Former Man Utd star who played under Sir Alex Ferguson and scored in FA Cup final makes shock return to Old Trafford

JAMES CHESTER has made a shock return to Manchester United – 14 years after leaving.

The Red Devils academy graduate enjoyed a successful career across the Premier League and Championship.

Chester, 36, left United in 2011 after rising through the youth ranks at the club.

He was named the club’s academy Player of the Year in 2007 after helping the team to the 2007 FA Youth Cup final.

They were beaten by Liverpool’s U18s in the match but that did not stop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from giving Chester the award.

He did earn first-team minutes at United under Sir Alex Ferguson as he featured in the League Cup win over Derby County in 2009.

Chester played 23 minutes after replacing Gary Neville in the 4-2 second-leg semi-final victory at Old Trafford.

He qualified for a winners’ medal in the tournament as United beat Tottenham on penalties at Wembley.

He was sold to Hull City in a move that Ferguson described as an “absolute steal”.

He went to star for the likes of West Brom, Aston Villa, Stoke City, Derby, Barrow and Salford City before retiring earlier this year.

Having hung up his boots, he has reportedly made the shock return to Old Trafford.

But he will not be resuming his playing career but instead pursue his coaching career.

MEN have claimed that he was invited to watch the academy train by close friend, Paul McShane.

McShane left United after five years this summer but Chester could still get involved.

The report adds that he worked with the United U15s and U16s at Carrington.

It is believed that he is working for the club on a “voluntary basis” and is at the training ground three times a week.

He is working towards gaining a Uefa B Licence.

During his playing days, Chester’s pinnacle came in the 2014 FA Cup final as he netted for Hull against Arsenal.

The defender would ultimately end the game on the losing side as the Gunners stormed back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Chester also earned 35 caps for Wales during his career.

He was a part of the team’s iconic run to the 2016 Euros semi-finals in which they shocked Belgium 3-1 in the quarter-finals.

Aidan O’Brien is trying to make history again – here’s why I’ll be cheering him on

THE world used to be a much nicer place, didn’t it?

You only have to go back a decade and it was a more innocent time when our idea of something a bit edgy was watching various celebrities cough up their guts doing the cinnamon challenge.

Aidan O'Brien giving a thumbs-up after winning the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
Aidan O’Brien is chasing down his own record of 28 Group 1 wins in a year
PA

On that subject, a belated happy 10-year anniversary to all those who
celebrate the day Mike Parry tried to eat a tablespoonful of cinnamon and his head nearly exploded. It remains one of the most iconic videos of our times.

Nowadays, there is so much more noise, so much more anger, and there are no grim depths people won’t go sink to in order to get as much attention as possible.

But one man who is a shining example of how to stay classy in this chaotic day and age is the great Aidan O’Brien. And I’m not talking about his penchant for namechecking half of his workforce every time he has a winner.

Unfortunately in racing, too many of our leading participants have major ego issues.

When your clients are billionaire businessmen and Middle Eastern royalty, I suppose it can rub off a little. But it really doesn’t have to be that way — as amiable Aidan has shown us.

He has every right to be an arrogant arse, given his unprecedented level of success, but he chooses not to be, which is why I hope he beats his own record for Group 1 wins in a single year.

So far in 2025, he has banked 22 Group 1s, including Precise in yesterday’s Fillies’ Mile. In 2017, he set a new benchmark with 28, beating the late, great US trainer Bobby Frankel’s record of 25.

By my count, there are 20 realistic Group 1s he can target throughout the remainder of the year, between Britain, France, Germany, America and Hong Kong, and he needs to win seven of them.

It will be a tall order, but I do hope if he ties the record going into December he’ll consider having a crack at the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini Internacional (no, of course I didn’t have to Google it) in Argentina to get over the line.

If anyone is asking, I’ll volunteer to go down and cover the trip.

Of course, it helps when you’ve got the Coolmore blue-blood production line to call upon, and the strength in depth in Ballydoyle this year is incredible.

But, as this game has shown us many times over the years, it’s all well and good having the best gear, but if you’ve got no idea you won’t get very far.

Plenty of average trainers have had well-bred or expensive horses over the years but they’ve been unable to get the best out of them.

Having Coolmore in your corner clearly gives you a running start, but it’s not a guarantee of success.

Aidan entered the ‘genius’ club ages ago, and there was another clear example why at Longchamp last weekend when Puerto Rico won the Group 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere.

The horse took six races to get off the mark, but Aidan has kept working at him and working at him — and he has now blossomed.

It’s reminiscent of US Navy Flag, who ran 11 times as a two-year-old. He looked bang average for the first few months of his career but ended the season doing the Middle Park-Dewhurst double in Aidan’s record-breaking 2017 season.

I don’t think any other trainer would have been capable of achieving those sorts of results.

For some racing anoraks, it would be blasphemy to mention Aidan’s name in the same breath as his legendary predecessor at Ballydoyle, Vincent O’Brien. But I reckon he’s just as good.

So I hope he breaks his own record — the countdown is on.

Big Brother star Cameron B’s feud explodes with Feyisola as he storms off shouting ‘bulls***’

CAMERON B became the latest housemate to be booted out of the Big Brother house – but didn’t go down without a bang.

PT Cameron B’s eviction came after a potty-mouthed feud with fellow contestant Feyisola, 33.

A blazing row ensued between Cameron B and Feyisola[/caption]

Tensions dramatically came to a head when the 25-year-old confronted Feyisola during a secluded group chat she was having with fellow housemates.

The confrontation concluded after Cameron B tried to apologise then stormed away from the argument shouting “bulls***.

“So do you think I’ve come in here to cause a stir?” he asked.

“I don’t care. Take him away please,” she responded.

“I was just going to say I’m sorry,” he added, but she wasn’t having any of it and he got turned away.

Raging through the garden with Caroline, he noted: “No, this is bullshit. You try and be a peacemaker? Nah. WTF.

“Everyone’s just bailed. It’s all wild. What the f***.”

The personal trainer faced the public vote alongside housemates Richard and Elsa during Friday’s live show.

Following the eviction, Cameron B sat down with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best and offered a brief apology.

Bolton lad Cameron, who later admitted to injecting “a bit of aggression, a bit of zest” on purpose to expose “alliances”, described the backlash as feeling “like a pack of wolves.”

He shared: “I’m sorry, Feyisola, sweetheart.”

Asked about his immediate reaction to leaving, he commented: “I’m feeling good.

“It’s good to get a bit of fresh air. And not be on top of everyone. It’s good to be out.”

He was then prompted to guess who might have put him up for the public vote.

Cameron correctly named Cameron K but was surprised when AJ revealed the full list included Elsa and Zelah.

The conversation then shifted to the drama and AJ quizzed him on why he reacted so aggressively during the house confrontations.

Cameron explained his behaviour by citing hunger and frustration over being labeled the “most untidy” housemate during a quiz.

“I make my bed in the morning, my beds always clean, I might not wash up enough, you know what I mean, no one’s perfect, and then I got nailed at that and I thought right, I’m gonna test the waters here,” he explained.

He admitted he was wrong for the outburst, explaining that hunger and intense competition had led him to “test the waters” in the house.

However, the private conversations that followed the feud created a lasting rift, with housemates like Marcus expressing fury at being excluded, venting that they felt like “f***ing spare parts.”

Axed star George Gilbert, 23, had also been on the chopping block before his shock exit.

The Sun revealed how the parish councillor was removed after ‘unacceptable language and behaviour’.

Big Brother has decided to bring back not one but TWO former housemates to shake things up in a game-changing twist.

Tony Blair met paedo Jeffrey Epstein in Downing Street during his time as PM after lobbying by Lord Mandelson

EX-PRIME Minister Sir Tony Blair met Jeffrey Epstein while he was in office after lobbying from Lord Mandelson, it is claimed.

The former Labour leader welcomed the late paedophile financier to Downing Street in 2002 – six years before he pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor.

The meeting was reportedly brokered by Lord Peter Mandelson (pictured with Blair in 2001)[/caption]

The meeting was brokered by peer Peter Mandelson, who was sacked last month as US ambassador by current PM Sir Keir Starmer after it emerged he had coached “best pal” Epstein through his sex allegations.

Lord Mandelson wrote in a leaked email: “Your friends stay with you and love you.”

In a memo seen by the BBC, dated May 14 2002, senior civil servant Matthew Rycroft briefed Blair about “super rich” Epstein ahead of a meeting scheduled for 5pm that day.

A spokesperson for Blair told the broadcaster: “As far as he can remember, Mr Blair met with him for less than 30 minutes in Downing Street in 2002, and discussed US and UK politics. He never met or engaged with him subsequently.”

They added: “This was, of course, long before his crimes were known of and his subsequent conviction.”

Emails reportedly show Lord Mandelson pushing for the meeting, telling the then-PM’s chief of staff Jonathan Powell that Epstein was “a friend of mine”.

The peer is also said to have told Blair ex-US President Bill Clinton hoped to introduce him to Epstein.

The document was released by the National Archives under a Freedom of Information request following Lord Mandelson’s sacking.

The release of it and several related documents was previously blocked by government officials due to fears it would impact the country’s relations with the US.

Lord Mandelson told Powell – the current UK government’s national security adviser – Epstein is “safe”.

He said in the email: “Do you remember when Clinton saw TB [Tony Blair] he said he wanted to introduce his travelling friend, Jeffrey Epstein, to TB?”

He went on to say such a meeting was previously “frustrated” for reasons Blair “was unclear about”.

Lord Mandelson described Epstein as “someone who has his finger on the pulse of many worldwide markets and currencies”, adding Clinton was doing “a lot of travelling with him”.

He added the financier was in London that week and “flexible” about when he could attend Downing Street.

The BBC reports there are three separate handwritten notes on the email print-out, much of which is illegible, though one questions Blair on whether he wants to go ahead with the meeting, adding: “I know very little more about him.”

At the time Lord Mandelson was a backbench MP, having resigned twice from Cabinet roles.

Clinton has previously admitted to being a former associate of Epstein but denies any knowledge of his crimes.

The paedo billionaire was convicted in Florida for soliciting prostitution from a person under 18 in 2008 and died in prison in New York in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Rycroft’s memo, marked R, apparently meaning restricted, confirmed Epstein would be meeting Blair at 5pm and described him as “very rich and close” to Prince Andrew, as well as being “a friend” of Clinton and Lord Mandelson.

Rycroft, who was permanent secretary at the Home Office until March this year, told Blair it was felt the meeting would be worthwhile in order to discuss science and “international economic and monetary trends“.
