On 20 September 2025, South African comedian Mpho Popps Modikoane and his partner Latoyah sealed their union with a beautiful traditional ceremony.
The couple celebrated the day surrounded by close friends and family.
Publicly reflecting on his wedding for the first time, Modikoane shared images from the occasion and wrote, “From now, please call me Ntate Modikoane, and you may address Latoya Mei as Ma-Modikoane.”

Latoyah also took a moment to clarify that what they celebrated was their Umembeso, a traditional ceremony where the groom’s family formally presents gifts to the bride’s family as a gesture of gratitude and respect.
“Last week, we celebrated our Umembeso ceremony,” she said. “What a truly blessed day it was. Looking back at these moments leaves me in awe of what God has done for us, His goodness, and His faithfulness that continues to carry us. Surrounded by people who love us, support us, and constantly cheer us on, we are reminded of just how deeply blessed we are.”

Earlier this year, standing in on The Best T in the City with Tbose, Mpho opened up about his relationship with Latoya, noting how much their lives have changed.
“Early in our relationship, we were the couple who loved hosting parties,” he said. “Our previous house even had an entertainment lapa, and we were always the life of the party. Now, we’ve become more low-key. If it’s not just the two of us, it’s the three of us with our daughter. We’ve grown more boring—and more loving.”
