Reality show winner and pop star ‘unveiled’ as mysterious masked performer President ahead of Download Festival slot

THE identity of a mysterious mask-wearing performer who leads new band President has been revealed ahead of its Download Festival performance tomorrow afternoon.

The hard-rocking act launched its presidential campaign out of the blue earlier this year with a series of cryptic social media posts.

More recently the band announced its first rally (headline gig) is taking place on July 30 at The Garage, London. It quickly sold out.

Two crushing singles, In The Name of the Father and Fearless, are aural manifestos, acting as a rallying cry for rock and metal lovers to pledge allegiance.

Speculation over President’s identity has been rife ever since the first images of its frontman wearing a creepy rubber mask went public.

A place on the Download Festival bill before a physical release indicated the band’s members had some gravitas in the industry.

The consensus is that the singer Busted frontman Charlie Simpson.

President’s songs bear a striking resemblance to Charlie’s trademark gravelly vocals, particularly from his time leading Fightstar in the early noughties.

That band reunited last year for a sellout gig at Wembley Arena to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Charlie won The Masked Singer disguised as a Rhino in 2023, and it seems the experience has inspired him to launch a more serious masked side project.

Not only that, but fans have spotted a gap in the front teeth of the singer, which Charlie is known to have.

Beyond the vocal and facial similarities, though, is the fact that the trademark for President’s music on Spotify belongs to King of Terror.

The sole director for that firm on Companies House is one Charles Robert Simpson, while documents show his wife Anna holds 50 percent share stake in the business.

Though the mystery may be solved, the concept is still creative and refreshing.

Faceless acts aren’t particularly unusual in modern rock – Ghost have been doing it ghoulishly well for years and Download headliners Sleep Token are currently the genre’s biggest poster boys – but President’s committal to its theme remains intriguing.

And mystery still surrounds the remaining members of the group with former Bring Me The Horizon star Jordan Fish and members of Sleep Token and Bullet For My Valentine tipped to be involved.

If you’re at Download this weekend check them out on the Dogtooth Stage at 4.25pm tomorrow.

An image collage containing 1 images, Image 1 shows Man pointing at a display case containing a soccer jersey, letter, and trophy

SIR ALEX FERGUSON spotted an emotional letter he wrote 26 years ago in Rangers’ brand new museum.

Fergie, who spent two years at Ibrox from 1967 to 1969, was given the honour of being the venue’s first-ever visitor.

Some of the most famed items in Rangers’ history are on display in the museum, including a letter from Ferguson.

The letter was one Govan-born Ferguson penned to Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman guided the Teddy Bears to a treble in the 1998/1999 season.

It read: “Dear Dick. Just a wee note to congratulate you and your players on winning the treble.

“I know how difficult it is to maintain the level of fitness and determination to achieve all three trophies, but your players carried out the task with great style.

“Please pass on my sincere good wishes to all your staff.

“Yours sincerely, Sir Alex Ferguson.”

Ferguson appeared to be emotional as he looked at the letter and the rest of the Gers memorabilia.

One wrote on X: “Brilliant to see Fergie looking so well, and nice to see him at Ibrox.”

Another said: “Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.”

And another said: “Should have given this man the Rangers Manager Job.”

One remarked: “Take good care of the boss.”

Another chimed in: “Legend.”

Rangers ended the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season in second place, 15 points behind bitter rivals Celtic.

Axed Love Island star slams online death threats after being kicked off the show for racist slurs

AN axed Love Island star has slammed online death threats after being kicked off the show for racist slurs.

Yulissa Escobar, 27, was cut from the villa off-camera in just the second episode of the season, before any of her fellow Islanders had even woken up.

She had been an original islander for season 7[/caption]

She had been an original islander on season 7 of Love Island USA, which launched earlier this month.

Her exit came after old podcast clips emerged on Reddit, showing Yulissa using the N-word while talking about her ex-boyfriends.

The former islander has now fired back at online trolls, in an Instagram post titled “Accountable, Not Erased”.

She penned: “People swear cancel culture is about accountability… But now it’s just viral hate.”

Continuing, Yulissa explained how she had received death threats along with “messages saying I should kill myself”.

She added: “That video doesn’t define me. This isn’t “woke”. It’s abuse.”

Yulissa also reiterated her determination, telling followers “this is NOT where my story ends.”

She said: “One mistake does not define a human. And that moment? Was four years ago. I’ve clearly grown and I’m just getting started.”

One person commented: “All the playbook move to become the victim after owning it people truly cannot resist this move, hilarious and so predictable.”

Another remarked: “But why were you saying the n word in 2021? You’re grown enough.”

Others showed support towards Yulissa, as one shared: “Love you yuli. No one deserves this kind of hate, those who know you love you PERIOD.”

Another chimed in: “I felt every word of this. I can definitely relate!

“The way online hate can consume and distort reality is terrifying. Thank you for speaking out with so much honesty and courage.”

After the podcast clips resurfaced, furious fans flooded her Instagram, vowing to get her booted off Love Island.

Yulissa issued a lengthy apology, posting under the caption: “Owning my mistakes, speaking my truth.”

She wrote: “First, I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using.

“Podcast clips from years ago have recently resurfaced, and I want to address it directly.

“In those clips, I used a word I never should’ve used, a racial slur. I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it.

“I wasn’t trying to be offensive or harmful, but I recognize now that intention doesn’t excuse impact. And the impact of that word is real. It’s tied to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use.

“At the time, I was speaking casually in conversation, not thinking deeply or critically about what I was saying. But that doesn’t take away from how wrong it was.

“The truth is, I didn’t know better then, but I do now. I’ve taken the time to reflect, to learn, and to grow from that moment.

“I’ve changed a lot since then, not just in how I speak, but in how I show up, how I carry myself, and how I honor the experiences of others.

“Growth means recognizing when you were wrong, even if it’s uncomfortable, and choosing to move forward with humility and accountability.

“There have also been fake statements circulating, things written or said by others that don’t reflect me or my heart. I want to clarify that this is my voice and my words. I don’t need anyone to speak for me.

“I’m choosing to speak for myself because I take full ownership of my actions. Do not listen to the fake statements. This is my official statement. This is me, speaking directly to you.

“To those who are disappointed or offended, I understand and I apologize. I am sorry.”

iPhone owners must watch out for important notification this weekend as the weather heats up

AS THE weather heats up, iPhone users have been warned to look out for an important notification on their devices.

Temperatures are set to reach 30C today, which could mean that it becomes more difficult to use your iPhone

iPhone users have been warned about an important notification[/caption]

When an iPhone becomes too hot, it may begin displaying a notification which blocks users from accessing their device.

The notification reads: “Temperature: iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it.”

iPhones can normally operate as normal  between 0C to 35C, but leaving them in sunlight can cause them to become exceptionally hot.

The notification is designed to protect your device’s battery life.

On Apple’s website, the company warns against leaving your device in your car on a hot day.

The brand also warns against leaving your device in direct sunlight or for using GPS devices or graphic-intensive games in hot conditions.

Users are advised to store their devices in temperatures between -20C and 45C.

Devices can be stored in more extreme temperatures because they will not be in use, allowing the iPhone to regulate its internal temperature.

The news comes as the UK prepares for a heatwave over the weekend.

Friday evening saw a wave of thunderstorms across the UK, with 30,000 lightning strikes hitting the country.

Businesses in Dorset battled with major flooding, with 80mm of rainfall washing through the streets.

Now, temperatures are set to rise to 30C.

Ahead of the temperature rises, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mike Silverstone said: “As temperatures rise this week, it is possible heatwave thresholds could be reached in some parts of the UK, particularly the northwest Midlands, northwest England and northeast Wales, however it is very dependent on cloud cover later this week, so it is not a certainty.”

Now we can exclusively reveal 8 Out of 10 Cats favourite Jon Richardson will try his hand in the famous white tent.

It comes nine months after he finalised his divorce from fellow Channel 4 star Lucy Beaumont, paying out £1.625 million as part of the settlement.

A source said: “Bosses are over the moon that they signed up Jon. He is hilarious, so will bring the laughs to the tent, and he’s hugely popular with viewers.

“It’s been a tough year for Jon following his split from Lucy, so this has given him some light relief and it’s all for charity, so that’s an added bonus.”

The Sun has contacted a show rep for comment.

Other celebs who will seek Paul Hollywood‘s coveted handshake include Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, Molly-Mae Hague, comedian Babatunde Aleshe and Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa.

Comedy fans were shocked last April when Jon and fellow comic Lucy announced they had split after nine years of marriage.

In November, Lucy, 41, was linked to sound engineer Martin Wallace after they were pictured leaving a theatre together.

Not long after, Jon, 42, gave a rare update on his own love life when he hosted a special comedy gig for Absolute Radio in London.

He was joined by a stellar line-up including Dara O’Briain, Josh Widdicombe and Loose Women‘s Judi Love.

Judi’s stand up routine saw her talk about the challenges of dating over 40.

Her words clearly made an impression on Jon, who said: “It makes me think I’m so happy being single.”

Later in the show, he also spoke of the joys of no longer having to run the tap while going to the loo in a hotel room now he has it all to himself as a singleton.

B&M has slashed the price of a kids summer essential to just £1 down from £50

ONE proud shopper announced he’d snapped up the ‘bargain of the year’ after he bagged a £50 garden toy for just £1.

The Giant Rocking Planet inflatable is ideal for keeping your little ones off their gadgets and instead, outside in nature.

The shopper was stunned to pick up this £50 toy for just £1 after using the B&M scanner[/caption]

It is for children aged eight and above, and it comes with a battery-operated pump.

The toy was originally £50 before it was reduced to £20, then it plummeted to just £1.

The cost-cutting customer shared a snap of the product on B&M Scanner and Other Bargains Facebook.

He added a screen grab with information to help other shoppers find it in their local stores.

“Just found the bargain of the year!! £50!!!! Down to £1,” he wrote.

Other shoppers flocked to the comment section, with one writing: “Super bargain!”

Another shared a photo of her own giant inflatable and wrote: “Thank you! Just got one.”

A third wrote: “Omg my autistic son would loooooove this!!!!!”

“I’ve been looking everywhere for one of these! I saw them a few years ago and they’ve never had them again!” chimed a fourth.

The product code is: 394873 and the B&M scanner noted that the inflatable is subject to availability.

He’d discovered the major deal by using the B&M free barcode scanner.

The tool allows shoppers to discover discounted items before the staff have even reduced them.

The scanner lets you see if the item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop shelf.

Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift, or they’re labelled “big brands” and “big savings”.

It’s a terrific hack to use, especially since the cost of living keeps rising and inflation might hit 15% by the end of the year.

B&M bargains often differ from store to store and customers are warned that some products are available in selected stores only.

To avoid a wasted trip, contact your local branch to check their stock.

To find your nearest, use the online store locator tool.

The garden toy is made in the shape of Saturn, with a large ring running around the outside for children to climb on.

There are handles on the sphere for kids to hold on as they rock from side to side.

Another shopper was thrilled with the deal, and treated her kids to a inflatable boxing ring and slide too.

“Grand total of £12 for £150 worth of toys! Slide was £10 and the other two were £1 each,” she wrote on the same Facebook group.

If you’re looking to turn your garden into a fun-filled play area for your kids, B&M has you covered with more incredible offers.

The discount store is flogging a huge inflatable slide for just £10.

A shopper shared the deal on the same Facebook page and wrote: “Yesterday’s find at B&M.”

Attached to the post was a picture of a Gigantic Garden Slide, originally priced at £50.

A sale sticker had been placed on the box, to say it had been reduced to £30, however, when the shopper got to the till, it had been reduced to just £10.

The bargain buy is six feet long when inflated and promises “slip’n, slide’n fun”.

It is suitable for children over three and includes a battery-operated pump.

B&M said: “Unleash the fun in the sun with this epic giant inflatable slide!

“Watch as the kids’ smiles reach new heights – It’s the ultimate entertainment for endless summer fun.”

Shoppers raced to the comments section of the Facebook posts to tag their friends and share the bargain with them.

One shopper pointed out that the slide is from last year’s stock, so may not be available to buy in your local.
