Former Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries Dion George has resigned from the Democratic Alliance (DA), launching a scathing attack against the party and its leadership.
In a statement, George described the DA as “intolerable” and claimed that party leader John Steenhuisen has been captured.
DA’S INTERNAL ISSUES
George, who has been a member of the DA since 1995, cited ongoing internal issues with Steenhuisen as the reason for his resignation.
“I cannot remain in a party that has, through the actions of its current leader, John Steenhuisen, been captured by the African National Congress (ANC) and other criminal interests. The result of this capture is that the DA has been completely muzzled and has lost its voice and its ability to lead in South Africa’s interests,” George said.
His resignation comes after he was removed as minister in November.
