If you’re in Mpumalanga, the Free State, or the Northern Cape, you may want to bring out your blankets for a cosy weekend indoors. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of rain and thunderstorms.
From Saturday, 15 November, to Monday, 17 November, the country will be wet, with widespread rainfall and severe thunderstorms expected. The service says the adverse weather increases the risk of flooding, strong, damaging winds, large amounts of small hail, excessive lightning, and a significant drop in daytime temperatures.
NORTHERN CAPE
In the Northern Cape, rainy weather conditions are expected on Saturday, 15 November. Remember to take the necessary precautions.
KIMBERLEY
If you are situated in Kimberley, the province’s capital, Saturday, 15 November, will bring a high of 27°C and a low of 20°C, with 15 mm of rainfall. Sunday, 16 November, will see a maximum temperature of 27°C and a minimum of 17°C.
FREE STATE
Similar weather conditions are expected in the Free State from Saturday, 15 November, with cooler temperatures.
BLOEMFONTEIN
Over in Bloemfontein, on Saturday, 15 November, you can expect a high of 25°C and a low of 16°C. It will be slightly cooler on Sunday, 16 November, with a maximum of 24°C and a low of 15°C.
MPUMALANGA
The harsh weather conditions will spread to Mpumalanga on Sunday, 16 November, and continue into Monday, 17 November.
MBOMBELA
Expect partly cloudy conditions on Saturday, 15 November, with temperatures reaching 35°C and a low of 14°C. However, the cold will creep in on Sunday, 16 November, with maximum temperatures dropping to 18°C.
