Broos confirms three Bafana Bafana players yet to join AFCON camp

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that three of his players are yet to join camp.

Bafana played Ghana on Tuesday afternoon, edging the Black Stars 1-0 at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Before the match, Broos said that Siyabonga Ngezana was one of the late arrivals, having played last week for his Romanian team in the Europa Cup.

The players who will join the team later this week are Lyle Foster, Shandre Campbell and Siphephelo Sithole.

“We’re still not complete [as a team], Ngezana arrived yesterday [Sunday], it was something good cause he played last Thursday,” said Broos.

Bafana Bafana is still missing players

Bafana will depart for Morocco on Wednesday, where three European-based players will meet their teammates in Marrakech ahead of their opening match against Angola.

“There’s still Foster, Sithole and Campbell. Sithole is playing today [Monday], Campbell played yesterday [Sunday], 10 minutes and Foster played on Saturday.”

“We decided to let them come directly to Marrakech because we didn’t see the reason why they must come here with us also playing against Ghana tomorrow [Tuesday], as we’re taking flights to Morocco on Wednesday.

“So, we will see Foster, Sithole and Campbell when we arrive in Marrakech on Thursday,” Broos said.

Bafana Bafana play Angola in their African Cup of Nations opener on Monday. Having won against Ghana in their only preparation match, Broos’ charges will look to build on that and put on a good show at the tournament.
