Major blow for Ukraine as military aid to country COLLAPSED over summer holidays despite UK sending 85k drones

MILITARY aid to Ukraine collapsed over the summer holidays despite the UK sending 85,000 drones.

Weapons donations plummeted by 57 per cent according to Berlin’s Kiel Institute, which tracks most types of aid to Ukraine.

The drop is despite President Donald Trump’s claims he could give Ukraine Tomahawk cruise missiles to pressure Russia to end the war.

Arms to Kyiv soared in the first half of 2025 as Europe scrambled to fill the void caused by America stepping back, the German researchers found.

But “momentum collapsed in the summer,” the institute said. The reasons why are not clear.

A report by the German think tank said: “Military allocations from European countries fell by 57 percent compared to January to June 2025.”

The figures jar with British claims to have sent 85,000 drones in six months – over 470 a day.

Defence Secretary John Healey said Britain has invested some £600 million to speed up drone deliveries to Ukraine.

He said it shipments have included “tens of thousands of short-range first-person view drones that are crucial to supporting Ukraine’s front line”.

The MoD said: “These drones are being used for precision strikes, reconnaissance, and disrupting Russian activity behind the frontlines, countering Russia’s own attempts at massed drone tactics.”

It comes as allies prepare to hit Russia with a fresh round of sanctions targeting its oil and gas industries.

One official claimed it was a “muscle move on economic pressure” which will include a crackdown on countries buying Russian oil and gas.

The Kremlin’s so-called shadow fleet of cargo vessels which help it evade sanctions are firmly in Britain and Europe’s sights, sources said.

They also said allies were days away from agreeing on how to use Russian assets to bankroll Ukraine’s defence.

A source insisted Moscow‘s money would be seized and given directly to Kyiv.

But they said Britain, France and Germany had backed a “creative idea” that would use the Euros 170bn of frozen Russian state assets to secure a loan for Ukraine.

Starmer’s belief that the ECHR can be ‘reformed’ to stop the boats has been exposed as a fantasy

Euro derision

KEIR Starmer refuses to even contemplate quitting the ECHR to stop the boats and protect Britain’s borders.

He thinks he can persuade European leaders it can be “reformed” instead.

Keir Starmer’s hopes of reforming the ECHR were shattered as a top Eurocrat warned Britain’s own laws could now breach its rules[/caption]

Yesterday, that was exposed as a fantasy.

In a typically arrogant outburst, Council of Europe commissioner Michael Flaherty said a recent UK Supreme Court ruling to treat women by their biological sex, NOT gender identity, could break ECHR laws

It’s yet another example of overreach by a high-handed institution which thinks it can still dictate to Britain.

Top legal expert Lord Sumption believes the ECHR can never be reformed because the Court makes up the law as it goes along.

Only by quitting it entirely would Britain ever be free of the human rights and privacy madness it enshrines, helping illegal migrants and foreign criminals to fight deportation

The question for the Prime Minister is this: Who does he think decides the law?

Britain’s Supreme Court? Its elected Parliament? Or unaccountable meddlers in Strasbourg?

Not working

LABOUR, the party of the workers, has created a jobs crisis where fewer are in work than at any time since the pandemic

Unemployment is at a four-year high thanks chiefly to the epically stupid National Insurance rise

An unwelcome pattern in the economy is now forming. Fewer jobs, lower pay and sickness benefits rates soaring at 5,000 per day.

More job-destroying tax rises on the way.

Meanwhile, the IMF says inflation in Britain — already the highest among the G7 economies — will get even higher as growth flatlines

That throws Rachel Reeves’ chances of raising living standards for ordinary families into massive doubt.

Labour should ditch the tax rises planned for next month’s Budget

And slash ballooning public spending instead of doing all it can to protect it.

Soft touch

WHY, when the country is broke, is so much public money being spent making life comfortable for migrants who we want to kick OUT?

Why are we providing art classes and IT lessons for people who are in the process of being deported

It’s not the Government’s responsibility to improve the life chances of those with no right to remain here.

This shocking waste of taxpayers’ cash — part of a contract worth £260MILLION — comes from a soft-touch Home Office culture that demands illegal migrants be cosseted at every turn.

Roy Keane tells Marcus Rashford he was ‘part of the problem’ as he hits back after star blamed Man Utd for his struggles

ROY KEANE has told Marcus Rashford that he was “part of the problem” at Manchester United.

Rashford claimed on Monday he’s been suffering in an “inconsistent environment for a very long time” in an apparent dig at the Red Devils.

But Keane, 54, says Rashford played into the toxicity at times, although wishes him the best “with his second chance”.

The legendary United captain then offered advice to Rashford on how to become an elite player, admitting he has “fantastic” potential.

When quizzed on Rashford’s statement, Keane told ITV: “‘Towards the end of his time at United, there was obviously issues.

“He was part of the problem with the environment, especially one of the most experienced players at United.

“He should have been setting the standards and showing new people at he club what it’s like to be a United player. But that’s been well documented.

“What we have to look at is he’s got this chance now with England and he deserved it.

“No doubt about his talent, he’s obviously fantastic. But the bit that would have frustrated fans is his body language, not running back or not pressing properly.

“That’s the things he needs to tidy up and if he does there’s no reason he can’t become a world class player.”

Rashford was subbed on in the 71st minute of England’s 5-0 thrashing of minnows Latvia as the Three Lions secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup.

The 27-year-old winger, who was part of Ruben Amorim‘s five-man ‘bomb squad’, has revitalised his career since joining Barcelona on a season-long loan in the summer.

Keane added on Tuesday night: “I think he was late for one or two meetings, on a night out in Belfast or whatever.

“So he was part of the problem with the environment, particularly as one of the most experienced players at United.

“He should have been setting the standards and showing new people at the club what it’s like to be a United player, but I think that’s been well-documented.”

The Sun revealed that Barca are “ecstatic” with Rashford’s form and have been left particularly impressed with his work ethic.

The United loanee has more goal involvements than any other Barca player across all competitions this season, with his three goals and five assists.

But England boss Thomas Tuchel told Rashford more work must be done to cement his plane ticket to the Americas in 240 days time.

Tuchel said: “He can be one of the best in the world because the quality I see in training, his finishing with both feet and with the head.

“He is explosive, he is fast, he is strong in the air, so where are the limits? There are no limits.

“But the numbers don’t reach the potential, it is as easy as that. He needs to push himself into goal involvements, that means goals and assists.

“He was part of the problem with the environment, particularly as one of the most experienced players at United.

Keane on RashfordITV

“You have to reach your personal best on a regular basis, that is what is demanded on this kind of level and that is the challenge for him.

“This is his task, whether he starts for us or comes off the bench he has to constantly prove himself.”

Rashford’s most prolific season in a United shirt came under Erik ten Hag during the 2022-23 campaign, where he scored 30 goals in all competitions and added a further nine assists.

But after signing a £300,000-per-week contract, he endured a huge dip in form during 2023-24, scoring eight and assisting five in all competitions.

Rashford’s decline came amid warnings from Ten Hag about his lifestyle, from being dropped for missing training after his infamous tequila bender in Northern Ireland to time keeping issues.

After missing out on Euro 2024, Rashford soon hit a stalemate with new United boss Ruben Amorim last November and was exiled out on loan to Aston Villa in January.

The Old Trafford academy graduate previously described United as “reactionary” and being in “no man’s land” in a bombshell interview with Gary Lineker and Micah Richards in August.
