APPLE AirPods remain one of the most giftable gadgets around.

As prices start to shift ahead of the November rush, we’ll be highlighting the best Apple AirPods Black Friday deals to be had as they land.

Black Friday is a great time to save on Apple AirPods

Apple AirPod deals

Few things rival the thrill of unwrapping a Christmas present and spotting that unmistakable Apple logo.

But with demand always sky-high, Apple AirPods don’t usually come cheap.

That’s why the run-up to Black Friday is the smartest time to keep your eyes peeled for a price drop.

From wallet-friendly AirPods deals to splashing out on the premium AirPods Max, we’ll be keeping track of the best offers as they land, and making sure you know when it’s worth clicking “buy.”

Best Apple AirPods deals

We've spotted some great price drops on Apple tech ahead of the sale.

Here are just a few of the best live deals you can add to your basket today:

Unsure which pair deserves a spot on your list? Our tech editor Sean Keach has broken it down with his Apple AirPods Pro review.

You can check out how must-have models stack up in his Apple AirPods 4 review, Apple AirPods Max review, and Apple AirPods Pro 3 review.

And while we’ll be spotlighting the Apple deals as they roll in, we’ll also be tracking the best Black Friday deals across the wider sales throughout November.

Apple AirPods 4 review

The Sun's Senior Tech Editor, Sean Keach, reviewed the Apple AirPods 4, and this is his verdict...

Pros: Personalised Spatial Audio impresses, great value for money, comfortable fit

Cons: Not for audiophiles

Rating: 10/10

The new AirPods 4 are blissfully comfortable, sound great for their size, and supercharge your ears with more features than ever before.

They’re popular for a reason – and just got way better.

Firstly, I will say that I think that the new AirPods 4 sound great for the money – especially the ANC version. But ultimately (and perhaps confusingly), sound quality is just one small part of why you’re buying headphones.

Headphones are – at their most basic – a delivery mechanism for getting audio into your ears. If you only own one pair of headphones, you cannot do better than Apple AirPods – they just work, and well.

The Apple AirPods 4 deliver pure audio magic at a fairly low price. They were already great, and now they’re even better value for money.

Does Apple offer any other discounts?

Yes, additional discounts are available for school and university students, as well as teaching staff.

What is the difference between AirPods and AirPods Pro?

Shoppers who purchase the AirPods 4 can enjoy up to five hours of listening time on one charge, plus up to 30 hours of listening with the case.

AirPods are also dust, sweat, and water-resistant.

As mentioned above, tech lovers can also purchase the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation.

In contrast, if you purchase Apple’s Pro model, you’ll receive a MagSafe Charging Case (USB‑C).

This charging case works with Apple Watch chargers and Qi‑certified chargers.

If you decide to purchase Apple’s Pro version, you’ll also enjoy a longer battery life and several other handy features.

Do AirPods work with Android?

AirPods work with any Bluetooth-enabled device, including most Android devices, as well as most Windows computers and select smart TVs.

Although AirPods work with Android devices, it is worth keeping in mind that you will lose out on several handy features when you use them on non-Apple platforms, such as Siri, ear detection, and customisable double-tap functions.

How to connect AirPods

To connect to an iPhone, first make sure the smartphone is up to date with the latest iOS release.

Once you have the latest iOS, you can follow these simple steps to set up your AirPods:

  1. Hold the AirPods in the open charging case close to the iPhone
  2. Once you see an animation on your iPhone display tap ‘Connect”
  3. Follow the setup guide on the iPhone screen for AirPods or AirPods Pro
  4. You will need to set up “Hey Siri” on your iPhone if you haven’t already done so
  5. Once completed, tap ‘done’
  6. Your AirPods should automatically be set up with any other supported devices logged into iCloud under your Apple ID

How to reset AirPods

To reset your AirPods you can follow the steps below:

  1. Close the lid on your charging case and place your AirPods inside
  2. Wait 30 seconds before continuing
  3. Open the lid on your charging case
  4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and hit the “i” symbol next to your AirPods. (If your AirPods aren’t visible in Settings > Bluetooth, skip to the next step)
  5. Press Forget This Device and confirm
  6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case, with the lid open, for around 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber, then white
  7. Reconnect the AirPods by placing them near your smartphone with the lid open
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen of your smartphone to complete the re-connection

Are AirPods waterproof?

Some AirPods have an IPX4 rating, which means they are splash-resistant.

While this makes them a good fit for gym workouts and surviving being splashed with water, they are not waterproof.

Submerging AirPods in water is likely to break them.

How to clean AirPods

You should be careful when cleaning AirPods.

Avoid using liquids or cleaning products that may be abrasive or enter the part of the earbuds.

Apple recommends a “soft, dry, lint-free cloth” for cleaning the outer casing of AirPods.

For the speaker mesh and microphone, Apple recommends “a dry cotton swab”.

For full details on how to clean each model, head to the Apple website.

Fears of chaos this weekend as new travel rules to be rolled out across airports and train stations

FROM October 12, 2025, British travellers could be hit with delays thanks to the introduction of the new EU Entry-Exit System.

The use of EES will begin this weekend for the very first time, and holidaymakers believe they’ll be facing longer wait times as a result.

The EU Entry-Exit System for travellers will start on Sunday October 12[/caption]

Some travellers are worried about delays to their journeys this weekend[/caption]

When you use EES, the first time you travel you’ll need to register at a special machine called a kiosk where you will scan your passport.

The machine will then take your fingerprints and a photo – children under 12 will not need to give fingerprints.

You will also answer four quick questions on the screen about your trip, such as where you are staying and confirming you have enough money for your holiday.

The EES checks will happen when you arrive at your destination airport in the Schengen area – but not all of them.

Madrid will be registering arrivals from a single, early-morning flight on October 12, 2025.

In GermanyDusseldorf Airport will have EES, but will only a small proportion of travellers will be required to go through the new system.

Meanwhile, Estonia, Luxembourg and now the Czech Republic say they are ready to check every arriving and departing traveller from their airports.

Depending on where British travellers fly into, will depend on whether or not they have an EES check, or continue with a passport stamp.

While EES is ready in certain places now, it’s a gradual process and is being rolled out over the course of 180 days, from October 12, 2025 to April 9, 2026.

Meanwhile, managers at the Port of Dover have insisted there will not be delays on Sunday, as traffic levels will be “manageable”, as reported by the BBC.

A government spokesperson said: “We are supporting ports and carriers to ensure EES registration is simple for anyone travelling to the Schengen area.”

For the first few weeks, only lorry drivers and coach passengers will have to register with EES at Dover.

Other traffic, including the thousands of car passengers who use the crossings, will be subject to the new system from November 1, 2025.

The same goes for those travelling through the Eurotunnel.

At the Eurostar entrance in St Pancras, EES registration will take place upon departure, overseen by French border officials.

And from October 12, only passengers travelling in business and premium class will be subject to EES checks – for other passengers, they will begin in January 2026.

Minister for Border Security and Asylum, Alex Norris, said: “We recognise that EES checks will be a significant change for British travellers, which is why we have worked closely with our European partners to ensure the rollout goes as smoothly as possible.

“The UK and EU have a shared objective of securing our borders and these modernisation measures will help us protect our citizens and prevent illegal migration.”

For more on EES and ETIAS, one travel expert revealed what to expect.

Meanwhile, Brits face £185 visa fee when visiting the US under new rules.

More Information on EU Entry-Exit System...

Travellers to Europe, including Brits, will be subject to new entry registrations from Sunday October 12, 2025 under a phased implementation of the EU’s new digital border system.

The Entry Exit System (EES) requires non-EU citizens to register at the EU border by scanning their passport and having their fingerprints and photograph taken.

Travellers do not need to take any action before travelling and the process is free.

Registration will take place upon arrival at the EU border and may take slightly longer than previous border checks.

Checks should only take 1-2 minutes for each person, but may lead to longer wait times at border control upon arrival in the Schengen area.

In places where registration will be completed in the UK prior to departure, there may be longer waits at busy times.

The scheme is being introduced to digitise border crossings across the Schengen area and collate the information into a central database to more closely monitor the movements of non-EU citizens.

EES will also help to identify any suspected criminals and to limit travellers to 90 days of stays, in any 180 day period.

Shoppers stunned as they spot Towie star joining a conga and dancing through busy mall

STUNNED shoppers couldn’t believe their luck after spotting a host of famous faces filming in a major shopping centre.

Love Island star Shakira Khan, former The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex and JLS singer JB Gill were all caught on camera.

Joining the trio was ITV presenter and Lorraine stand-in host Ranvir Singh as the group filmed with a big production crew.

They appeared in high spirits as clips emerged all over TikTok after the Westquay shopping mall shoot in Southampton.

Videos showed the moment Joey joined in a giant conga dance past the stores, lead by The X Factor bandmate JB.

Passers-by captured the moment the four stood in the middle of a walkway, appearing to film a talking segment.

They look as if they’re waiting for some sort of results after completing a series of challenges around the centre.

Another angle shows Shakira talking to shoppers as the camera crew hold a boom microphone above her.

People in the TikTok comments couldn’t believe they’d missed seeing the stars filming in Southampton earlier this week.

One wrote: “Why is joey Essex in west quay.”

While someone else asked: “Why the hell was reem in west quay.”

Luckily, the user who uploaded one of the clips was able to say what they were doing, revealing they were filming Gary Lineker‘s new gameshow The Box.

The footy star’s programme – which is a format originally from Norway – is a mixture of “‘I’m a Celeb’ and ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins‘.”

The Sun exclusively revealed that Gary had signed on the dotted line for the new show.

“The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK,” a source told us in August.

“ITV are really excited about it – and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway.

“They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him.

“They’re confident they’ve found that now, and the BBC’s loss is their gain.”

Celebrities are expected to take part in challenges, but they’re not meant to feel like Bushtucker Trials, a source told The Sun.

“Unlike other shows, The Box isn’t about facing fears and phobias, it’s about stepping into the unknown.

“When the boxes open they’ll be launched into a variety of unexpected, fast-paced daring, comedic and mischievous challenges.”

Other confirmed stars taking part in The Box are The Chase‘s Jenny Ryan, Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, comedian Ellie Taylor, former politician John Bercow, ex-footballer Graeme Souness and YouTube content creator Danny Aarons.

From today shoppers can get fresh food delivered from a Morrisons store to their door within an hour.

Customers can order up to 30 items with a minimum order value of £15.

The service charges a £4.50 delivery fee and the order will be delivered by a delivery partner on a courier bike or in a car.

The supermarket currently offers delivery from 158 shops but promises it will be in the full 420 stores by the end of October.

To order shoppers need to head to Morrisons.com or the Morrisons Groceries app, select Morrisons Now and fill their baskets.

Customers can track their order from the store to their front door through the app.

Charlotte Exell, group online director for Morrisons, said: “We are delighted to offer this service to our customers across the country, supporting them with fresh food delivered fast.

“We know that life is busy and Morrisons Now is here to make those everyday moments easier, delivering what you need, within as little as an hour.”

Shoppers will be able to use an “instant shop” function to quickly build their order.

For an even speedier process, shoppers can save their credit card details and addresses to their account.

A statement from Morrisons said: “Morrisons Now is the latest step in Morrisons commitment to convenience and customer service,

“Giving shoppers more ways than ever to access fresh, high quality food at speed.”

The grocery giant is following other big supermarkets with its speedy delivery service.

Sainsbury’s launched Chop Chop in 2016, starting with only 20 stores it quickly spread to 50 by May 2020.

Meanwhile Tesco offers shoppers Tesco Whoosh also promising to deliver groceries within 60 minutes.

Waitrose uses other platforms such as Deliveroo, UberEats and JustEat to bring shopping to its customers door.

Asda Express delivery has both a rapid one-hour service or a same-day option.

Online supermarket Ocado has an Ocado Zoom operating in certain cities which delivers within the hour.

Strictly’s second booted celebrity ‘revealed’ hours before live show, say bookies – and it’s not who you think

EXPERTS have had their say on who will leave Strictly Come Dancing this weekend – and it’s not Chris Robshaw.

The former rugby union player, 39, who is partnered with Nadiya Bychkova, found himself in the bottom last week.

Now bookies are predicting that Lorraine showbiz reporter Ross King, 63, is in the firing line for week three’s elimination.

Ahead of Movie Week, Coral bookmakers have Ross and his partner Jowita Przystal at 10-11 to be eliminated in a dance-off.

Chris is 5-4 to leave, while Stefan Dennis is 8-1. They’ve got Balvinder Sopal on 20-1, with RuPaul’s Drag Race star on matching odds.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is 25-1 for the next Strictly elimination.

“Ross avoided the dance-off last weekend, but our odds suggest he will be in the bottom two this time around and he will lose his place on the series,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Ross escaped elimination last week despite being very low down the leaderboard – now experts predict his luck has run out.

The star-studded line-up face Movie Week this weekend, pulling together dances to famous films from all genres.

Ross and Jowita are attempting the Paso Doble to a Thunderbirds-inspired routine.

He appeared back alongside Lorraine on the ITV daytime show earlier this week ahead of his live performance on Saturday.

“Thunderbirds. I think I’m going to be a Thunderbird. I’m a puppet. He’s a puppet. I’ll be alright… my moves will be a bit stiff,” he said.

Ross got emotional as he told Lorraine the real reason he’s taking part in Strictly.

He said he wants to “encourage people of a certain age to just go there and enjoy it”.

Ross added: “If I can get out there and do it. So can you, I mean, it is lucky that I’m having one of the best dancers in the world to help me, eight hours a day.

“Thank you to Team Lorraine here, people in Scotland who voted, all the people who voted yes, every member of the public, the feedback has been, yeah.”

Last week when Ross made it through, fans thought he swore on live TV.

As he celebrated, some eagle-eyed viewers thought he said the f-word.

One viewer wrote: “ROSS SAYING WHAT THE F**K LMFAOOOO.”

A second posted: “Did Ross just swear when the results were called?”

While on Lorraine, Ross set the record straight, saying: “I didn’t swear, despite what people say. I did not swear.

“It was a genuine shock, because I was pretty sure that, you know, we’d be in the dance off.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday, with the results show airing on Sunday.

Beloved DIY shop with 100-year legacy is shutting down forever as customers flock to Wickes, B&Q and Screwfix rivals

A BELOVED family-run DIY shop that has served its community for over 100 years is closing its doors for good.

The traditional ironmongers, affectionately nicknamed the “Four Candles shop” by regulars after The Two Ronnies sketch, has been praised for its old-school service and friendly advice.

But the current state of its finances are no laughing matter and the owners have announced the much-loved and long-established business is closing after nearly 104 years.
The Centre for Retail Research (CRR) has warned that around 17,350 retail sites are expected to shut down this year

Based in Christchurch, Dorset, Castles Home Hardware has been part of the town’s high street since 1922.

But after almost 104 years, its owners say they can no longer make ends meet.

Siblings Brian and Gary Adams, who have run the store for decades, told the Daily Echo, the business has been hit by a “perfect storm” of rising rent, roadworks chaos and Labour’s tax changes.

They are now holding a closing-down sale before the doors shut for good.

Brian said: “It has become increasingly difficult for small businesses to thrive in the current climate and it is with a heavy heart that we have to close the business after 104 years of trading.

“There are four factors that have led to this.

“The local council has lost the plot. I have lost count of the number of times the road outside has been closed for roadworks.

“When they do it is absolute chaos and customers can’t park. There’s roadworks outside now.

“There is a car park close by with 150 spaces that the council has sold for housing. People just can’t park at this end of the high street.

“The government is getting rid of business rate relief, so from next April where we paid £16,000 a year we would be paying up to £50,000.

“The increase in National Insurance and minimum wage hasn’t helped.

“We have had to let staff go from the shop and haven’t replaced them because it is no longer cost effective.

“And our landlord is putting the rent up from £38,000 to £45,000 next year.

“We just can’t afford it anymore, it’s impossible.

“We can’t put our prices up because we have to compete with Wicks, B&Q and Screwfix.

“Our two suppliers have gone bust and we can’t find any other suppliers willing to sell anything less than pallet loads of stock and we just haven’t got the storage for it.

“The majority of our customers are people of a certain age. They don’t like to buy online, they prefer to come in and see and feel and smell what they are buying.

“The local and national governments haven’t got a clue.

“The national government has no idea about the general public. They haven’t got the foggiest about how life in the real world works. They are just out for themselves.”

The shop’s loyal customers have expressed sadness online, calling it “the end of an era” and praising the Adams brothers for keeping a true “old-fashioned British shop” alive for so long.

Across the country, independent DIY and home stores are being squeezed out as rising costs and online shopping take their toll.

Earlier this year, Harringtons Hardware in Taunton shut its doors after 85 years, saying trade had “collapsed” due to competition from retail chains.

In Devizes, Marlborough Ironmongers, a 97-year-old business, announced its closure in the summer after what the owner called “a brutal year of bills and bureaucracy.”

And Handyman Supplies in Shrewsbury, which survived both world wars, closed in March blaming “crippling rent rises and falling footfall.”

A BCP Council spokesperson said the by-pass car park in Christchurch was sold to Christchurch Town Council in September 2025 and is still operated as a public car park by Waitrose.

They added that three other council-run car parks remain open nearby, providing a total of 584 spaces.

On the issue of ongoing roadworks, the council said the work is being undertaken by a private contractor alongside Wessex Water.

Why are retailers closing shops?

EMPTY shops have become an eyesore on many British high streets and are often symbolic of a town centre’s decline.

The Sun’s business editor Ashley Armstrong explains why so many retailers are shutting their doors.

In many cases, retailers are shutting stores because they are no longer the money-makers they once were because of the rise of online shopping.

Falling store sales and rising staff costs have made it even more expensive for shops to stay open.

The British Retail Consortium has predicted that the Treasury’s hike to employer NICs from April 2025, will cost the retail sector £2.3billion.

At the same time, the minimum wage will rise to £12.21 an hour from April, and the minimum wage for people aged 18-20 will rise to £10 an hour, an increase of £1.40.

In some cases, retailers are shutting a store and reopening a new shop at the other end of a high street to reflect how a town has changed.

The problem is that when a big shop closes, footfall falls across the local high street, which puts more shops at risk of closing.

Retail parks are increasingly popular with shoppers, who want to be able to get easy, free parking at a time when local councils have hiked parking charges in towns.

Many retailers including Next and Marks & Spencer have been shutting stores on the high street and taking bigger stores in better-performing retail parks instead.

In some cases, stores have been shut when a retailer goes bust, as in the case of Carpetright, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Paperchase, Ted Baker, The Body Shop, Topshop and Wilko to name a few.

What’s increasingly common is when a chain goes bust a rival retailer or private equity firm snaps up the intellectual property rights so they can own the brand and sell it online.

They may go on to open a handful of stores if there is customer demand, but there are rarely ever as many stores or in the same places.

The Centre for Retail Research (CRR) has warned that around 17,350 retail sites are expected to shut down this year.
