore the links and continued associations with Jeffrey Epstein by those carrying the York title beyond the time the gravity of his crimes became clear.”
On the back of the scandal Fergie has been dumped as a patron by seven charities and she and Andrew have been told they are not welcome at the Royals’ Christmas celebrations.
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing over his links to Epstein, 66, who took his own life in jail while awaiting trial for sex-trafficking charges in 2019.

Strictly’s Shirley Ballas breaks silence on split from ex boyfriend saying she ‘got what she deserved’
STRICTLY Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has abandoned all hope of finding love, saying: “Every relationship has ended up being a disaster.”
The head judge on the BBC show has had two failed marriages and also broke off her long-term engagement with toyboy lover Danny Taylor.

Shirley, who turned 65 earlier this month, announced her split from Danny, 52, in November 2024 and has now admitted she cannot hold on to the men in her life because she is “married” to dance.
She said: “I’m obsessed with what I am and with what I do.
“So it’s not just a job for me.
“I’m married to it.
“That’s probably why I don’t have a relationship.
“I don’t think I’m put on Planet Earth to have a relationship.
“Every relationship has ended up being a disaster.
“With my last boyfriend I thought I’d found The One and that also didn’t work.
“So I’m just going to focus on my family.”
Speaking on relationship guru Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, Shirley opened up about her “rocky life”.
The judge divorced ballroom pro Sammy Stopford in 1984 after four years together.
She went on to marry Corky Ballas in 1985 and was with the dancer until 2007.
Shirley split from theatre performer Danny after six years.
She has also recently endured the torture of having a stalker.
Kyle Shaw, 37, believed the judge was his aunt.
He received a suspended jail sentence and restraining order in April this year.
It was revealed at the weekend that her deciding vote — when a Strictly dance-off result is deadlocked — will now be shared among the other judges after years of her decisions leading to online abuse.
She now wants to withdraw from the spotlight for a quieter life, adding: “I’m going to start to be a bit more insular.
“At 65, I was going to have a big party but I decided I would have it with my driver George, my PA Harry, and my mum.
“We’d have just this quiet, no-noise lunch at Selfridges and a shop around M&S.”

Everton 1 West Ham 1: Jarrod Bowen Hammers’ hero as new boss Nuno salvages point at Toffees’ new fortress
JARROD BOWEN gave Nuno Espirito Santo a precious point just two days after being named West Ham manager at Everton.
The Hammers only appointed the Portuguese coach on Saturday after sacking Graham Potter, and his first task was taking on their greatest manager in recent history in David Moyes.

Michael Keane showed Nuno exactly what his first job should be at the Hammers as he headed home from a recycled set piece.
It was a goal that West Ham fans would have been familiar with during Moyes’ second spell in charge of the club.
The visitors did have some moments in the first half but were unable to really threaten Jordan Pickford’s goal.
Nuno’s side dug in in the second half and found themselves level as Jarrod Bowen’s effort was deflected in by Keane in the 65th minute.
From then on, West Ham looked the most likely to grab a winner but could not find the killer blow to make it a perfect start to Nuno’s reign.

Cop who jammed key down on his computer to make bosses think he was busy while WFH banned for life
A COP who jammed a key down on his computer to make bosses think he was busy while working from home has been banned for life.
Det Con Niall Thubron, 33, used the trick to make it appear he was making lots of keystrokes in his job to bring down organised crime gangs.

Thubron, who has since resigned from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit, was caught out when a counter-corruption unit audited the police network.
A tribunal heard a single character on his keyboard was held down for 45 hours of the 85 hours he was supposed to work between December 3 last year and January 13.
The misconduct panel at Peterlee, Co Durham, yesterday banned him from police work for life.
Durham‘s Chief Constable Rachel Bacon said: “This was a deliberate act and a deliberate breach of standards.
“He knew avoiding work was wrong and key jamming was also wrong, this was a case of deliberate dishonesty.
“There are police officers who are able to work from home.
“To those very few who might look to take advantage of that, this case will be a stark warning that they will be caught and the consequences will be career ending.”
Thubron, a high risk investigations officer with the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU), did not attend the hearing.
He has never explained what he was doing while pretending to be working.
