WNSCops are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination[/caption]
She had travelled three miles from her home in Ferndale, Rhondda, to the mountainside Penrhys Primary School where the tragedy happened on Wednesday.
Police are not revealing how she died until the results of a post mortem examination but a family member described it as a “freak accident” at the village school.
Her devastated mum Melanie said: “My beautiful beautiful baby girl, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep without you.
“I’m so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time with your favourite bedtime song.
“You were wanted, admired and absolutely adored by everyone lucky enough to have known you.
“I don’t know what life will look like now. I love you to the moon and back…twice.”
Another family member said there had been a “freak accident” in the school which led to the tragedy but no one was to blame.
She said: “We as a family wanted to thank you all for your kind messages and love. We’re devastated and trying to come to terms with what has happened.
“We wanted people to know there was no fault and it was a freak accident.”
South Wales Police said they had been called to the school but there were no suspicious circumstances and investigation on behalf of the coroner was under way.
Penrhys Primary School shut to all pupil following the event but said it was reopening this morning.
In a post on the school’s Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon the head teacher thanked parents for their messages of support and confirmed the school would be closed after the tragedy.
It said: “Due to the traumatic event that happened at our lovely school this afternoon we will be closed for all children tomorrow. “School will be open for children and staff again on Friday.”
Local councillor for Tylorstown and Ynyshir Julie Edwards said the matter was being investigated by South Wales Police and urged residents to not speculate to stop misinformation spreading.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police is investigating the sudden death of an eight-year-old girl in Ferndale.
“Emergency services were called to Penrhys Primary School in Ferndale just after 2pm on Wednesday, October 8, to reports of a medical episode. The girl was taken to hospital where she later died.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and an investigation on behalf of the coroner is now under way.”
Cllr Julie Edwards posted the following statement on social media: “I’ve been made aware of a tragic incident which occurred in Penrhys on Wednesday.
“South Wales Police are fully investigating the matter and more details will be released shortly.”
1 week agoNews TvComments Off on Man Utd send fans survey asking if they’d pay £5,000 for season ticket at new stadium – a 300% increase on Old Trafford
MANCHESTER UNITED have asked fans whether they would be willing to pay more than FOUR TIMES as much for a season ticket at a new stadium than what they currently pay at Old Trafford.
Red Devils chiefs are pressing ahead with plans for a stunning new £2billion stadium, which aims to be completed by 2030 and seat 100,000 fans.
APMan Utd chiefs have launched a fan survey about their plans for the new stadium[/caption]
APFans were asked if they would be willing to pay more than four times as much for a season ticket than at Old Trafford currently[/caption]
As part of their steps towards the new stadium, the club has emailed season-ticket holders and members to gauge opinion on some of the plans.
The survey – sent to members, season ticket holders, and executive club members – is the biggest fan research initiative conducted as part of the project so far.
Under a personal seat licence (PSL), a fan who buys a licence would still pay separately for a season ticket but retain the option to sell the licence to someone else if they choose not to renew their tickets.
However, it was also indicated that fans could be asked to pay as much as £4,830 for a season ticket in the lower tier of the new Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.
That figure is more than four times the amount of the most expensive season ticket for the 2025/26 season, which stands at £1,121.
Meanwhile, the cost of the cheapest season ticket available in the upper-tier corner near the East Stand would cost £570, which is £38 less than the cheapest adult season ticket currently available.
Indicative prices at “Executive Club” level go all the way up to a staggering £424,800 a season for a 16-person private box.
As reported by The Times, United also appear to be eyeing a “Tunnel Club” feature, like one introduced by rivals Manchester City at the Etihad in 2017, for a cost of up to £26,550 per person.
United insist “no pricing decisions have been made” on the costs listed in the survey, which added: “We want to keep our cheapest tickets at widely-accessible levels.
“To do this we must develop the best and most premium options in the market to subsidise lower-cost tickets.”
They add the wide range of pricing options represents best practice for “exploring the possibility of personal seat licences” which could form part of the “major investment” required to build a new stadium.
United told SunSport: “We will also test demands at much lower price points, including some lower than current levels.”
Last year, 52 per cent of United fans surveyed supported the building of a new stadium, while 31 per cent supported refurbishing the existing Old Trafford.

1 week agoNews TvComments Off on Three Man Utd kits for 2026-27 ‘LEAKED’ as club pay tribute to iconic shirts from the 1970s… and return of ‘lucky’ blue
MANCHESTER UNITED’S home kit for the 2026-27 season will reportedly pay tribute to their iconic shirts from the 1970s after three jerseys were leaked online.
The 70s weren’t the most successful period in United’s history but they did bring eye-catching kits .
PA:Empics SportManchester United’s 2026-27 kit will reportedly pay tribute to their iconic 1970s shirts[/caption]
Rex FeaturesThe away kit leaks claim it will feature a blue and red colour scheme[/caption]
Some fans will remember the team lifting the FA Cup in 1977 under Tommy Docherty in a V-neck shirt with a red and white pattern on the collar and sleeves.
According to Footy Headlines, United will make a nod to those popular designs from manufacturer Admiral between 1975 and 1980 for next season’s kits.
The leak claims the 2026-27 Adidas kit will feature the same collar and cuff design in a bid to capture the “vintage charm” from that era.
The away and third kits have also reportedly been leaked and some supporters will be pleased about the prospect of the club’s “lucky blue” returning.
The leak claims the away shirt will be dark blue and red, a popular design colour that was last seen in the 2016-17 season.
We also saw the same colours incorporated in away kit designs during the 1980s – particularly between 1985 and 1988.
A third kit is also shown in the leak, using colours of off white, dark green and maroon.
United used a similar colour scheme for their away kit during the 2023-24 season.
Some fans have been reacting to the designs on social media but there was a mixed reception.
One said: “This is awesome but stop with the collars, they’re so uncomfortable.”
Another added: “Red and white is the way a United shirt always should be. Red and black doesn’t look as clean or nice so I’m happy we’re bringing back red and white.”
However, a third wrote: “Always paying homage to old things can we start with new ideas?”
Jimmy Greenhoff wears a classic Man Utd kit v Chelsea’s David Stride in 1978RexRexUnited’s third kit will reportedly use similar colours to their dark green 2023-24 shirt[/caption]
Some pointed out that the designs were an ominous sign for the current team amid their struggles under Ruben Amorim given that United were relegated in the 1970s.
One added: “I’d say the 70s was one of the least iconic eras in Utd’s history.”
And another said: “Wasn’t it the 70s where we got relegated…”
United are currently playing in a primarily red home shirt with black strips on the shoulders – but it hasn’t helped the club’s fortunes on the pitch.
The Red Devils are 10th in the table after three wins, one draw and three defeats in the Premier League this season.
They travel to champions Liverpool after the international break, hoping to secure back-to-back wins after beating Sunderland 2-0 last time out.

SPAIN is braced for Storm Alice today just hours after horror flooding wreaked havoc in the country’s holiday hotspots.
A red warning has been issued with officials cautioning residents to avoid driving as treacherous weather tears through the region.

The alert – in place from 10am today until midnight – affects locals on the southern coast of Alicante and in some areas of Murcia, including Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón.
Torrential showers have already caused chaos in holiday hotspot Ibiza and Cartagena with flash flooding reported across parts of the regions.
Spain‘s weather forecaster AEMET warned of “extraordinary danger” and urged residents to take extra caution when venturing outside.
Alicante’s fire service said they carried out 31 emergency operations over the course of a day – pulling obstacles out of water-logged roads.
Classes have been put on hold in the Levante region as locals brace for the worst of Storm Alice.
While 142 incidents were recorded across Murcia this morning because of the blizzard.
Emergency services received a staggering 161 calls overnight requesting urgent help clearing the floods.
Firefighters, police and other emergency crew remain on high alert after an elderly resident in the Murcian district of Los Dolores suffered minor injuries from a collapsed roof.
Emergency services in holiday hotspot Ibiza are braced for a busy few days as the area was put on orange alert for rain and storms.
The biblical downpours have ravaged the country over the last month.
Just yesterday, authorities warned of “extraordinary danger” as flash floods erupted across Valencia.
Rain is expected to pummel the region with 250 millimetres of water due by Sunday.
It comes just days after the region was placed on red alert as Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez urged locals to follow guidance issued by emergency services in a bid to avoid last year’s devastation.
The horrific 2024 floods caused the deaths of about 232 people and ransacked Valencia’s communities.
Sánchez previously called for locals to take “great caution” in the face of the heavy rains.

Last month, heartstopping clips of Tarragona showed broken trees and upturned cars as the brutal water tore through towns.
Video also showed motorists stuck inside their vehicles waiting to be rescued.
Authorities quickly labelled streets “death traps” and urged residents to remain at home as much as possible.
Storm Alice is a DANA – which stands for “Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos,” or “isolated depression at high altitudes”.
The “cold drop” phenomenon occurs when more warm and moist Mediterranean air than usual is sucked high into the atmosphere after a cold system hits the country.
The temperature difference between the cold air aloft and the warm surface air creates instability, leading to rapid uplift of warm, moist air and the formation of intense thunderstorms.
