The Original Factory Shop launches closing down sale at another store – see full list of locations set to shut for good

THE Original Factory Shop has launched another closing-down sale as the brand pulls the shutters on another store.

The discount department store has slashed the prices on everything, from clothing to gardening tools to toys.

Clothing rails have been tagged with percentage-off signs as high as 30 percent off.

If you’re looking for something stylish this summer, TOFS in Cupar, Scotland, is packed with pretty dresses, linen pieces, and jeans.

There are also huge discounts across all footwear in the store – from trainers to heels.

Over in the men’s section, there is an abundance of polo shirts, gym vests, and t-shirts.

It’s worth stocking up on cleaning products and household essentials as they have a 10 percent reduction on the price.

For those sweet-toothed shoppers, there are plenty of deals across all confectionery.

Photos of the sale went on the Cupar store’s Facebook with the caption:

Up to 11 TOFS stores are already to set to close this month, including sites across Worcestershire, Durham and Cumbria .

Meanwhile, another five stores across Nairn, Market Drayton, Troon, Blairgowrie and Castle Douglas have been placed up for sale.

The Original Factory Shop has told The Sun that negotiations are ongoing with landlords – making it unclear whether these shops will remain open.

It comes as part of a major restructuring carried out by new owner Modella Capital with a number of loss making stores having to close as result.

Over June nine of these stores will close, including sites in Dorest and Durham.

Another site in Middlewich is also set to close however a date is yet to be confirmed.

You can see the full list of store closures here:

  • Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire – June 26
  • Perth – June 28
  • Chester Le Street, County Durham – June 28
  • Arbroath, Angus – June 28
  • Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire – June 28
  • Pershore, Worcestershire – June 28
  • Normanton, West Yorkshire – June 28
  • Peterhead, Aberdeenshire – June 28
  • Shaftesbury, Dorset – June 28
  • Staveley, Cumbria – July 12
  • Middlewich – TBC
  • Heswall – TBC

The following stores are also up for sale:

  • Nairn
  • Market Drayton
  • Troon
  • Blairgowrie
  • Castle Douglas

Private equity firm Modella bought The Original Factory Shop back in February and has since launched a restructuring effort to renegotiate rents at 88 TOFS stores.

Modella is known for picking up struggling retailers, having also recently acquired Hobbycraft and WHSmith‘s high street shops.

It is set to rebrand all WHSmith high street stores to TGJones, and has brought in advisers to look at potential options for Hobbycraft.

At the end of April, Modella drew up plans to initiate a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) for TOFS.

Companies often use CVAs to prevent insolvency, which could otherwise result in store closures or the collapse of the entire business.

They allow firms to explore different strategies such as negotiating reduced rent rates with landlords.

TOFS previously told The Press and Journal that a “number of loss-making stores will have to close” as part of the restructuring.

Nigel Farage is seen grinning from ear to ear as he joins Jodie Marsh on dance floor at star-studded bash

NIGEL Farage swapped ballots for ballroom as he danced with former model Jodie Marsh at a fundraiser for her animal charity.

The Reform UK leader, 61, proved he was the life of the party during the bash at Quendon Hall in Essex last night.

Farage donned a dark-blue velvet suit for the event, while documentary maker Jodie opted for a stunning dark green gown.

The unlikely duo became the perfect dance partners during the charity ball, which she hosted to raise funds for her Fripps Farm Animal Sanctuary.

It was opened by Jodie in 2020 and she currently pays for the centre out of her own pocket.

The evening hoped to generate some extra income in aid of animal welfare and the sanctuary’s ongoing rescue work.

As well as the political heavyweight, several other guests of honour were in attendance at the bash.

Footage showed Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley performing at Friday night’s fundraiser.

Eastenders favourite Jessie Wallace and Rod Stewart‘s son Alastair were also spotted dancing during the festivities.

Despite not being there in person, it is understood that Oasis star Noel Gallagher donated a guitar and two tickets to be auctioned for the event, which raised £6,000.

Posts on the Fripps Farm Instagram page showed Jodie shaving off one attendee’s hair to raise money for the charity.

Posing with both friends and family during the evening, she hailed them as “the best supporters to have”.

On the official website, Fripps Farm is described as a “loving home” to unwanted animals.

It says: “Owned by former model and documentary maker Jodie Marsh, Fripps Farm is currently home to over 250 animals, many of which have been saved from slaughter.

“Jodie gives a loving home to animals that are either unwanted or in danger of being put to sleep/slaughtered.

“With the correct nutrition, care and expertise Jodie has also brought sick or injured animals back from the brink of death.

“Followers of the farm can clearly see how loved the animals are and how special Jodie’s bond is with them.

“All animals welcome at Fripps Farm.”

National inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal finally ordered by Keir Starmer in another Labour U-turn

SIR KEIR Starmer has performed another major U-turn and finally ordered national inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal.

The PM sparked national outcry after refusing to order the investigation into the sickening rapes of mainly white girls by Asian gangs.

Thousands of white girls were abused in grooming gang scandals across the country[/caption]

Instead, he allowed just five local probes into the abuse to go ahead.

But he has been forced into the humiliating about turn after a major audit into the scandal by Dame Louise Casey.

Her damning report is expected to say white girls targeted in the industrial scale abuse were “institutionally ignored for fear of racism”.

It will also link illegal migration with the horrific abuse.

The PM, speaking on his way to the G7 summit in Canada, said: “I have never said we should not look again at any issue.

“I have wanted to be assured that on the question of any inquiry.

“That’s why I asked Louise Casey who I hugely respect to do an audit.

“Her position when she started the audit was that there was not a real need for a national inquiry over and above what was going on.

“She has looked at the material she has looked at and she has come to the view that there should be a national inquiry on the basis of what she has seen.

“I have read every single word of her report and I am going to accept her recommendation.

“That is the right thing to do on the basis of what she has put in her audit.”

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will outline the findings of the report to MPs.

The PM‘s latest about-turn comes after he said earlier this year that establishing a new wider probe would delay justice for victims.

It comes just days after the PM U-turned on winter fuel allowance cuts – handing the benefit back to the overwhelming majority of pensioners.

The Tories and Reform UK have both been pushing for a national inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said: “I’ve been repeatedly calling for a full National Inquiry since January. It’s about time he recognised he made a mistake and apologise for six wasted months.

“But this must not be the end of the matter. There are many, many more questions that need answering to ensure this inquiry is done properly and quickly.

“Many survivors of the grooming gangs will be relieved that this is finally happening, but they need a resolution soon not in 10 years time.

“Justice delayed is justice denied.”

RAF fighter jets to be scrambled to Middle East as Israel-Iran conflict spirals and Tehran threatens to strike UK bases

BRITISH fighter jets are being deployed to the Middle East to protect British military interests amid the spiralling Israel-Iran conflict, Sir Keir Starmer says.

The Prime Minister bolstered our military presence in the region after Tehran warned the UK that our bases and ships are at risk.

Sir Keir Starmer has decided to scramble British jets to the Middle East

The escalation came after Iranian state media said American, British and French military bases would be in the firing line if they blocked Iran‘s drone and missile retaliation.

The Prime Minister, on his way to the G7 summit in Canada, said: “I will always make the right decisions for the UK and our allies.

“We are moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support in the region.

“I will be clear-eyed in relation to our duties and obligations and my duties as Prime Minister.”

Military capabilities such as further refuelling aircraft and additional fast jets will be deployed in the wake of the threat – adding to our presence there under Operation Shader.

The aircraft started their preparation for heading to the Middle East on Friday morning when Ministers realised the situation was rapidly deteriorating.

It comes after Israel launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear plants which triggered Tehran to hit back across the country with ballistic missiles – raising fears of an all-out war.

Israel vowed “Tehran will burn” after they were hit with four deadly waves of missiles aimed at the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) headquarters in Tel Aviv which have killed at least three people.

Sir Keir Starmer‘s intervention comes after a diplomatic blitz by telephone in the last 48 hours to the leaders of the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel, to calm tensions.

Speaking about his conversation with Donald Trump, the PM added: “I’ve obviously discussed that with President Trump yesterday, as you would expect, and what the possible routes to de-escalation are given the situation, we find ourselves in.

“I think there’s a widespread concern about escalation, everybody can see what’s going on and it can have on the region and beyond the region is obvious.”

The PM insisted he will be holding “intense negotiations” face-to-face with fellow leaders at the G7 on Sunday.

He refused to get into any detail on whether he knew about the Israel attack in advance.

He said: “We do have long standing concerns about the nuclear program Iran has.

“We do recognize Israel’s right to self-defence, but I’m absolutely clear that this needs to de-escalate.

He continued: “There is a huge risk of escalation for the region. More widely in terms of conflict, you can see the impact already on the economy and oil prices.

“And of course, all of this is linked to what’s going on in Gaza. So you can see why my strong position is this needs to de-escalate, and that is the primary focus of the discussions that I’ve been having and will continue to be.”

Foreign Secretary David Lammy had conversations with representatives from Iran, Jordan and Saudi Arabia as well as European foreign ministers on Friday.

Tensions between Israel, the US and Iran have ramped up in recent weeks, amid negotiations over the Iranian nuclear deal – which is aimed at stopping the country from developing nuclear weapons.

The Iranian ballistic missile strikes on Israel descended on the civilian population across the country and managed to severely damage some neighbourhoods in Tel Aviv.

The country’s defence minister Israel Katz said Iran “crossed red lines after it dared to attack the civilian population” and will now “pay a heavy price for it”.

He added: “If Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the conflict between Israel and Iran, as well as efforts towards a Ukraine settlement in a phone call with US counterpart Donald Trump, Russian state media reported Saturday.

“The dangerous escalation in the Middle East was of course at the centre of the exchange,” the agencies cited the Kremlin as saying.

It added that Putin also informed Trump about the “implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on June 2”.
