‘I’ve said it for years’ – Roy Keane backs hotheaded manager to replace Ruben Amorim and cause ‘havoc’ at Man Utd

ROY KEANE has revealed the hotheaded manager he wants to replace Ruben Amorim and cause “havoc” at Manchester United.

The Irishman has been a vocal critic of his former club for years.

Keane regularly lays down the law to United in his role as a Sky Sports pundit.

And his brutal opinions often reflect those of the fans who continue to cheer his name in the Stretford End from his time as captain.

But with United looking particularly poor under Amorim, Keane’s scathing critiques have picked up in intensity.

The Red Devils have lost 19 games since appointing their Portuguese manager last November.

They finished 15th in the Premier League in the previous campaign.

And this season has seen them win just three of their opening seven matches despite having no European football to juggle.

Despite their struggles, United continue to splash the cash and spent over £200million on a new front line of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

And although Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system does not appear to be working with the players at his disposal, the gaffer is refusing to change his ways.

Now, Keane believes there is only one man left for the job who can lift United out of their rut.

Step forward Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid’s Argentine boss who has been in the Spanish capital since 2011.

He has won 442 of his 749 games at the helm while winning two LaLiga titles despite the riches of heavyweight rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Simeone is also famed for his hot-headed approach to the beautiful game.

And Keane, who also took football by the scruff of the neck as a player and manager, believes Simeone would be perfectly suited to the United hot seat.

He told the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet: “I’ve said it for years, I’d like to see Atletico Madrid’s Simeone.

“Id like to see him go in there. I know his mate (Andrea Berta) has gone to Arsenal (as sporting director), but I think he would just create havoc. Good havoc.

“I think he’d rock up to that place and say, ’This is how you do things’. No guarantee but I’d just like to see his personality and his track record.

“People might think style of football, they beat Real Madrid, they scored five last weekend.

“This idea he’s defensive, yeah he doesn’t like his team giving up too many goals or chances, but they can play a bit.

“Liverpool a few weeks ago (3-2 defeat), the team aren’t as great as they were a few years ago but there’s still that fighting spirit.

“He’s on the sideline causing… he got sent off that night. I’d like a big personality.”
