Purpose of the Apprenticeship Programme

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to develop qualified skilled workers aligned with business and industry needs. Successful candidates will assist experienced artisans on-site while undergoing continuous learning and skills development in engineering trades.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are passionate about becoming Welders or Mechanical Fitters and want to gain real-world industrial experience.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science (both above 50%)
  • Completed N3–N6 (Pure Mathematics only – Maths Literacy not accepted)
  • Science and Technical Drawing from a recognised and accredited Technical College or Technical High School
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (minimum Code 08) – essential
  • Demonstrated aptitude for Engineering trade work (Welder or Mechanical Fitter)
  • Must be a resident of the Vaal Triangle
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful apprentices will be required to:

  • Assist qualified artisans with site activities and field breakdowns
  • Support welding and mechanical fitting tasks under supervision
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a strong safety culture
  • Carry out reasonable instructions from supervisors
  • Participate actively in continuous learning and skills development
