‘What should I tell you?’ – Thomas Tuchel claims he is not feeling the pressure after abject England win over Andorra

THOMAS TUCHEL claims he is not feeling the heat as England boss — despite failing to fire up the nation’s World Cup hopes since taking over.

The German slammed his players’ poor attitude and body language after they limped to a 1-0 win away against Andorra.

Their World Cup qualifier in Barcelona followed uninspiring performances in Tuchel’s first two games against Albania and Latvia in March.

And despite his Three Lions boasting maximum points from three qualifiers, the team have shown little sign of being in any shape to win the trophy.

But ahead of tomorrow night’s friendly against Senegal in Nottingham, Tuchel said: “I always feel pressure as I am not happy with myself.

“The biggest pressure comes from myself. We have three wins and three clean sheets and have a friendly match on Tuesday. I have felt more pressure than that.”

Tuchel pulled no punches after Saturday’s win.

Asked if it was a risk attacking his stars so early in his reign, he said: “What risk? You were in the stadium. What should I tell you?

“That we played a good match and are happy. The risk is only that you exaggerate it and make something of it that was not there.

“Everything I said, I said already to the team. There is no harm done.

“We were not happy and no single player will be happy with what we showed against Andorra.

“Why would the coach be? And why would we be shy of saying so? If we want to get better, we first need to address that we were not happy with the end of both halves.

“I didn’t name a single name. We do this as a team. It’s always a ‘we’ — and I just didn’t like how we ended the match and the way that we ended the first half.

I didn’t like the attitude or the energy level and how that dropped. I liked the beginning of the team.

“It always includes me. Everything I say, I tell the players.
“I didn’t like the attitude in the end. We lacked the urgency at the end.

“We played with fire. We didn’t play like we have to play in a World Cup qualifier when we were only 1-0 up.

“What did I do wrong? Yes, I am included. But I don’t know. We still won a match. We still won a World Cup qualifier and I am the first one to ask if we could do better.”

Senegal will provide Tuchel’s team with much stronger opposition compared to his first three matches.

The ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich chief said: “It would have been a good test anyway. No matter how well or not well we played against Andorra.

“We don’t have lots of matches. We worship every training and match.”

Tuchel is set to ring the changes at a sold-out City Ground, with Conor Gallagher, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Declan Rice likely to feature.

Tottenham AGREE deal to make Thomas Frank new manager as Spurs negotiate compensation with Brentford

THOMAS FRANK has agreed to become the new Tottenham manager.

SunSport understands that following talks over the weekend, the Brentford boss is set to replace Ange Postecoglou imminently.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy will need to pay a hefy compensation package to Brentford

Frank, 51, wants to make the switch across London which will end his near-seven year spell with the Bees.

The only matter left to discuss is the compensation package that chairman Daniel Levy must pay to G-Tech stadium chiefs.

Spurs brutally sacked Postecoglou on Friday despite the Aussie ending their 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League last month.

And Levy is moving quickly to appoint the Dane, who guided Brentford to a 10th place Premier League finish this season.

Fulham manager Marco Silva and Bournemouth‘s Andoni Iraola have been in the running but Frank is expected to become the fourth permanent Tottenham boss in the last four years.

Frank joined Brentford in 2018 and after promotion to the top-flight less than three years later, he has made them an established Prem club.

The Dane already wants to bring Bryan Mbuemo, 25, with him to North London with Spurs trying to hijack Manchester United’s proposed deal for the Cameroonian winger.

Although that could cost Levy up to £70million with a possible £10m compensation package for Frank, plus £60m for Mbuemo’s services.

That would test Totteham’s financial power, especially as Mbuemo is thought to be demanding around £250,000 per-week in wages, which would make him the club’s highest-paid player.

But Spurs’ victory over United in Bilbao does mean they can offer him Champions League football.

Frank will also be tasked with a significant improvement in the Premier League following Tottenham’s worst ever finish.

Despite Postecoglou’s European success, he oversaw a club-record 22 Prem defeats, which resulted in them coming 17th.

Backstage with Shakira as we reveal the truth about her life on the road and she teases massive UK shows

Collage of Shakira performing in various outfits.

“DON’T you see, baby, this is perfection?” Shakira sings in front of a 65,000-strong crowd at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

As she wiggles her bum and gives the audience a cheeky grin, it is hard to disagree with the Colombian superstar.

Two decades after she first sang that line from Hips Don’t Lie, she is reaching incredible new heights — and it has now been confirmed that hers is the biggest female tour of 2025 so far, by both box office takings and ticket sales.

Outselling Beyonce and Lady Gaga, Shakira has hit a new stride in the five years since she last performed at the Florida venue for her Super Bowl halftime show with Jennifer Lopez, which for many artists is considered the pinnacle of their career.

But now she is having the best time on the road with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour — translated as Women No Longer Cry — which is why she invited me, Bizarre’s Howell, out to Miami where she lives with her two sons.

Shakira took me backstage for a UK newspaper exclusive at the first of two sold-out shows on Friday.

After her performance, I couldn’t help but tell her how much I’m looking forward to her long- rumoured UK dates next year.

‘Better journey’

Confirming they will indeed be happening, she says: “I can’t wait.”

After giving me a massive hug, the down-to-earth and downright lovely star continues: “You flew all this way just for me? Thank you so much.”

And reflecting on the show, she beams: “I had so much fun.”

That’s evident from the moment Shakira bursts on to the stage, after a film showed an AI version of the singer with a missing arm, emerging from a pile of sand and putting itself back together.

That symbolism is important because this is Shakira’s first tour since a torrid spell which threatened to derail not just her career but her life.

She has been dragged through the Spanish courts over an unpaid tax bill, which was settled in November 2023.

At the same time, she had a highly publicised split from former footballer Gerard Pique after 11 years together.

It followed allegations he had cheated.

The hurt has inspired a lot of Shakira’s art.

She opens the two-hour show with her 2024 song La Fuerte, which features lyrics about waking up alone and deleting an ex’s number.

In an empowering speech, she tells the crowd: “Many of you know that the past years haven’t been the easiest for me, right? But who doesn’t have a fall here and there, right? What I’ve learned is that a fall isn’t the end, but the beginning of an even better journey.”

Shakira balances her own turmoil with fun and froth — with a whopping 14 outfits on show[/caption]

Shakira, 48, seems to have discovered the elixir of life, because she looks and moves like someone half her age[/caption]

And there are more nods to those difficulties in her personal life.

During Te Felicit, a song in which she says congratulations to a man who has broken her heart, she tries to reprogram a dancer dressed as a male robot so that he isn’t a misogynist.

But he still touches her bum and turns out to be a dud in bed when she gets cosy with him in the centre of the stage.

During one interlude, there are visuals of a wolf with two cubs, representing the She-Wolf singer and her sons Milan, 12, and Sasha, ten, who both lend their vocals to song Acrostico.

But Shakira balances her own turmoil with fun and froth — with a whopping 14 outfits on show.

For her second song, the catchy Black Eyed Peas collaboration Girl Like Me, she unzips her jacket to show a silver vest top, which she then tears off to reveal a glittery pink mini dress.

There is a sea of lights across the stadium as fans wave their light-up wristbands in unison. And Shakira pulls on everything from sparkly bodysuits to ball gowns and bra tops.

I’m told it took ten months to design the show, and given the attention to detail you can see why.

At 48, Shakira seems to have discovered the elixir of life, because she looks and moves like someone half her age.

By the halfway point of the concert, temperatures are 30C and I have sweat running down my face.

Yet Shakira, who is marking three decades since her first headline concert, is running across the stage and twerking without so much as a moist brow.

In fact, she looks even fitter and healthier than when she first became a household name in the UK in the early-Noughties.

She is in tip-top form for this tour, which kicked off in February and Shakira describes as her “most ambitious”.

She is constantly working out and has two physiotherapists with her on the road.

And I can attest that her backstage catering area, where I had dinner before the show, has plenty of healthy options including grilled red snapper, Peruvian chicken and cauliflower steak.

A significant part of the show features Spanish-language songs, which have sometimes held the singer back in the UK, given most of us Brits can barely understand a word.

Tender moment

But as more and more non- English acts gain traction here in Blighty — such as K-Pop stars BTS and Blackpink and Spanish-speaking rapper Bad Bunny — now is her time.

At the show she is joined by two special guests: Puerto Rican singer Ozuna, to perform their song Monotonia together for the first time, and Spanish Alejandro Sanz for the danceable La Tortura.

During Soltera she pole- dances on a giant letter S before changing the pace for the piano-driven ballad Ultima, which she sings atop a mound of diamonds.

When the tour does eventually come to our shores, it is bound to be the English language tunes that keep the audience on their feet.

There’s an understated rendition of her 2002 belter Underneath Your Clothes, a traditional dance with knives for her megahit Whenever Wherever, and a mass howl-along for She-Wolf, complete by a gigantic wolf image that towers over the audience.

Then she throws an on-stage, multi- coloured carnival for 2010 smash-hit World Cup anthem, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).

One surprising omission from the setlist is Beautiful Liar, her 2006 collaboration with Beyonce, which topped the charts here.

But in a tender moment, Shakira reveals it was her fellow artist’s 2023 Renaissance tour that inspired her to organise her own.

Shakira, whose North American dates were upgraded from arenas to stadiums due to overwhelming demand, explains: “To see this place this packed, it’s a dream for me. It’s surreal.

“The last time I came to Hard Rock Stadium, I saw Beyonce’s show and I said to myself, ‘How amazing would it be if I could play the stadium one day?’

“How amazing that tonight, I’m here playing two stadiums. I have the best crowd in the world. You make all of my dreams come true.”

There is no doubt that she is stronger than ever before.

This show cemented Shakira as a true music icon.

Harry wore a blue baseball cap, hoody and jacket for the event to try to go unnoticed, but was still spotted by eagle-eyed fans.

The moustachioed star had an extra-special treat when Jamie reunited his band The XX on stage, bringing out Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim.

But he won’t have long to wait for music from them as I’m told they’ve almost completed their first album in eight years.

‘It’s not Hull anymore’ – locals say overwhelming migrant influx has changed city as vital services at breaking point

THE historic port of Hull has been welcoming migrants for centuries — but angry locals fear the recent influx is so overwhelming it has changed their city for ever.

They reckon vital services are now at breaking point and the Labour Government is putting their needs “at the bottom of the pile”. And they are not alone.

The once-grand Royal Hotel in Hull is now at the centre of migrant tensions after hosting asylum seekers and becoming the site of riots[/caption]

Locals are angry that migrants are being housed in the hotel while locals are suffering from poor housing

Today we start a major investigation examining the asylum-seeker impact on communities across Britain.

On the East Coast, the symbolic heart of Hull’s migrant controversy is the Royal Hotel, where happy families would gather to celebrate weddings and christenings.

Queen Victoria once stayed there and it was popular with tourists.

However, for the past five years it has put up migrants and last summer became the flashpoint for riots

Former factory worker Stuart Whittaker — made homeless in February when his landlord suddenly sold up — said: “I’m sleeping in cheap hotels when I can afford it, and I’m having to rely on mates to bail me out.

“Meanwhile, asylum seekers are being put up in the Royal for free, with three meals a day thrown in.

“The council and the Government are more interested in putting them up than helping me.

“There’s just no help for people like me. It’s like the local people have been shoved to the back of the queue.”

Stuart, 37, added: “I’m losing everything bit by bit. I just don’t see a way out.”

Stuart’s friend Kevin Thompson, 67, has had to rack up credit card debts to keep his pal off the streets.

He said: “Stuart’s been told there’s no help, no housing — but somehow they’ve got hundreds of migrants living in a hotel fit for a queen.

“The Royal was a landmark building. Something needs to be done.”

The cost of filling up so many UK hotels with asylum seekers and caring for them is now believed to be running at an annual £4.7billion — more than ten times the ten-year estimate when deals started being signed in 2019.

‘Intimidating’

At the Royal Hotel, a stone’s throw from the main rail station, around 70 per cent of the migrants are men. Many gather outside to smoke.

Local mechanic Laura Maundrill, 33, said: “I do find it intimidating walking past there.

You walk past and you can feel them all looking at you. It’s quite degrading as a woman.

“Young men just look you up and down and make kissing noises. They’ll whistle, like you would if you were calling a dog over. It makes me feel really awkward.”

Pub worker Tara Clappison, also 33, added: “I find it quite uncomfortable to be honest.

“You walk past and you can feel them all looking at you. It’s quite degrading as a woman.

“Especially when it is in the centre of your own city.”

The UK’s foreign-born population doubled in the first two decades of this century to nine million.

In Hull, the 2021 Census revealed that 34,962 residents were born outside the UK, a 60 per cent increase in ten years.

The number from Romania soared from 200 to 3,602 — but the migrants come from a host of countries.

The daily reality of such statistics is a massively increased strain on local services, according to those who use them.

Gran-of-three Lisa Roberts, 43, said: “My son and his girlfriend live in a tiny third-storey flat with their three children.

“There’s damp and mould and it’s no place for kids to be living.

“They’ve struggled for years to get the council to find a more suitable property but they are always told there’s nothing available.

“Other people seemed to be getting put first, ahead of the people who actually live here.”

Lisa, a former Labour voter, said she had been stuck on a three-year waiting list to see an NHS dentist and struggles to access her GP

She added: “I understand that many migrants have come from difficult situations but we need to start putting the people of this country first.

“We are looking after a lot of people but nobody is helping us. All we are asking for is fairness.”

The Royal used to be smart. It looks good from the outside but it’s gone to rack and ruin inside now.

Paul Salisbury, local

The depth of anger that local people feel — and the extent to which they feel abandoned by the mainstream parties — was shown at last month’s mayoral elections.

Olympic gold medallist boxer Luke Campbell won Hull and East Yorkshire for Reform UK, one of a series of victories for the party across the country.

Sympathetic to migrants

Yet despite the high tensions, some locals in the city are sympathetic to the migrants’ plight.

Paul Salisbury, 54, said: “The Royal used to be smart. It looks good from the outside but it’s gone to rack and ruin inside now.

“A lot of people have issues with migrants being housed there but I want to give everyone a chance.

“All that hotel is good for now is housing asylum seekers.

“It’s not like they’re staying in suites at The Hilton. We have no idea what the people there have fled from or what their reasons are for coming across.”

Anyone trying to book a room on The Royal’s website is met with the message: “Sorry, Royal Hotel Hull does not have rooms available for your selected dates. Why not try another arrival date?”

The shock figures in today’s Sun suggest that will not change any time soon.

Football team who top league for replica shirt sales revealed as retro kits also make a comeback

MANCHESTER United may have had one of their worst seasons — but they topped the league for shirt sales at airports.

More fans bought Red Devils jerseys than those from the likes of Man City and Liverpool during the Prem season, figures show.

The Red Devils’ tops of Bruno Fernandes and Co took top spot overall[/caption] Illustration of the best-selling football shirts at UK airports.

Liverpool may have clinched the title but among shoppers at JD Sports outlets at London Stansted and East Midlands, as well as, unsurprisingly, Manchester, their tops were popular enough only for fourth place.

United’s local rivals Man City ranked second, with England shirts third.

Retro also appears to be making a revival, with 1990s England shirts in the top 20.

While the Red Devils tops of Bruno Fernandes and Co took top spot overall, there were regional variations.

Arsenal kit was the best-seller at Stansted and the Gunners appeared in the top five across all three airports, owned by Manchester Airport Group.

Prem strugglers Tottenham were only eighth at Stansted, their nearest airport.

They were the fourth-placed London team, also behind Chelsea and West Ham, and were even beaten by Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan across all airports.

At East Midlands, the England shirt was No1.

MAG communications director Adam Jupp said: “Airports are always places where people love to show their football allegiances — whether that’s fans travelling to fixtures at home or abroad, or international visitors coming to watch world famous teams here in the UK.

“Despite a dismal season, Man United’s appeal, across the UK and with inbound tourists, appears to be as strong as ever.”

UK’s ‘outrageous’ migrant hotel bill revealed & it takes every penny in tax from all people in city as big as MANCHESTER

BRITAIN’S £4.7billion annual bill to keep migrants in hotels and look after them takes every penny of tax from 582,000 workers.

The shocking new statistic is equivalent to every grafter in Manchester stumping up for asylum seekers through their pay packet.

Jamie Jenkins, who did the research, said: ‘This isn’t just unsustainable. It’s outrageous’
PA

Jamie Jenkins, who did the research, said: “This isn’t just unsustainable. It’s outrageous.

A government that borrows billions each year, can’t control borders, and taxes its citizens to pay for hotel rooms and housing for people who’ve just arrived is not working for the British public.

“It’s time for a system that protects the people who pay in. That rewards contribution. That puts citizens first.”

Latest figures show there were 32,345 asylum seekers staying in up to 220 hotel.

It costs £41,000 a year to house each, up from £17,000 in 2020.

Ex-Office for National Statistics analyst Mr Jenkins found the average UK salary was £38,224.

Each worker pays income tax and National Insurance contributions of £8,081. So 582,000’s entire tax bills go on housing migrants — equal to the working population of Manchester.

And it is significantly larger than the employed populations of Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds.

The total is also higher than the tax contributions of every UK mechanic and HGV driver combined.

A total £4.7billion went on asylum support in 2023-24 — £3.1billion on accomodation.

The rest went on grants to local authorities, running sites like the disused Bibby Stockholm barge in Dorset, plus £49-a-week subsistence allowance.

The £4.7billion total was up from 2022-23’s £3.6bn.

Nearly 15,000 people have crossed to Dover in 2025, up 42 per cent on this time year.
