The project will feature some unreleased material from Mampintsha

South African musician Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, is set to release a brand new album this Friday, 3 October 2025, titled MABHESHINGO.
The project was originally planned as an EP, but Babes decided to expand it into a full album after including more tracks she recorded with her late husband, Mampintsha.
“I added a few songs Mampintsha left me with. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” she said.
She also reassured her fans, saying, “I’m still the Queen of Gqom.”
The pre-order link for MABHESHINGO will go live this Friday.
Babes Wodumo’s last studio album, Indando Kazi, was released in July 2020.
Babes Wodumo has played a pivotal role in the rise of gqom, taking the genre from South Africa’s townships to international stages.
Her breakthrough single Wololo in 2015 shot her to national stardom and introduced gqom to mainstream audiences beyond underground house parties.
The commercial success of her debut album cemented her place as one of the leading voices in the genre.
