Matheus Cunha will be perfect for Man Utd and Bruno Fernandes – but only if Ruben Amorim makes crucial signing
IT is safe to say that Manchester United failed to live up to their supporters’ expectations.
They finished in 15th place, well behind the European qualification spots, on just 42 points, and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham to leave them trophyless.

The club have backed new boss Ruben Amorim despite the historically bad results.
That backing does appear to have extended to the transfer market as well.
Brazil star Matheus Cunha is already confirmed to be on board at Old Trafford in a £62.5million arrival from Wolves.
Meanwhile, club captain Bruno Fernandes has opted to stay despite a mega £700,000-a-week offer to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
How exactly Cunha will be used by Man Utd still remains to be seen.
He has played as a striker at points for Wolves but he is not the type to make regular runs behind the defensive line, preferring to drop deeper in order to receive and link play.
That means he is arguably more effective in behind a main striker, which could create an overlap of profiles with the likes of Fernandes.
Below we break down the tactical fit of Cunha at Man Utd under Amorim.

Intelligent movement around the penalty area
It is interesting to note that towards the end of the season we saw Wolves typically play the same tactical shape as Man Utd did under Amorim.
Their 3-4-2-1 shape saw Cunha used either as a 9 or as one of the two attacking midfielders behind the main striker.
In these positions Cunha’s intelligence and movement in the final third and around the penalty area helped Wolves create a lot of threat.
He is very strong when it comes to finding little pockets of space to drop into and attack around the opposition defensive structure.
The Brazilian is also difficult to deal with defensively because when defending deep opposition players will typically be concentrating on being tight and defending the space between the ball and the goal.
Cunha takes advantage of this with sharp movements to outplay defenders and create shooting opportunities.

We believe Cunha would be able to play in a similar kind of role to Fernandes as both are extremely intelligent in the attacking phase of the game.
This would mean, however, that Man Utd would still need to add a new forward to play ahead of him, assuming they decide Rasmus Hojlund is not the long term solution.
This could be an issue solved in the near future with the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
The type of runs Mbeumo makes would be perfect to stretch the length of the pitch and offer passing options or decoys for Cunha to benefit from.
Indeed, the runs Mbeumo makes are extremely close to those of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool and could benefit both Cunha and Fernandes greatly.
With Fernandes being more comfortable as a passer and creator from deeper areas, we should see Cunha acting as the link between the Portugal star and the forward.

Given Fernandes is well known as one of the most aggressive and creative passers in the league he will enjoy having a player like Cunha alongside him to find space in tight areas.
While Cunha is not an out and out striker, his movement and intelligence of positioning around the area will create real threat.
Not just a finisher
Cunha impressed in front of goal last season as he finished with 15 league goals, while he was also able to provide a creative threat for his team
But Cunha has long been seen as more of a creative attacker than a true goalscorer, such as when he was at Hertha Berlin or Atletico Madrid.
The same is true in deeper positions, especially in transition, when Cunha was capable of getting on the ball and play the final line breaking ball to release team-mates.
He was extremely versatile with his positioning as he occupied pockets across the width of the penalty area.

In terms of his on pitch relationship with Fernandes, it will be interesting to see how Cunha interacts with him given their respective preferred creative operating areas.
The 30-year-old is less of a runner and more of a passer which could create disconnects with Cunha due to a lack of vertical runners around him.
With that said, the two should be able to connect deeper with Cunha being the player to make the more aggressive vertical run off the back of that connection.
The issue Man Utd may have is they will essentially have two advanced midfielders without an effective focal point striker to play off of and make the ball stick.

It is all very well for Amorim to add creativity and dangerous passing to their attacking unit.
But they need to ensure that they have the players ahead of the ball that can make the runs to take advantage of those passes.
Decision making and intelligence
Cunha is a player who can become decisive for the Red Devils both in scoring goals and creating chances, and that is down to his supreme intelligence and strong decision making.
This is what makes him such a versatile attacker, and it would therefore be somewhat wasteful to play him as the main striker.
He is far better when allowed to play deeper and underneath a more physical and aggressive striker.

Essentially, Man Utd should be looking to use a striker who can threaten space behind the defensive line.
This should force the opposition defensive line deeper and then we would see Cunha, and Bruno, with more space that they could play in underneath the striker.
The ability of a player to consistently make correct choices in terms of the timing and direction of his runs is something that is hugely underlooked.

Especially given the pace of the modern game and the intensity of the Premier League.
The fact, Cunha always seems to give team-mates what they need at the right time will be hugely beneficial to Man Utd in terms of helping them to unlock opposition teams.
Conclusion
In our opinion signing a player like Cunha off the back of a terrible season will be a real boost for the Red Devils and their fans.
What is critical though, is Cunha is then surrounded with more signings in key areas to give him the support to make the most of his attacking and creative abilities.
Given Man Utd are already looking to add Mbeumo to their ranks, it would suggest an awareness they need to add more options in the attacking third.
It will still be a long summer ahead for Man Utd’s recruitment team.

‘Radical’ new budget ‘supermini’ EV rivalling ‘beast’ Renault & ‘powerful’ Volkswagen is coming to UK in months
A “RADICAL” new budget “supermini” EV, set to rival Renault’s “beast” and Volkswagen’s “powerful” models, is arriving in the UK in just months.”
The Nio Firefly has been confirmed for the European market, with UK sales expected soon.

The Chinese EV offers an impressive 260-mile range and a single rear-mounted 141bhp motor.
The budget electric car is expected to cost around £12,500.
After launching in China, Nio sold 3,680 Firefly models last month, boosting the brand’s overall sales by a whopping 13.1 per cent.
Reports suggest that the Firefly will be available in UK showrooms imminently, according to Autocar.
Qin Lihong, Nio’s president, revealed that it would launch a right-hand-drive variant for the UK by October.
The Chinese car brand is rapidly expanding across Europe, aiming to enter 16 new global markets this year.
It comes after an ultra-ambitious car maker revealed a new budget EV that some claim could rival Tesla.
Little-known Chinese manufacturer Nio is to release a sub-brand called Firefly – which will offer entry-level electric vehicles.
Spy shots have revealed the brand testing a small city-style hatchback, which is tipped to be showcased to the world on December 21 for their so-called Nio Day in Guangzhou, China.
Known for their advanced technology and innovative features, Nio is a relatively new EV startup – established in 2014 and adopting its current name in 2016.
Their first mass-produced car was the ES8, an all-electric SUV, which began sales in June 2018.
Nio also has a family-oriented brand called Onvo, with Onvo L60 the only model currently available for sale under that name.
The new Firefly marque will sit at the bottom of their tier of brands and will focus on small and mid-size EVs.
Automotive outlet CarScoops first revealed the motor back in March, and new photos they obtained revealed it will look like a typical hatchback in size with a short front and rear overhang – resembling the five-door Mini Cooper and BYD Dolphin.
Photos of the Firefly’s interior have also been published by IT Home and CarNewsChina.
Judging by these, it appears it will feature a large central infotainment screen along with a digital instrument cluster – all despite its budget-orientated appeal.
Little else is known about the new hatchback, and it will initially be launched in China before it comes to Europe – although tariff hikes will likely make it pricier than originally planned.
The release of the Firefly could certainly give Tesla something to think about in the future.
Putin warns Trump he ‘will have to respond’ to Ukraine’s daring drone attack in hour-long phone call with president
VLADIMIR Putin has warned Donald Trump he “will have to respond” to Ukraine’s daring drone strike on Russian airfields, the US president revealed.
In a dramatic post on Truth Social, Trump said the Russian tyrant issued the warning during a 75-minute phone call where the pair discussed rising tensions in Ukraine, as well as Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

“It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace,” Trump wrote.
“President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”
The call, confirmed by the Kremlin, follows Operation Spiderweb — a daring Ukrainian drone blitz that wrecked 41 Russian planes across four strategic airfields, in a coordinated assault likened to WWII’s most audacious missions.
Newly released footage from Ukraine shows drone after drone spiralling down onto Putin’s nuclear bomber fleet, turning the aircraft into flaming wrecks.
In one dramatic clip, a drone hones in on a bomber while another lies burning nearby. In another, a row of bombers blazes along the runway.
Ukraine’s intelligence service, the SBU, deployed 117 kamikaze drones, each with its own pilot, targeting the Olenya, Belaya, Dyagilevo, and Ivanovo-Severny air bases — deep inside Russian territory.
The swarm of drones was launched from shipping containers hidden in plain sight, with Russian lorry drivers unknowingly parking them next to military bases.
As civilians watched in disbelief, the containers cracked open and unleashed the aerial assault.
Ukraine said the cost to the Kremlin could reach $7 billion (£5.4bn), wiping out a major chunk of its long-range aviation fleet, including Tu-95MS and Tu-22M bombers and A-50 spy planes.

‘That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen’ people cry as bloke proudly shows off Britney tattoo with VERY awkward error
A BLOKE has left people in stitches after proudly showing off his Britney Spears tattoo with a very awkward error.
The legendary pop artist Britney Spears, 43, has gained worldwide fame thanks to dozens of hits, such as Toxic, Circus, Baby One More Time, as well as some of her iconic phrases.

One such phrase that’s become a favourite for millions of her fans is ”It’s Britney, b**ch”, which kicks off her 2007 track, Gimme More.
And it seems that one man, only known as TikToker @tytanofficial, was so inspired by the tune he decided to dedicate a special inking to the pop princess.
However, the bloke went for a more creative approach – one that was recently shared on social media by fellow TikTok user @essexxink.
Instead of having ”It’s Britney, b***h”’ tattooed on his leg, the ink lover took the opportunity and went for ”It’s Brit(knee), b***c” .
The design starts at the top of his knee with ”It’s Brit”, with the knee serving as ”ney” part – while the rest of it is sitting under the kneecap.
”Look at his tattoo – It’s Brit… b***h,” the woman could be heard saying in the video.
The ink lover then proceeded to explain the logic behind the work, as he was all chuffed with himself and gave the camera a cheeky smile.
‘That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen’
But while the man was clearly happy with the tattoo, the clip soon went viral for all the wrong reasons.
Eagle-eyed social media users soon spotted that something was slightly off with the black inking – as they thought he had tattooed it way above his knee.
”Who’s gonna tell him where the knee lives?” one person commented under the video which has racked up over 900k views in just one day.
”but that can’t be his knee it’s too high up,” another was left in hysterics.
”it’s not even on his knee,” someone else couldn’t stop laughing.
”that’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen,” wrote another viewer.
Which tattoos hurt the most?
Depending on what part of your body you choose to ink, tattoos can range significantly in terms of pain levels.
Some of the most painful areas are those where the skin tends to be thinner or closer to the bone.
Each area has specific factors which contribute to the level of pain.
Ribcage: Thin skin, little muscle, and many nerve endings.
Feet and ankles: Many bones, tendons, and nerve endings close to the surface.
Hands and fingers: Many bones, tendons, and nerve endings, resulting in increased pain during tattooing. Knuckles can be especially painful.
Spine: Proximity of the spinal cord and nerve endings makes it sensitive. Tattooing directly over the vertebrae can be especially painful.
Knees and elbows: Thin skin and little padding between the skin and the underlying bones.
Armpits and groin: High concentration of nerve endings and lymph nodes.
Neck and throat: Thin and sensitive skin, with many nerve endings and blood vessels close to the surface.

But despite the huge amount of mean comments, there were also plenty of those who were fans of the inking – and some were even keen to get a similar design.
”OMG I AM JEALOUS WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT,” wrote a social media user.
”You need Whit knee Houston on the other leg!” someone else suggested.
”i need this,” chimed in another.

Coronation Street star making a comeback to the show 15 years after being killed off – but WON’T be seen on screen
CORONATION Street star Reece Dinsdale is making an epic comeback to the cobbles – 15 years after he was killed off.
The actor played Gail Platt’s fourth husband Joe McIntyre before he met his demise after he tried to fake his death to claim insurance money.

But before ITV fans get excited, Reece won’t be reprising his role – instead he’s taken a job from behind the camera.
Reece has directed tonight’s and Friday’s episodes.
Taking to his X account, he wrote: “Tonight’s episodes of Coronation Street (and both of Friday’s) are directed by yours truly. Loved every second of making them. Hope you enjoy, too!“
Reece confirmed that the episodes were filmed around six to eight weeks ago.
In the comment section, Reece admitted he “loves” being a director on the show as fans shared their excitement ahead of the installments.
In April, Reece revealed he was making a return to the beloved soap.
He revealed he recently directed four episodes that month.
Reece is no stranger to directing Coronation Street and has made eight episodes since 2022.
He has also directed 42 episodes of Emmerdale since 2020, and helmed episodes of shows such as Pitching In, Moving On, and Secrets and Words.
The actor’s gig behind the camera comes after he was forced to defend his career prospects when he left Emmerdale.
In 2024, Reece announced he would be taking a break from directing the soap following the death of his mother.
He told fans: “Following the death of my Ma (& moving house), at 64 I’ve taken a decision to have some time out from work. Many months in fact. I’ve never done that consciously.
“I’ve stuff lined up down the line, so I know that’s easy for me to say. However, I’m loving every bloody second of it!”
Reece also played villain Paul Ashdale on Emmerdale in 2020 for a two-year stint, before he was killed off.
