Millions of phone owners getting ‘Hold’ robot that waits for human helper FOR you – saving you hours of misery

APPLE is giving iPhone owners their very own personal robot assistant that will wait in phone call queues for you.

The tool will go on hold so you don’t have to.

Apple fans have been calling for the feature for months[/caption]

For example, when you call a business and you’re put on hold, you can get Apple’s new Hold Assist tool to wait in line for you.

It will then notify you when the human support rep is ready to speak with you.

Google has a similar tool, called Hold For Me, for Android phone owners.

Apple fans have been calling for the feature for months.

“I’d love to basically have a “hold for me” feature, like the Google Pixels have had for a while now,” one Apple user wrote on Reddit earlier this year.

“Basically, the phone detects when you are on hold, and can mute the call and notify you when there’s finally a person on the other line.”

But that’s not all.

At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple also unveiled a new Call Screening feature.

It aims to tackle unwanted calls, helping you gauge whether a phone call is important or another pesky telemarketer.

The tool automatically answers calls from unknown numbers in the background – so you won’t even realise it’s happening.

After the caller gives their name and reason for calling, the phone rings and offers you a transcription of what they said.

This way, you can either pick up the phone or ignore it.

The features will become available in iOS 26 – Apple’s next big software update for iPhones.

But they won’t just be available on Apple’s handsets – but its desktops and laptops too.

Hold Assist and Call Screening – as well as the nifty new Live Translation tool – will also be available on Mac.

The London Underground is running vintage 1930s trains on one of its top lines next month

YOU can ride on a vintage 1930s tube on the London Underground next month.

Dating back 160 years, the London Underground is the oldest transport system of its kind in the world.

There will be three different journey types across three days in July[/caption]

And whilst the Piccadilly line is due to get new trains, the London Transport Museum is first allowing people to ride on an art deco Underground train from 1938.

The restored heritage train will be running along the Piccadilly line from Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13.

However, you won’t be paying the normal tube fare.

Riders will need to buy a ticket in advance, with prices varying according to each day.

On Friday, the train will take passengers on a return journey from Northfields and around the Heathrow loop via Terminal 4.

There will be four services throughout the day and a ‘gold ticket’ for the front carriage is £30 per adult and £20 for kids.

Bronze tickets costs £25 per adult and £15 per child.

On the Saturday, there will be three 90-minute return journeys from Acton Town to Uxbridge.

Tickets for these rides will cost £27.50 if you want to sit in the front or back carriages or £17.50 for children.

The rest of the carriages will cost £25 per adult and £15 for children.

On the final day – Sunday – riders can hop on for one of two one-way journeys from Ealing Broadway to Cockfosters for £30 in the gold car, or £20 for children.

Or £25 for the bronze cars (£15 for children).

Tickets can be booked on the London Transport Museums’ website.

According to Transport for London, the Piccadilly line opened as the Great Northern, Piccadilly & Brompton Railway on 15 December 1906.

Originally, it ran between Finsbury Park and Hammersmith and the line remained much the same until the 1930s when it expanded rapidly, incorporating stations which are now regarded as classic examples of period architecture.

A £100milllion beachfront attraction with indoor gardens and pools is also set to transform a seaside town.

Plus, an up-and-coming city has revealed a major new attraction opening in 2026 – with links to Hollywood.

Explosive Sun Madeleine McCann doc reveals bombshell new evidence and why Christian Brueckner is prime suspect

EXPLOSIVE new Madeleine McCann evidence can finally be revealed in a bombshell documentary.

The Sun’s world exclusive doc lifts the lid on gripping new information and reveals why Christian Brueckner is the prime suspect.

Our compelling investigation unveils the horrors found at his abandoned factory lair – and his obsession with small children.

Madeleine McCann: Inside the Secret Evidence is now available to watch online for free on our YouTube page.

Watch The Sun’s exclusive documentary here

The dossier of overwhelming circumstantial evidence includes exclusive images of kids’ swimming costumes, a toddler bike and toys found at his property.

We also reveal how cops found a mask, guns and child kidnap stories where Brueckner describes using kidnap chemical ether to take a mum and tot outside a preschool.

Ourfilmreveals the existence of an 80gb hard drive containing images and a laptop key, which may be key in persuading investigators of Madeleine’s death.

And it also placed Breuckner at the key Maddie search location of the Arades Dam, in Portugal.

A document puts the suspectat the location where he allegedly confessed by supposedly saying “she did not scream” as he discussed the British toddler with an associate.

We also reveal sick child kidnap stories where Breuckner wrote: “A very small girl enters the room. She’s definitely not older than five.

“Blonde, long hair tied in pigtails bounces cheekily back and forth as she comes towards me. I feel like I’m in paradise right now.”

Online messages we uncovered from Brueckner show him bragging to another sicko that he really wanted to “capture something small and use it for days”.

He even threatened it wouldn’t matter “if the evidence is destroyed afterwards” and gleefully added: “I’ll make a lot of films… hehe.”

Our documentary on the police files represents the biggest leap forwards in understanding of the case since German police revealed Brueckner as a suspect in 2020.

It contains an interview with Irish holiday rep Hazel Behan, 41, who Brueckner was cleared of raping in 2005 at trial in Germany last year.

Hear from experts at The Sun and in Germany about the ongoing race against time to stop dangerous Brueckner being released in as little as three months.

And learn more about fears he could potentially take hopes for the McCann case to ground with him.

Christian Brueckner refuses to answer police questions or provide an alibi, but has never been formally charged over the disappearance of murder of Madeleine McCann.

He has insisted his innocence in letters while his lawyers continue to maintain he had nothing to do with the taking or killing of Maddie.

The most recent search for evidence was a three-day dig last week in an area of scrubland near Praia da Luz where Brueckner was known to have wild camped.

German and Portuguese police used JCB-type machines and ground-penetrating radar, but found “nothing of consequence” – dashing hopes of pinning Brueckner with DNA evidence.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Here’s a timeline of the case which has gripped the world.

May 3, 2007

Madeleine McCann disappears from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, sparking a massive police search and becoming one of the most famous missing persons cases in history.

January 15, 2016

Neighbour reports a possible ‘grave’ at Brueckner’s abandoned factory in East Germany.

Cops find disturbing images on USB sticks and launch a full-scale search.

February 16, 2016

Christian Brueckner is convicted for abusing a girl of five in a park after images found on his laptop.

He was sentenced to 15-months behind bars but was already on the run by then.

May 3, 2017

Around this time, Helge B calls an information hotline after watching a ten-year anniversary special on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

He reports an alleged confession by Christian Brueckner.

September 27, 2018

On-the-run Christian Brueckner is arrested over outstanding drugs claims in Italy.

He is extradited to Germany the following year.

December 16, 2019

Christian Brueckner was convicted, in Germany, for the 2005 rape of an American woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal, after his DNA was matched to a hair found on her bed.

He was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

June 4, 2020

German prosecutors reveal to the world they have a suspect in custody under investigation for the abduction of Madeleine McCann.

For the first time they claim Madeleine is dead.

German media later name him as Christian B (Christian Brueckner).

June 23, 2023

In his first interview, witness Helge B alleges to German newspaper Bild that Christian Brueckner all-but-confessed the Madeleine abduction to him, by allegedly saying “she didn’t scream” as they talked about the case, at a music festival, in Spain.

February 16, 2024

Brueckner goes on trial accused of none-McCann allegations of rape and sex assault, in Braunschweig, Germany.

Prosecutors hope for a conviction to keep him behind bars permanently and lead to McCann charges.

October 8, 2024

Brueckner was acquitted of all claims.

Prosecutors launch an appeal, however. Decision pending.

September 17, 2025

Date on which Christian Brueckner will be released from custody without action being taken.

Prosecutors require an arrest warrant for a retrial over claims from last year – or over the McCann case.

Watch the moment shocked Love Island girls find out about show’s big first episode twist – as Maya says ‘battle it out’

The LOVE Island girls are left feeling shocked tonight when they find out about the show’s big first episode twist – as Maya Jama tells them to “battle it out.”

The new series of Love Island kicks off tonight and it is expected to be the most explosive of its 10-year run.

The girls have to choose who to pair up with without even seeing them[/caption]

The girls – Shakira, Meg, Alima, Sophie, Megan and Helena – enter the stunning Mallorcan Villa first.

Excited to be in the hit dating show they quickly get to know one another.

But they are excited to meet the boys and it’s not long before they start shouting for them to enter the Villa.

However, they don’t have to wait for long as host Maya Jama arrives and takes them to the firepit for a chat.

Getting straight to the point, Maya asks them what each of their types are.

Shakira responds: “Tall, muscly, nice smile but for me it’s all about personality. Witty, funny, charming.”

Helena laughs as she adds: “Personality always, my bar is low, I’m not fussy!”

Meg teases that she wants: “Tanned skin, taller and naughty eyes.”

Sophie says: “I want someone that’s a gentleman, not a man child.”

Megan says: “I’m easily charmed, which is the problem…”

Alima says she’s looking for: “A Prince Charming Disney Prince… with no facial hair.”

Maya then has a big announcement, which shocks the girls as she explains: “This year things are slightly different.

“You’ve told me what your type on paper is, but does that match your ideal man in reality?”

She then asks the surprised girls to join her by the swimming pool.

Love Island 2025 full lineup

  • Harry Cooksley: A 29-year-old footballer with charm to spare.
  • Sophie Lee: A model and motivational speaker who has overcome adversity after suffering life-changing burns in an accident.
  • Shakira Khan: A 22-year-old Manchester-based model, ready to turn heads.
  • Blu Chegini: A boxer with striking model looks, seeking love in the villa.
  • Megan Moore: A payroll specialist from Southampton, looking for someone tall and stylish.
  • Alima Gagigo: International business graduate with brains and ambition.
  • Tommy Bradley: A gym enthusiast with a big heart.
  • Helena Ford: A Londoner with celebrity connections, aiming to find someone funny or Northern.
  • Ben Hullbra: A model ready to make waves.
  • Megan Clarke: An Irish actress already drawing comparisons to Maura Higgins.
  • Dejon Noel-Williams: A personal trainer and semi-pro footballer, following in his footballer father’s footsteps.
  • Aaron Buckett: A towering 6’5” personal trainer.
  • Conor Phillips: A 25-year-old Irish rugby pro
  • Antonia Laites: Love Island’s first bombshell revealed as sexy Las Vegas pool party waitress.
  • Rose Selway: Beauty salon owner from Devon who runs 12 aesthetics clinics, boasting a famous clientele including former Love Islanders

Departures:

  • Kyle Ashman: Axed after an arrest over a machete attack emerged. He was released with no further action taken and denies any wrongdoing.

And as the nervous girls line up, Maya explains: “Girls, in front of you there are six love hearts.

“Each boy has given me their dating profile which is written on each of these hearts – shall we have a look at what these boys have to offer?”

On the boards the girls see descriptions for this year’s boys: Ben, Dejon, Harry, Conor, Blu and Tommy

And in a huge twist – the girls have to decide who they’d like to couple up with based on these key stats with the boys’ name, age, job and a headline.

Quotes such as “I like to play hard and work harder! I love to play, so I work very hard” are also given to help them decide who to pick.

The girls then have a moment to discuss the profiles and try to work out who might be right for them.

Then Maya counts to three and they must run to a heart, with only one girl allowed to stand by each heart.

With only seconds to make a decision, will they all get the boy they wanted? Or will the girls be left eager to swap?

Now it’s over to the boys.

Decisions made, they enter the Villa one-by-one to meet their match – will it be love at first write or were the girls too quick to judge their type?

Plus look out for even more shock twists tonight as an Islander is dumped.

For more exciting updates you can follow our live Love Island blog here.

iPhone owners able to send new type of text after surprise Apple change – but lucky WhatsApp fans have it first

A SURPRISE texting upgrade for iPhone owners lets you send a brand new type of text message.

The clever chat tweak was unveiled by Apple today – but WhatsApp fans can already do it.

WhatsApp already offered a way for users to create polls – and now Messages does too[/caption]

Apple hosted a special event in California today where it revealed all the new features coming to the iPhone later this year.

The iOS 26 update was unveiled during the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference, and will likely land on your phone in September.

One of the big upgrades was for the iPhone’s default Messages app, which is where you can send iMessages.

And in iOS 26, you’ll finally be able to create and send polls to other people.

WhatsApp added the ability to send polls back in 2023.

And now Messages will offer the same feature as the chat apps race for texting dominance.

Polls allow you to quiz friends, family and colleagues about whatever you like.

You could ask about a meal choice, restaurant option, holiday destination, or who you think should be booted off the TV show you’re watching.

But that’s not the only WhatsApp feature that Messages is getting.

The Meta-owned app allows you to change the background on your chats – and Messages is following suit.

So in iOS 26, it’ll be possible for you to set custom wallpapers for each of your iMessage conversations.

And they’ll sync with your contacts in the chat so that they can see the backgrounds too.

WhatsApp is a major rival to iMessage, and is used by billions of people around the world.

It’s especially dominant outside of the US, and is particularly popular in Britain.

Apple is giving its Messages app a refresh with the latest iOS update[/caption]

Apple has made a number of upgrades to its own default iPhone chat app in recent years.

They include the ability for users to both edit and unsend texts that have already been delivered.

You can directly reply to Messages inline, and react to texts with emoji – both recent additions to Messages.

It’s also possible to send “invisible” texts that can only be seen by rubbing on them – a feature that WhatsApp doesn’t yet have.

Sadly not all iPhone models are getting this upgrade.

If you’ve got a very old iPhone then you won’t be able to download and install the new iOS 26 update.

The full list of iOS 26 supported devices includes:

Several devices have been cut off this year, despite being able to run last year’s iOS 18.
That includes the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.

Those models – and anything older – won’t be able to get iOS 26, and will miss out on the new Messages upgrades.
