Palmeiras vs Porto predictions
Group A is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing and wide-open groups at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Porto narrowly leads the betting to top the table at 11/8, with Palmeiras close behind at 7/4.
The bookmakers are similarly split on the match itself, installing Porto as marginal favourites to get their campaign off to a winning start.
However, neither side is considered a serious contender to win the tournament outright.
Palmeiras are priced at 33/1, the shortest odds among South American teams, while Porto are further adrift at 40/1.
But are Palmeiras being underestimated?
Under Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras have enjoyed one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. He’s delivered two Copa Libertadores titles (2020, 2021), Brazilian league crowns in 2022 and 2023, and also guided them to a Club World Cup final in 2021 (they lost 2-1 to Chelsea).
A second-place finish in the 2024 Brazilian Série A might be viewed as a slight step back, but Palmeiras were in the title race until the final weekend, so it was hardly a collapse.
Their 2025 domestic campaign has started steadily. They have 22 points from 11 matches, although back-to-back defeats in their two most recent matches have raised some concerns about their current form.
Porto, meanwhile, endured a frustrating season in the Primeira Liga, finishing third, 11 points behind champions Sporting and nine adrift of Benfica.
Back-to-back defeats cost head coach Vítor Bruno his job in January. The decision may have seemed harsh at the time, his side had only just slipped to third, but the club acted swiftly.
In came Argentine Martín Anselmi. Results didn’t improve immediately, but Porto found form late on in the campaign, winning eight of their final eleven matches under his leadership.
Palmeiras vs Porto betting tips
With both sides a bit unpredictable right now, there could be real value in the betting markets for this one. Check out our Palmeiras vs Porto betting tips below:
Palmeiras to win
Famous last words here, but we feel that the Brazilians are being a touch underestimated here.
Palmeiras have a good track record in recent years. Okay, 2024 and 2025 haven’t been as productive as the previous three or four, but even though they have so far failed to scale the same heights, Abel Ferreira’s team are still more than competitive.
Porto, on the other hand, have been anything but. They underwhelmed domestically and in Europe, and there is little evidence to suggest anything will change at the Club World Cup. We are siding with the Brazilians to win a low scorer.
Back Palmeiras to win at 35/20 with SBK
Both teams not to score
Palmeiras aren’t what you might call an entertaining team to watch.
In their eleven Brazilian Série A matches this season, they have scored 12 goals and conceded just eight. Hard to beat – might be a phrase that springs to mind.
Porto have hardly been inspiring in their domestic league this season. They may have finished their campaign with a flurry of goals, but by this stage, Champions League qualification was gone – and it could be argued the pressure was off.
In what is an open group, both teams might decide avoiding defeat takes priority – and that points to a lack of goals.
Back no in both teams to score at 20/23 with BetVictor
Estêvão Willian to score or assist
Much like the FIFA World Cup often brings new stars into the spotlight, the newly revamped Club World Cup looks set to do the same.
One such rising talent is 18-year-old Estêvão Willian of Palmeiras. Unlike many breakout players, his future is already set – he’s agreed to join Chelsea later this summer.
In a match that could be decided by a moment of magic, backing the next Brazilian wonderkid to be involved in a goal looks like smart value at odds better than 2/1.
Back Estêvão Willian to score or assist at 41/20 with BetMGM

Chelsea vs Los Angeles FC preview
Chelsea get their Club World Cup competition up and running on Monday night with a game against LAFC.
The Blues finished the season like a train, finishing in the Champions League places and wrapping up European glory by winning the Conference League.
And they’ve been fairly busy in the first transfer window too, signing Mike Penders, centre-back Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo and £30million man Liam Delap all in the squad.
However Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi – returning after loans at Arsenal and Aston Villa, respectively – won’t be traveling as they look for their futures elsewhere.
Chelsea are in the top half dozen in the outright betting markets but will face stiff competition once progressing through Group D.
Los Angeles FC came through a play off in dramatic fashion, beating Club America in extra time.
An 89th minute equaliser got LAFC back level before a Denis Bouanga goal – assisted by ex-Blues man Olivier Giroud – in the 115th minute secured their spot here.
Ex-Spurs man Hugo Lloris is the LAFC goalkeeper, with the side having only formed 11 years ago.

Discover Sun Bingo’s medieval games on the anniversary of the Magna Carta
ON this day in 1215, the historic document was signed at Runnymede, Surrey.
King John I of England was born on 24th December 1166. As the fourth son, he was not expected to inherit lands, leading to the nickname John Lackland.

However, after the untimely deaths of his older brothers, without heirs, John became king in 1199. As such, he became ruler of the Angevin Empire, which included the regions of Aquitaine, Normandy and Brittany.
However, after a series of unsuccessful wars, King John lost all of his territories in Northern France.
In order to fund his futile attempts to regain Normandy and Brittany, the king imposed heavy taxes on the English barons.
Failure to comply was severely punished, with barons having their lands seized or male children kidnapped and ransomed.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU WIN PLAYING ONLINE BINGO? FIND OUT NOW
Disquiet grew and, after a particularly humiliating defeat of John’s allies in the Battle of Bouvines, the barons rebelled. This commenced the First Barons’ War. Their cause quickly gained momentum and they captured London.
Forced to negotiate, the king met with the rebels at Runnymede. The resulting agreement was written up and dubbed the Magna Carta (the great charter).
It was signed 810 years ago today.
This was the first time in English history that rules were imposed to limit the power of the monarch. Previously, it was believed that under the divine right of kings, monarchs derived their right to rule from God and as such were not subject to any other earthly authority.
PLAY IN LIVE TRIVIA QUIZZES TO WIN GOLDEN CHIPS
A council of 25 barons was formed in order to uphold the agreement and the rebellion was over… for 10 weeks.
The Pope declared the charter null and void, breaking the terms of the peace agreement. As tensions grew once more, King John died on 19th October 1216. When nine-year-old Henry III took the throne, he agreed to honour the charter in order to keep the peace.
The Magna Carta was reissued several times over the 13th century before eventually becoming a part of English law.
Much of the charter is no longer relevant, having been specifically written to address rights and customs within a feudal system.

However, four of the original 63 clauses are still valid in English law today. The most famous clauses are 39 and 40:
No free man shall be seized, imprisoned, dispossessed, outlawed, exiled or ruined in any way, nor in any way proceeded against, except by the lawful judgment of his peers and the law of the land.
To no one will we sell, to no one will we deny or delay right or justice.
This demands a right to due legal process. It has been noted that the expectations of justice and a fair trial inspired elements of the Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Inter Miami 0 Al Alhy 0: David Beckham watches Messi draw a blank in CWC opener next to Wenger days after knighthood

FORGET the scoreline – this was a knight to remember for Sir David Beckham.
Fresh from receiving his knighthood, Becks was back in Miami, nestled into the posh seats alongside Arsene Wenger as his Inter Miami side kicked off the brand-new Club World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium.

When he started building an MLS franchise back in 2014, not even Beckham’s wildest dreams could’ve conjured this — his boys in pink, led by Lionel Messi, opening FIFA’s glitzy new global tournament on home turf.
But here they were, bathed in Florida humidity, facing Egyptian titans Al Ahly in what promised to be a baptism by fire.
On the face of it, drawing 0-0 didn’t have Becks jumping up for joy.
Yet it was a gritty point which proved his side might not be the pushovers many predicted, even if there will be sterner tests to come in the shape of Porto and Brazilian side Palmeiras.
The odds coming into last night’s clash weren’t great. Miami have been in freefall in MLS.
Al Ahly — 45-time Egyptian champions and backed by a deafening sea of red in the stands — were tipped to cruise. And they nearly did.
On 42 minutes, they won a penalty – which showcased the new-fangled ref-cam for the first time – but standout keeper Oscar Ustari guessed right and denied Trezeguet with a brilliant save.
It was a huge moment that kept Miami afloat.

Messi was quiet early on, unusually subdued. Luis Suarez barely got a touch.
But the second half told a different story.
Messi came alive, brushing the post with a trademark free-kick and gradually seizing control.
The tempo lifted and the crowd responded.
Concerns over empty seats at the 65,000 capacity stadium were quickly erased — the place was almost at capacity and rocking with 60,927 taking it all in.
Al Ahly began to fade, drained by the heat and Miami’s late surge.
Sub Fafa Picault almost grabbed a late winner, another Messi curler grazed the bar in stoppage time before Egyptian keeper Mohamed El Shenawi pulled off an incredible save at the death from Maxi Falcon’s close-range header.
Becks, suit and booted, looked like he was kicking every ball in the stands, grimacing as he was beamed onto the big screen with the game in the balance.

But in the end, a draw for the MLS side and their superstar owner was a decent result.
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino would also have left Hard Rock Stadium a happy man.
Not only was the opening match a lively affair, there was no repeat of the nightmare scenes at last year’s Copa America final where Colombian and Argentina fans stormed into the stadium following lengthy delays to enter.
FIFA, thankfully, installed a ring of steel around the perimeter to keep everyone safe for the first match of the new 32-team tournament.
Miami boss Javier Mascherano said: “We knew we were up against a strong team.
The nerves and anxiety played a trick on us in the first half,.
“But we had our chances to win. The team left a very good impression.
“This is the path forward, playing like this, we can beat anyone.”
