Mum was giving £20 notes to homeless people multiple times a day – the hidden Dementia danger wrecking havoc on finances

GETTING a diagnosis of dementia can be devastating and so can the financial impact.

The total cost of dementia in the UK is an estimated £42 billion per year, according to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Dementia can cause memory loss and confusion, which can seriously impact your money habits[/caption]

Most of that bill is shouldered by families who pay for care or provide unpaid labour looking after loved ones.

Other hidden costs are harder to track.

From falling for scams to losing cash and forgetting to pay bills, dementia can wreak havoc with finances.

LEAH MILNER explains how to protect yourself and your loved ones.

FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES

Around a million people in the UK have dementia, which covers 100 different illnesses including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

It can cause memory loss and confusion, making it hard to carry out daily tasks and making money decisions.

It’s common to lose bank cards, forget passwords for online banking, or rack up late payment penalties.

You might need to take taxis to appointments, pay for meals on wheels or use more energy if you’re at home most of the time.

Paying for care is usually the biggest expense.

Care home fees cost an average of £64,655 per year.

But if you live in England or Northern Ireland and have less than £23,250 in savings, your local council may pay for some or most of your fees.

It will assess your finances to work out how much help you’ll get.

How much you can get depends on what sort of care you need and how much you can afford to pay. You must be left with at least £30.15 a week.

In Wales, you can get help for care home fees if you have less than £50,000 in savings, and £35,000 in Scotland

POWER OF ATTORNEY

Setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is really important.

It is a legal document that allows you to appoint a trusted person to make decisions on your behalf when you no longer can.

There are two types: one covers property and finances and the other health and welfare decisions.

Without an LPA your loved ones could be left in limbo and unable to access money needed for your care.

Despite this, 72 per cent of over-65s don’t have one in place, according to research by Paragon Bank.

Heledd Wyn from Rothley Law said: “When someone loses mental capacity to manage their affairs, their family have no automatic right to access bank accounts or make decisions about their health and care.”

Instead they need to go through a lengthy and expensive legal process to do so.

Download the LPA forms from gov.uk/power-of-attorney, print it out, and complete the paperwork.

Read the instructions carefully – the forms need to be signed in a specific order and witnessed too.

Send the forms to the Office of the Public Guardian. Find the address on the paperwork.

It costs £82 to register the LPA, although it’s £41 if your income is less than £12,000 a year.

Call the Office for the Public Guardian (0300 456 0300), Alzheimer’s Society (0333 150 3456) or Dementia UK (0800 888 6678) if you get stuck.

BENEFITS AND BANKING

Don’t miss out on benefits and discounts.

Attendance Allowance isn’t means-tested and worth up to £110.40 per week. It’s for those with a health condition that means they need help at home.

You might also get discounted or free council tax and help with energy, phone, broadband and water bills.

Unpaid carers who spend at least 35 hours per week looking after someone might be able to claim Carers Allowance, worth £83.30 per week.

You might qualify for a Carers Card at carerscarduk.co.uk. It costs £8 for two years and could save members £240 a year through discounts at supermarkets, restaurants and more.

At Nationwide Building Society, you can book a free dementia advice appointment  even if you’re not a customer. They are run by specialist Admiral Nurses at 200 branches.

Sibstar offers debit cards for people with dementia for £4.99 per month that work with any bank. Their power of attorney monitors spending and sets limits via an app.

WHEN Jayne Sibley discovered that her mum, June, had been withdrawing £20 notes multiple times a day to hand out on the street, she was horrified.

Mum-of-two Jayne, 50, from Winchester, looked after her mum, June who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016, until she died in 2023 at the age of 79.

Jayne’s dad Peter, 82, also has Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. He was diagnosed with the condition 16 years ago, and now lives in a care home.

He is no longer able to speak or recognise his family.

Seeing her parents’ struggle with dementia has been like “watching them both gradually disappear”, Jayne said.

“When someone you love has dementia, you watch the person you know slipping through your fingers.

“Mum would withdraw £20 notes multiple times a day to give to homeless people on the high street, forgetting she’d already given them cash,” she said.

“When she became ill, she lost thousands of pounds to scammers.

“Her number must have been on a target list because the phone didn’t stop ringing, with people pretending to be her internet company to con her out of money, flogging unwanted insurance or expensive vitamin subscriptions.

“My dad, who used to work in IT, would see cash in his wallet but couldn’t work out what it was worth.

“He’d be extremely anxious and embarrassed at the checkout, it was distressing for him to feel so out of control, because he was used to being in charge of managing family finances.”

In an attempt to try to keep her parents’ money safe, she invented Sibstar, which is a dementia-friendly debit card that works with any bank.

A friend or family member who has power of attorney can register with Sibstar and download the app.

This allows them to set spending limits on the card and get real-time updates on where it’s being used, but there is a £4.99 monthly charge.

Builders are being undercut by illegal migrant labour – Brits who pay taxes and play by rules feel shafted

ON Question Time last week, Labour’s clueless Treasury minister Darren Jones made an extraordinary claim.

He told the BBC’s top debate show that “the majority of people in these boats are children, babies and women” when they cross the Channel. This is simply not true.

Nearly 40,000 boat migrants have arrived since Labour came to power — and numbers are up 40 per cent on this time last year[/caption]

The Government’s own website states: “Seventy per cent of people detected arriving irregularly have been adult males aged 18 and over.”

And — thanks to the exclusive Sun on Sunday investigation published here — we now know what many of them get up to once they arrive.

The British people are being taken for fools again.

We already know that our borders are in chaos.

But, thanks to successive Labour and Tory governments, those arriving then go on to work illegally on the £260billion black market economy.

And all the while we pay for their accommodation.

Today it’s highlighted in Barking but make no mistake, this scandal is playing out in towns and cities right across the country.

Nearly 40,000 boat migrants have arrived since Labour came to power — and numbers are up 40 per cent on this time last year.

How many of these already work on the black market without paying tax?

Labour has long championed the mantra of British jobs for British workers.

But brickies and builders are being undercut by illegal labour.

Britain is in social and economic decline. The social contract is stretched to its limits.

People that pay their taxes and play by the rules increasingly feel shafted.

Yes, these migrants may be victims of exploitation — but they are also part of the criminal economy.

Unscrupulous bosses are laughing all the way to the bank while British workers get priced out again.

I was the first to highlight the impending invasion of young, undocumented males.

Most of the media ignored me. But we can now see I was right. Immigration is out of control.

The situation in the Channel is a security emergency.

If we cannot stop this in Barking, how on earth will we control the borders in Dover? Keir Starmer’s soft touch is laughable.

He promised to smash the gangs — but all he has smashed are illegal immigration records.

The only way to deal with this problem is to say everyone that comes to Britain illegally will be deported — and actually mean it.

That means leaving the European Convention on Human Rights. We need immediate deportations.

Relaxed and joyful royals look as if they’ve finally put Charles and Kate’s cancer troubles behind them

THE royal art of playing the part to perfection was never better illustrated than at yesterday’s Trooping the Colour.

The slimmed-down monarchy on the palace balcony were brimming with cheer, colour and vibrancy.

King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and their grandchildren on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

They all looked relaxed and joyful — as if they had at last put all the troubles of the King and Catherine’s cancer diagnoses behind them.

It would have been hard not to feel emotional at the minute’s silence to honour the victims of the tragic Air India flight bound for Gatwick.

The Princess Royal, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales sat stationary on their powerful steeds.

Princess Charlotte, a keen rider herself, will have been looking hard at the magnificent number of horses.

For once, Queen Camilla didn’t have her usual big smile.

The wind was giving her trouble holding on to her hat, but she still managed to look the picture of elegance.

As head of the Armed Forces, it was an emotional day for the King.

But it’s something he always enjoys, especially when everyone looks so happy and proud to be there.

Prince Louis had the last laugh as he gave a mischievous wave to the crowd. A cheeky end to a cheerful day.

Louis Tomlinson and Sam Thompson hold Soccer Aid ‘peace’ dinner to put any awkwardness over Zara McDermott behind them

LOVE rivals Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson had dinner together during a Soccer Aid team bonding session to ease any tension between them before today’s big match.

I’m told the ex-One Direction star and I’m A Celeb winner are determined to put any awkwardness over Zara McDermott behind them.

Sam and Zara split last year[/caption]

They are both part of the England team taking on a World XI for UNICEF.

Louis is romancing TV presenter Zara, who split with Sam late last year.

The dinner took place with the lads and some teammates at Champneys spa in Tring, Herts, where they have been training for the match at Old Trafford.

A source said: “There is no beef between the pair and they’re both going to ensure their love lives don’t distract from such a big charity spectacle. They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised and they’ve broken bread with their teammates, so it’ll be smooth sailing on the day.”

Zara has already ruled herself out of attending.

Sam also presented a video of his charity work in Guatemala to both sets of players.

He said: “I did a small talk in front of everyone, which was terrifying, and I maintain I think it’s the most important thing I’ve done in my 32 years of life.

“I really do believe that. Getting to go to Guatemala to see what UNICEF do on the ground is just life-changing.”

Unfortunately, Sam has been ruled out of playing in the game.

He suffered injuries during his 260-mile running and cycling trek between London and Manchester, in aid of UNICEF, ahead of the match.

Sam explained: “I’m now part of the coaching team, so I’m going to be on the sidelines along with Vicky McLure and also Tyson Fury, and I’m going to be putting my two pence in.

“But I will still get to be part of it all.”

HARRY: TYSON IS BOSS

HARRY REDKNAPP will let England assistant boss Tyson Fury do whatever the boxer wants as he makes his coaching debut at Soccer Aid.

They are part of a four-way management team that also includes Wayne Rooney and Vicky McLure.

Ex-Portsmouth and Spurs manager Harry said: “It’ll be a joint affair, but if Tyson says it’s happening, we’re not going to argue.”

He added: “He’s very similar to my old number two Joe Jordan. He was very quiet and would just look at an opposing manager and go ‘shut it’ and they would not say another word.”

GORKA GLOVES PADDY

DANCER Gorka Marquez has turned into a Strictly scout looking for potential Soccer Aid talent to be in the next series.

He reckons newly single TV and radio host Paddy McGuinness in training as goalie, would be a top signing.

Gorka revealed: “Paddy has talent and he’s funny. He would be great.”

Gorka insisted he had no plans to retire from the hit BBC One programme.

He said: “Why would I want to leave the biggest show on TV? I want to be like Anton Du Beke, still competing at the age he was.”

BEY BROOD’S STAGE ‘NO’

BEYONCE is giving her kids great music experience by featuring them in her Cowboy Carter tour.

But the youngsters, who have also been on Bey’s records, are not certain to follow in their mum’s footsteps, according to grandma Tina Knowles.

She said: “Beyonce’s kids go on tour with her every single time since they were newborns. And it’s wonderful for them.”

Tina added: “I don’t know if they’re going to go into that business or not. I hope that they don’t.”

Speaking of Bey and Jay-Z’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy, who at 13 is a talented dancer, Tina told Sirius FM: “Blue is super-talented, but Blue also rides horses well, plays the piano. She is multi-talented. So we don’t know what she is going to do. And she’s a spitfire.”

Rita fourer

RITA ORA has always been a fashionista with evolving style – but four outfits in one day is quite a stretch even for her.

The singer showed off her gym-honed physique as she promoted new single Heat around London, including at two radio stations.

Rita still managed to look fantastic in all of them.

DANNY’S PERFECT END TO ED ROW

ED SHEERAN and Danny Dyer had a bizarre falling out over fish and chips – but have buried the hatchet thanks to football.

It started earlier this year when the Perfect singer bashed London chippies, saying: “You should always be able to see the sea when you have fish and chips, so anywhere that does traditional fish and chips in London. It’s like getting sushi in Alabama.”

To which proud Cockney geezer Danny fired back: “That would only be a man who is not from London who would say that.

“I think he’s from Ipswich, which I think sums him up.”
Ouch.

But Ed whisked actor Danny off to see his beloved West Ham play Ipswich Town last month.

In a pre-recorded podcast chat with Louis Theroux, which has just dropped, Ed said: “I was asked about fish and chips and I said you have to see the seaside to eat them, and I wouldn’t necessarily want to eat them in London. He took a big offence to that.

“It was a jokey offence, he had a pop at me and I got in contact with him and just said, ‘Come to Ipswich’.”

He added: “I love Danny Dyer, we used to have Danny Dyer nights on tour. We watched every single Danny Dyer film.”

West Ham won 3 -1, so Danny had the last laugh.

YUNG’S GAL PALS

YUNGBLUD has set the record straight on some of the famous women in his life, from Anais Gallagher to Florence Pugh.

The singer revealed he connected with Florence, who appears in the video for new single Zombie, by messaging her on Instagram.

He said: “She’s a f*****g legend. I just slipped into her DMs and we became really good mates. We are going for dinner next week to celebrate the album coming out.

“I asked her to be in the video and I really wanted to make a piece of art with a true great British actress and artist.”

Yungblud is single after splitting from US musician and actor Jesse Jo Stark, who he reveals is the “love of my life”.

He also opened up about his close friendship with Anais, who is the daughter of Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher.

Yungblud insists he is mates with her fella, actor Callum Scott Howells.

He said: “Of course I’m mates with Callum. Everyone is naughty. Anais is one of my best mates.

“Everyone is speculating, but I love Callum. He’s a geezer.

“Anais makes me laugh. She is hilarious. I think she is a legend.”

Yungblud will hold his very own one-day music festival, Bludfest, at Milton Keynes Bowl on Saturday.

He said: “It feels like all my plans are coming together. This is the fun part. It’s now time for me to enjoy it.”

Watch the awkward moment Love Island hunk completely forgets villa beauty’s name and confuses her with All Stars girl

THERE was seriously cringe moment in the first Unseen Bits episode of the series.

One of the stunning new villa girls was confused with a famous Love Island star from the most recent All Stars series.

A man sits shirtless on a wicker couch, smiling at the camera. A tropical beach scene is visible in the background.
Blu kept on getting two beautiful Islanders confused

Blu was chatting to Ben and Tommy at the time of one of the blunders[/caption]

In tonight’s episode of Unseen Bits, now-axed Blu referred to Helena as Harriett a few times.

Seemingly getting Helena Ford confused with Harriett Blackmore from Love Island: All Stars, Blu got muddled up and kept referring to Helena as Harriett.

In a conversation with Ben and Tommy, Blu repeatedly said “Harriett” when talking about Helena.

Even in the beach hut doing in a confessional, Blu kept referring to Helena as Harriett.

In the clip where he was chatting to the boys, Blu asked what “blondie’s name” was again.

Ben and Tommy were then forced to correct him.

Blu was dumped from the villa in Friday night’s episode after on Thursday, he and Shea were left single and vulnerable when they were failed to get chosen by the girls to be in couples.

Between both of the lads, they were tasked with deciding who should stay and who should go.

But both lads were determined to stay and refused to back down.

Blu confidently said: “I ain’t f****** leaving.”

And Shea echoed: “I ain’t either.”

The Sun then revealed that the pair got into a war of words, with this seen in Friday night’s episode before the Islanders were tasked with deciding on who would be dumped from the Island.

Ultimately, Blu was dumped from the Island, despite him not agreeing with the outcome.

Taking a final jab at Shea after his exit, Blu didn’t hold back as he made a veiled dig.

Love Island 2025 full lineup

  • Harry Cooksley: A 30-year-old footballer with charm to spare.
  • Sophie Lee: A model and motivational speaker who has overcome adversity after suffering life-changing burns in an accident.
  • Shakira Khan: A 22-year-old Manchester-based model, ready to turn heads.
  • Blu Chegini: A boxer with striking model looks, seeking love in the villa.
  • Megan Moore: A payroll specialist from Southampton, looking for someone tall and stylish.
  • Alima Gagigo: International business graduate with brains and ambition.
  • Tommy Bradley: A gym enthusiast with a big heart.
  • Helena Ford: A Londoner with celebrity connections, aiming to find someone funny or Northern.
  • Ben Holbrough: A model ready to make waves.
  • Megan Clarke: An Irish actress already drawing comparisons to Maura Higgins.
  • Dejon Noel-Williams: A personal trainer and semi-pro footballer, following in his footballer father’s footsteps.
  • Aaron Buckett: A towering 6’5” personal trainer.
  • Conor Phillips: A 25-year-old Irish rugby pro
  • Antonia Laites: Love Island’s first bombshell revealed as sexy Las Vegas pool party waitress.
  • Rose Selway: Beauty salon owner from Devon who runs 12 aesthetics clinics, boasting a famous clientele including former Love Islanders

Departures:

  • Kyle Ashman: Axed after an arrest over a machete attack emerged. He was released with no further action taken and denies any wrongdoing.

“We asked them [the Islanders] for their point of view as we were both really stubborn in that situation.

“We weren’t going to budge, so we had to get them to make the decision,” he explained in his exit interview.

Then, taking a subtle swipe at Shea, Blu said: “I felt like I had a stronger bond with everyone in there, obviously I’d been there a bit longer.

“I was constantly trying to make a connection and exploring everyone.

“I was making moves as quickly as I could, as opposed to Shea who was a bit more laid back,” he slammed.

Blu went on: “Everyone had their own thoughts.

“But listen, someone’s got to go at the end of the day.

“The way it went was better than I thought it would have gone; I had some nice things said about me and that meant a lot to me.”

Pregnant Vick Hope shows off her baby bump in mini dress as she parties at husband Calvin Harris’s Ibiza club gig

Vick shared snaps of her partying at Calvin’s Ibiza gig – while proudly showcasing the bump.

For one snap, she took a mirror selfie while wearing a sparkling mini dress.

In another photo, Vick is wearing a bikini and smiling for the camera alongside AJ Odudu.

Vick and Calvin tied the knot back in 2023 – having begun dating in January 2022.

And it’s clear have solid foundations to give a baby the best possible early life.

The couple have a stunning 138-acre organic farm in Ibiza, known as Terra Masia.

The Spanish estate produces fruit, vegetables, eggs, and wine, and represents Harris’s shift from jet-set lifestyle to a more rural affair.

A source told The Sun in 2022: “Calvin employs an expert team, including farmers and chefs, but he’s also hands-on, regularly getting involved in planting and other farm activities. He’s truly passionate about the project.”

The Radio 1 star and international DJ Calvin enjoyed a baby shower with her friends and family in Ibiza a few weeks ago.

Last month, Vick delighted fans at BBC Radio 1‘s Big Weekend by asking them for baby name ideas.

The presenter made sure to get stuck in at the Liverpool festival before heading off on maternity leave.

She danced on platforms, soaked up the sunshine and asked the crowd for baby name suggestions with co-host Jamie Laing.

In a video published by MailOnline, he said: “Vick is about to go on maternity leave and she wants some help with some baby names, so if you can shout some names to me…”

Thousands of festival-goers started yelling their best suggestions – with Vick giggling, “OK, I got it,” before Jamie added, “That’s some good names in there!”

Vick previously shared a photo of her in an orange bikini and an oversized white shirt, with her bump peaking through.

Meanwhile, she was also seen staring adoringly at her growing stomach while wearing a flowy turquoise green summer dress.

She captioned the post: “Touching grass lately: Friends, family, farmyard animals.”

Many fans were quick to share gushing messages of congratulations.

One wrote: “Looking fabulous. This era suits you.”

A second posted: “Beautiful mama to be.”

Ashley Cole tips Tino Livramento for ‘beautiful future’ after Newcastle star shines for England U21s

TINO LIVRAMENTO will have a “beautiful future” for club and country, says England’s greatest left-back Ashley Cole.

The Newcastle star is aiming to cap off a campaign that saw him lift the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League by becoming a European champion.

Versatile Livramento has excelled at both right and left-back for the Magpies and was man of the match at the latter in the U21s’ 3-1 Euro opening victory over Czech Republic on Thursday.

Left-back has proven to be a problem position for England’s seniors of late with eight players used there over the past year.

Arsenal and Chelsea legend Cole won 107 caps for his country and is now Lee Carsley’s U21s assistant manager.

And he thinks England, who face Slovenia on Sunday in their second Group B clash, have struck gold with Livramento.

Cole, 44, said: “I had the fortune to be around him when he was at Chelsea. He was in the 21s in the reserve group. You always see the passion and level he could get to. But of course, there’s only a certain level of information we can give him.

“It’s down to the players to take on that information, absorb it, and want to learn and listen and develop and get better. He’s certainly one of them players.

“Him getting the opportunity at Newcastle and continuing to play first in football gave him the belief, the confidence in his own ability. And, of course, a manager that’s trusted him to play at such a young age. He’s developing into a top player.”

Three-time Premier League and 2012 Champions League winner Cole continued: “My job is to try and give all my experiences to every single player.

BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS

“You do favour certain players and certain attitudes. He’s got a great attitude. He’s a great person, always willing to listen.

“I try not to compare myself to these guys. The information and detail I give is, we’re a different stature. We have a different style of play. And it’s just trying to give him the basics of how to defend all areas of the pitch, and see how he develops.”

Cole, who admits some of the magic is not there anymore, takes a hands-on approach to coaching.

And after sharing a pitch with Livramento and working with him up close, he insists that the sky is the limit for the Toon ace.

He said: “I can’t move anymore. My ankle is gone. I was probably the worst player last week when I joined in.

“I try to give that little bit of knowledge as I’m playing. I can’t run anymore, so it’s more of a gob – which I’ve calmed down a bit! – but it’s still there. I try to give as much as I can.

“As coach, you stand on the sideline and see how much information he takes on and takes on board. And I keep saying it, but the willingness to want to learn and be the best, is always a great trait to have.

I try not to compare myself to these guys. We have a different style of play. And it’s just trying to give him the basics of how to defend all areas of the pitch, and see how he develops.

Ashley Cole on Tino Livramento

“Whatever level he wants to get to, he can get to because he’s got that personality and desire.

“He’s got a beautiful future, a bright future. Long may it continue that he keeps playing for Newcastle, keeps gaining experience and keeps his levels up.”

Eyebrows were raised when Thomas Tuchel left Livramento, who won his first senior cap in November, out of his latest squad in order for him to come to the Euros.

But the ex-Southampton ace revealed a conversation he had with the German about being a leader for the U21s in Slovakia and he says he is loving soaking up all the knowledge from his hero Cole.

Livramento said: “Thomas spoke to me about the senior squad and said that he wanted to speak to Lee as well about giving me that role.

Tino Livramento's 2024-25 Newcastle United season statistics.

“I’ve never played a tournament for England and any age group. I’ve always missed it through injuries. That’s a big thing for me, coming here and getting this experience and playing with loads of boys that I’ve come through the age groups with.

“Ashley gets involved in the sessions. Even just watching him, he’s still at the highest level of the way he communicates with all the boys. As a coach he’s a bit more laid back.

“He sees things, he lets you train and he might pull you to the side after and do a little bit of one-to-one work.

“Obviously as a Chelsea fan when I was younger seeing him and stuff like that is a big thing for me to learn.”

England's Under-21 Euros squad in FULL

ENGLAND are looking to retain their status as Under-21 European champions this summer in Slovakia.

Liverpool eyeing shock £100MILLION move for boyhood fan Anthony Gordon to take summer transfer spree to almost £300m

LIVERPOOL are weighing up a £100million move for Newcastle star Anthony Gordon.

Talks were held last summer over an Anfield switch as Toon looked to bring in cash to satisfy Prem financial rules.

Eddie Howe’s side are now in much better shape with the balance sheets but could have to fend off more interest from Merseyside for the Scouse winger.

Boyhood Liverpool fan Gordon moved to St James’ Park from Everton for £45m in January 2024.

He even signed a new contract last October, notching six goals and five assists in the Prem last season.

But the Reds have committed to a summer spending spree to bolster Arne Slot’s title-winning squad — already bringing in £29.5m Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

His old Bayer pal Florian Wirtz is set to be the next to follow in a British-record £116m deal, while left-back Milos Kerkez is also expected to arrive for £40m from Bournemouth.

SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this month that the Reds were keen on Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

But the European champions do not want to lose the Frenchman.

That means that Liverpool could revive a move for Everton academy graduate Gordon, 24.

It comes with uncertainty over the future of Reds forward Luis Diaz.

The Colombian says he is happy at Anfield but revealed he could explore other opportunities this  summer — with interest from LaLiga giants Barcelona.

While team-mate Darwin Nunez appears certain to depart with interest from Atletico Madrid and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool had expressed an interest in Gordon’s Toon team-mate Alexander Isak — but were quoted a whopping £150m fee for the red-hot Swedish striker.

And Newcastle could seek a loan move for Manchester City’s out-of-favour England winger Jack Grealish should they lose Gordon to another club this summer.

Reds new-boy Wirtz is set to pocket a mammoth salary at Anfield.

Sky Sports claim that the German will net a whopping £245,000 a week during his Anfield stay – TWELVE TIMES what he earned at the BayArena.
