CAPE TOWN MAYOR COUNTING DOWN TO CITY’S FUNNEST WEEKEND

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis urged locals and visitors to get their tickets early, saying the city is counting down to one of the most exciting weekends on its calendar.

“The countdown is on to one of the funnest weekends of the year,” said Hill-Lewis. “The HSBC SVNS Cape Town returns to DHL Stadium next month and I can’t wait. Few events bring our city to life quite like the Sevens.

“It’s fast-paced, world-class rugby. An incredible weekend of colour, energy and fun for the whole family. I love it.”

The mayor called on Capetonians and Western Capers alike to make it a weekend to remember

“Whether you’re a lifelong rugby fan or just love a wonderful day out in our city with the family, don’t miss the sevens. Get your tickets now on Ticketmaster.co.za,” he said.

The HSBC SVNS Cape Town brings together the 16 best sevens teams in the world, including crowd favourites such as Fiji, Argentina, and New Zealand, alongside defending world champions the Springbok Sevens. The draw for the event will take place after the Emirates Dubai Sevens, one week before Cape Town’s showcase.

Hill-Lewis highlighted the city’s pride in hosting global sporting events:

“Cape Town is proud to host some of the biggest sporting events on the African continent. And the Sevens is always one of my highlights of our whole event year.

“Come dressed in your best sevens outfit. Come and support the Blitzboks and be part of the best sporting atmosphere anywhere in the world. I will definitely be there with my family, and I hope to see you at the sevens on 6 and 7 December 2025.”

With tickets selling fast and starting at just R250, fans are encouraged to act quickly to secure their seats for a weekend that promises electric energy, world-class rugby, and the unmistakable Cape Town summer spirit.
