‘He’s giving up’ – Darts star Gerwyn Price stuns commentator with crazy tactic in World Grand Prix loss to Luke Littler
GERWYN PRICE stunned a commentator with a bizarre tactic as he was dumped out of the World Grand Prix by Luke Littler.
The Iceman threw away a two-set lead in agonising fashion to the world champion in a thrilling match.

Littler looked down and out at one stage, but rallied in the third set and the momentum began to swing.
He broke Price’s throw to lead 1-0 and then got off to a fast start in the second leg, while his opponent failed to hit a double to get his leg underway.
Price missed his first six attempts at double while Littler stormed ahead, with a 180 leaving just 134 to seal the leg.
With the leg all but over Price decided he would have some practice darts, and had a go at hitting double 13 – much to the commentator’s dismay.
Sky Sports’ Mark Webster said: “Is my interpretation right there that Gerwyn Price hit the double 13 with his second dart and then just thought, ‘oh I’ll have more practice on the 13 because I’ve been missing’.
“That is what he is doing! That is what he is doing! He is giving up the leg to get some practice in on double 13.”
Littler of course won the leg and the following one to claim his first set.
He then levelled the match to send it to a deciding set, with Price failing to hold his nerve as he missed three darts to win the match.
The match went down to the final leg and Price again had difficulty finding a double.
But he was set to throw for the match again before Littler checked out a sensational 152 finish to book his place in the semi-final.
The world champion said after his win: “It was very, very strange. Obviously I wasn’t happy going 2-0 down.
“First and second set I was just on the wire every single time. I couldn’t get those doubles in. My sore throat is definitely worth it!
“I went 2-0 up and I thought I’m guaranteed on my throw to throw for the match. I said to myself this has to go and it went.”

Vicky Pattison reveals bloodied face just hours before Strictly live show
VICKY Pattison has revealed her bloodied face just hours before the next Strictly live show.
The 37-year-old TV star had already caused concern behind-the-scenes on Strictly after coming down with a ‘mystery bug’ earlier in the week.

But while she managed to overcome that, she’s gave the Strictly glam squad some extra work to do on Saturday ahead of Musicals Week after revealing her bloodied face.
Vicky had shared a video on her Instagram Stories of her arriving home to her excited dogs, Max and Milo, after a hectic week rehearsing for the show and launching her latest fashion collection with Little Mistress.
But moments later, she shared a close up picture of her face, with her nose covered in bright red blood.
She wrote underneath it: “Just been one of those weeks lads…Ill at the start of the week, chipped me tooth in a spicy lift with Kai and now Max has popped me nose and cut it in his sheer excitement to see me…
“I can’t be mad…but I am b****y due some good luck surely.”
A previous post on Thursday alluded to her mystery illness as she shared two snaps, one glam, one not so glam.
She wrote alongside them: “Can we just take a moment for my glam team, stylist and the strictly angels who helped turn me from this feral little rat who looks like they live under a bridge and demands riddles to cross into THIS???!!
“Lads it’s been a WEEK… strictly rehearsals, mystery bug, VT’s, Erc away, my clothing collection launch… and I just don’t want anyone thinking I look too glam to give a damn all the time..
“I just thought it was important to show you all both sides of the coin… she LOVES to be a glam girly don’t get me wrong but there’s a hell of a lot of the time I look more like an exhausted little troll.”
While Vicky has managed to battle through her illness and will perform during Musicals Week on Saturday night, the same cannot be said for co-star, Stefan Dennis.
It was revealed on Friday evening that the Neighbours legend had also been unwell, and would not be joining his fellow celebrities on the live show.
The statement read: “Due to illness over the past few days, Stefan Dennis has been advised by doctors to rest and as a result, he will not dance this weekend.
“In line with the rules of Strictly, Stefan and Dianne will receive a bye through to next week when they will hopefully be able to dance again.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 6.05pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
