After Israel Gaza peace deal the case against giving Trump the Nobel Peace Prize looks shakier by the day

“RIGHT now they’re dancing in the street, everyone is happy” declared a beaming Donald Trump last night.

“They are dancing in the streets of Arab countries, Muslim countries, I’ve never seen anything like it”.

Indeed cries of “Donald Trump! Donald Trump!” ringing through what’s left of Gaza city – from conspicuously not starving Palestinians – would not have been on many 2025 bingo cards.

Just 40 miles away in Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square, they were flying the stars and stripes and shouting: “Nobel Prize to Trump!

The same man the media wrote off as a fascist.

As reckless, dangerous, unfit for diplomacy — now being talked about as a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Love him or loathe him, President Trump appears to be on the cusp of securing what decades of presidents, diplomats, and “experts” failed to do.

His unique blend of business, show business and brute force has convened Gulf states, hardline Israelis and filleted Hamas to the table.

As US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, told yesterday’s televised Cabinet: “One day maybe the full story of what happened will be told, but it’s not an exaggeration to say none of this would be possible without the President of the United States getting involved.

And of course it was done with high drama, live on TV with Rubio handing the President a note signalling the deal was close in front of the global media.

Will that be enough prize for the self-proclaimed President of Peace?

Nominations for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, that is due to be announced today, closed on January 31, so yesterday’s remarkable breakthrough is unlikely to count towards the gong.

But the case against giving him his much coveted medal next year is looking shakier by the day.
