Popular food brand urgently recalls pies over fears they could be out of date – check if you are you affected

A POPULAR food brand has issued an urgent recall of its pies over fears they may be out of date – check if yours is affected.

Pieminister Kitchens has confirmed that several of its products were given the wrong use-by date.

The pies were incorrectly labelled with a use-by date of June 24, 2026[/caption]

The pies were mistakenly labelled with a use-by date of June 24, 2026, instead of June 24, 2025 – a full year too late.

The popular food brand warned that eating the pies past the intended expiry date would be unsafe.

Pieminister products that were mislabeled

Here are the Pieminister products that were mislabeled, with the correct date for safe consumption being June 24, 2025:

  • Pieminister Moo – British Beef Steak and Craft Ale Pie
  • Pieminister Moo & Blue – British Beef Steak and Stilton Pie
  • Pieminister Kate & Sidney – British Beef Steak, Kidney and Craft Ale Pie
  • Pieminister Deer & Beer – Venison, Milk Stout, Mushroom and Thyme Pie
  • Pieminister Free Ranger – Free Range British Chicken and Ham Pie with Leek
  • Pieminister Fungi Chicken – Free Range British Chicken, Portobello and Chestnut Mushroom
  • Pieminister Wild Shroom – Portobello and Chestnut Mushroom Pie with Asparagus and White Wine
  • Pieminister Mooless Moo – Jackfruit ‘Steak’, Craft Ale and Black Pepper Pie
  • Pieminister – Goat’s Cheese and Sweet Potato Filo Pie with Red Onion and Spinach
  • Pieminister – Spinach and Feta Filo Pie with Kale, Lemon and Dill

Shoppers who purchased any of these items can get a full refund by returning them to the store where they were bought, according to the beloved food brand.

Pieminister fans with questions can contact the company by email at hello@pieminister.co.uk or call 0117 942 3300.

It comes after Lidl urgently recalled a popular breakfast item over fears it contains pieces of metal.

The supermarket giant has pulled Harvest Basket Hash Browns from its shelves and urged customers to return the product immediately.

Shoppers were advised to avoid the 750g frozen goods following concerns they are unsafe to eat and pose a serious choking hazard.

Warning notices will be issued in stores across the country to return the item with a batch number 5144L and best before date 24 May 2027.

The Food Standards Agency confirmed yesterday that any customer returning the breakfast favourite will be issued with a full refund.

Anyone who has purchased the product has been advised to call 0203 966 5566 or email customer.care@lidl.co.uk.

In a statement, the budget retailer said: “Lidl GB is recalling the product due to the potential presence of foreign bodies (metal) which may present a choking hazard.

“If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it.

“Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be issued.”

This follows an urgent warning which was issued to UK shops selling a popular sweet product.

And a popular children’s toy has been urgently recalled after it was found to have a “serious risk of suffocating”.

Your product recall rights

Chief consumer reporter James Flanders reveals all you need to know.

Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.

I built a tiny home on wheels for £1.5k, at 13 years old, it has a kitchen, bed & enough space to host family dinners

LUKE Thill, now 20, is on a mission to build incredible homes.

When he was 12 years old, he took on his first challenge: building a tiny home on wheels.

In a video watched by 13 million people on his YouTube channel @LukeThill, he takes viewers around the finished build.

Inspired by other DIY renovations on YouTube, Luke set about saving up.

Over several months, Luke, from Iowa, raised £1,100 ($1,500) to pay for the materials needed for the build.

Luke’s local community chipped in by donating materials, and he swapped services for help with building.

His dad helped him draw up plans and construct the house, while his mum assisted with the interior design.

The tiny home is connected to electricity, and inside, Luke has fit a working stove, mini-fridge, a sofa with a drop-down table, and a loft bed.

He even built a deck at the front using reclaimed materials.

In total, the tiny home took the teenager a year and a half to complete.

Luke, now a paramedic, said: “The tiny house was always meant to be a space to have friends over and to entertain people.”

And that’s exactly what he did one Thanksgiving when he hosted his family in the space.

Luke said: “We had everything a normal Thanksgiving dinner would have. My family of five plus our dog all fit.”

Luke’s build was such a success that at 14 years old, his twin brother, Cole asked him to build a 36-square-foot mini camper to go along with the tiny house.

The camper is less than half the size of the tiny house and portable, so it was built in a different way to withstand high speeds in transportation.

Since building it, the camper has been on more than 50 trips across the country, mainly used in the summer when the weather is fine.

Inside, there is an L shape banquette seating which doubles into a sleeping area and a small table.

But the main attraction is outside as the camper has a huge pull-out drawer which houses all their camping cooking equipment, and then doubles into a worktop to prep food.

“It houses everything you need to cook – we even have a gas propane stove,” Luke explained in another video. “It’s obviously not a full kitchen but it has everything you need in this sliding drawer under the camper.

But Luke admitted: “The tiny house will always be my favourite.”

Gyokeres decides between Man Utd and Arsenal as he ‘rejects Premier League club’ – but Sporting row could wreck transfer

VIKTOR GYOKERES has rejected a move to Manchester United, according to reports.

The striker is anticipated to make a transfer this summer with Arsenal one of a number of clubs tracking the Swede.

United had been tipped to make a move for Gyokeres with manager Ruben Amorim reportedly keen to re-united with the 27-year-old.

But according to Record he has decided not to move to Old Trafford, with Arsenal now his most likely destination.

The Gunners are rumoured to have had a £55million bid rejected by Sporting.

That is understood to have been met with anger from Gyokeres, who reportedly had a gentleman’s agreement with the club to let him go for that fee.

Arsenal are believed to be preparing a second offer for Gyokeres but it is now up to his agent and Sporting to agree the terms of his release.

And if negotiations do not prove productive, Sporting will demand his £84million buyout clause is met, report Record.

Club president Frederico Varandas insisted he will not be bullied into letting the star man leave on the cheap this summer.

He said: “Sporting will not accept blackmail and insults – you should know me better by now.”

That prompted Gyokeres to squash rumours of a fallout between him and the club.

He said: “There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right.”

Gyokeres’ apparent rejection of United is another blow for the Red Devils, who have already missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea this window.

Victor Osimhen has emerged as a Plan B option for United, though his £500,000-a-week wage demands could prove a stumbling block.

The striker is also wanted by clubs in Saudi Arabia and Galatasaray, where he spent last season on loan.

Despite that, Osimhen has not been ruled out – although any big money move would be reliant on players being sold first.

But despite all the drama, fans have noticed that one beloved part of Love Island has gone “missing” this year.

Viewers want to know where the daily challenges have gone.

These challenges often involve the cast dressing up, they usually involve a few surprising revelations, and always involve snogging.

But so far, there haven’t been any games for the Islanders to play.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans, who took to social media to ask Love Island producers what is going on.

One tweeted: “Where are the challenges?

“Just bombshells and no challenges,” a second said.

Another said: “Day 5 and still no challenges!”

This one added: “Love bombshells however @LoveIsland do we do challenges anymore or NOT???”

GIRLS KICK OFF

Last night the girls kicked off in spectacular style, following the arrival of three new bombshells – Emily, Malisha and Yasmin.

It all started when the boys left the villa for a “guys night out”, leaving the girls behind.

But for the first time in Love Island history, the girls watched exactly what the boys got up to as it happened on a huge cinema screen.

They watched with their mouths open as the boys said what they REALLY felt about the girls back in the villa.

To make matters worst, three new sexy bombshells joined them.

The girls could be seen getting angrier and angrier as the new bikini babes flirted with their men.

The show then ended on a cliffhanger as the sexy new bombshells got to take a man of their choosing for a “private chat”.

Meanwhile, last night’s episode also saw the Love Island villa say goodbye to Blu, after the Islanders chose to dump him over Shea.

Major bar & restaurant chain to shut beloved branch in heart of seaside resort TODAY leaving punters ‘gutted’

A MAJOR bar and restaurant chain will be shutting a beloved branch today in the heart of a popular seaside town.

The eatery is known for its incredible brunch and huge range of cocktails, leaving fans “gutted” when they heard about its closure.

The Slug and Lettuce has been serving customers since 1985 and, over the years, has become one of Britain’s leading pub chains.

However, the company shocked fans when it announced that it would be closing its beloved Newquay, Cornwall, branch.

Announcing the sad news on Facebook, a spokesperson for the pub wrote: “Thank you, and farewell.

“After an amazing journey, Slug and Lettuce Newquay is closing its doors on Saturday, June 14.

“We’ve loved every laugh, every cocktail and every glittery moment shared with you all.

“Thank you for being part of the sun and making it so special.

“Happy Memories.”

The bar will be serving its last punters on June 14, before putting its shutters down for good.

Fans flooded the comment section with their favourite stories from their visits to the pub.

One said: “Oh no, this is really sad. We had a fab bottomless brunch for my hen do. Feel for all the staff.”

Another punter said that they were “gutted” after hearing the news.

The brand has been rocked by closures over recent years, having been forced to shut some of its most popular stores.

Branches in Huddersfield, Worthing and Brentwood have all closed as fellow pub chains also battle with soaring operating costs.

The Slug and Lettuce has been approached for comment by The Sun.

A wave of closures has rocked the high street, with even high end restaurants feeling the pinch.

The glamorous French restaurant La Dame de Pic closed for good earlier this year, with Kora by Tom Kitchen also putting the shutters down.

Some chains have blamed Rachel Reeves’ decision to raise National Insurance contributions, though the Chancellor has insisted that her actions were necessary to stabilise the economy.

Other restaurants, like La Goccia in Covent Garden, said that “covid” and “Brexit” has made it impossible to hire qualified staff – forcing them to close.

Holly Willoughby looks happier than ever as she poses in her bikini and cuddles two pals

HOLLY Willoughby looked happier than ever as she posed in her bikini and cuddled two pals.

Presenter Holly, 44, couldn’t stop smiling as she sat on the floor with her arms wrapped around Director of Artist Relations at Universal Music, Shiarra Bell, and All Saints star Nicole Appleton.

Wearing her hair in a carefree messy bun, Holly looked relaxed and glowing as she embraced her pals on holiday in a mystery destination.

Posting the snap to Instagram, she kept the caption simple with a single red heart emoji, tagging both friends.

The former This Morning host’s celeb buddies filled the comments section with their well wishes.

Emma Bunton wrote: “There’s my gorgeous girls!!!” while Lisa Snowdon said: “The cutest pic!” and Christine Lampard inserted a string of heart-eyed emojis.

It’s been an incredibly testing few years for former ITV treasure Holly, with her work life as she knew it crumbling around her.

For the first time in years, she has been left without a TV show – and she’s now at a serious crossroads and is poised to start a new chapter in her career.

Once the princess of ITV, she is currently ‘showless’ with her beloved channel for the first time in 21 years.

With her time on ITV’s This Morning now a distant memory, Holly was looking likely to land a series of lucrative deals with the streamers.

But in a further blow – her new Netflix show, Bear Hunt, with Bear Grylls, has been axed.

The news comes just weeks after Dancing On Ice was axed and on top of that, she has made the decision to step down from  You Bet!, leaving Stephen Mulhern to present alone.

She is set to appear briefly in the next series, but will no longer be hosting it.

It marks a huge shift in her work with ITV.

One option for the star could be a reboot of Record Breakers, which Holly’s husband Dan Baldwin is already working on.

There is currently no channel attached to the show, which is in its very early stages but sources say it would be a “perfect fit”.

A telly insider said: “Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins.

“She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly.”

She has also been linked to a reboot of Cilla Black’s best-known show, Blind Date.

The Sun told this week how the ITV classic is being revived – and in a surprise twist will go to global streaming service Disney+.

Producers want to keep the tradition of a top British female host, with a shortlist including Claudia Winkleman, Holly Willoughby and Davina McCall.

Sources say Holly is also being looked at for a new Channel 4 talent show, currently dubbed Secret Singers, which is searching for raw, undiscovered singing talent.

Love Productions – the creators of The Great British Bake Off and The Piano – have already put out a casting call.

An insider said: “This is likely to be a heartwarming and hugely popular show for all the family.

“They are looking for a the perfect host to make sure it’s a huge success and it could be perfect timing with Holly’s break in TV.”

Holly returned to TV last year after 18 months – she had stepped down from presenting work entirely after discovering a plot to kidnap and murder her.

Evil Gavin Plumb was given three life sentences for planning to break into her home, then sedate, abduct and kill her and her husband.

It came just months after a very public falling out with her co-host Phillip Schofield, which ended with him leaving the show in May 2023.

Changes are happening behind the scenes, too.

Holly has a big decision to make with her media company Roxy after it was revealed she owes a huge amount to the tax man.

Roxy was set up in 2008 by Holly with husband Dan Baldwin.

But it wasn’t until 2022 that Holly filed the first annual accounts for her all-female ran company after she made the decision to leave former talent agency YMU in 2020.

Roxy Media deals with TV show “production activities”, according to its listing on Companies House.

But just three years on, Roxy has now been slapped with a winding up order.

Action against the company was launched in January and the court was told Holly’s company has already settled a bill of £377,000 with the taxman, with an unknown amount still owed.

In recent weeks Holly has turned to close friend Christine for support.

Like Holly she has enjoyed long stints with ITV, but has also stepped away from them at times.

Sources have said that Holly is inspired by Christine’s career and her work-life balance and is hoping to emulate that herself.

They said: “Holly is ready for a rebrand and has definitely been looking at those around her for inspiration.”

Addressing her incredibly difficult time, Holly recently told The Sunday Times Style Magazine: “It’s been tough. There’s no way of sugar-coating it.”

Discussing why she felt moving forward was her only option, Holly said: “Sometimes things go wrong, but you have to keep going for it because that’s all you can do.”

And it looks like Holly is moving forward – but not before making some serious changes.
