South African television personality, businesswoman, and philanthropist Basetsana Khumalo has been celebrated for her exemplary career, receiving the BPI Mid-Mile Category Award.
The former Miss South Africa announced the accolade via social media, stating she was honoured to have received the award on 4th October.
The BPI Mid-Mile Category specifically recognises individuals over the age of 50 who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, consistency, and an exemplary ethical record throughout their professional lives.
In her acceptance speech, Khumalo reflected on the honour as a “full-circle moment” in her journey, which has transitioned from television to establishing successful businesses and philanthropic platforms.
She underscored that for her, “true leadership is not about titles, accolades, or even the spotlight,” but rather about “the long road of service,” maintaining ethics, and the “responsibility to create space where others can rise.”
Khumalo concluded her moving address by viewing the recognition not as an end point, but as “encouragement to keep going, to keep giving, to keep believing that excellence is never an end point, but a way of walking.”
