Beauty fans rage at the ‘awful’ new smell of Primark’s skin wipes after rumoured ingredient change

BEAUTY fans have been left baffled by a rumoured change to Primark’s beloved skin wipes.

Make-up artist Mel has used the store’s wipes for years, but took to TikTok to insist “something’s wrong” with the Gentle Cleanse pack she’d picked up recently.

“Has anybody bought these wipes from Primark recently?” she said in the video.

“I’ve used them for years and there’s something wrong with them.”

Taking a big sniff, Mel added: “I don’t know why I keep sniffing it.

“Because they smell like smoky bacon crisps!

“What the f**k is going on?”

“Primark what you playing at?” Mel captioned her TikTok.

And she quickly discovered she wasn’t the only one to have discovered the apparent issue.

“I thought I was going crazy,” one person commented on the video.

“This was the first time I’ve tried Primark wipes as I was needing wipes last minute and they smelt like CHEESE!”

“OMG I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS!!!! No one else understands,” another said.

“I bought the vitamin C ones in the orange pack and they smelt awful,” a third wrote.

“I would never usually chuck something out but there was nothing else for it!”

“Omg I thought it was just me,” someone else said.

“Nahhh I genuinely thought it was just me wtf,” another added.

“Yup!! they have definitely changed them this year,” someone else said.

“The only ones I can tolerate now are the Argan oil ones.”

Primark’s history

PRIMARK first opened in 1969 as Pennies in Dublin, hoping to provide affordable fashion in Ireland.

A Primark store officially opened as Primark in 1974 in Derby.

The retailer now has 193 stores across the UK and 441 stores worldwide with a goal of running 530 stores by the end of 2026.

“OMG THANK GOD IT’S NOT JUST ME! They’re awful!” another commented.

“I bought a packet for my holiday,” someone else wrote.

“I thought they smelled like smoky bacon because I had a packet of crisps in my bag too – turns out it’s not just mine.”

Primark has been contacted for comment.
