‘Worst situation’ – Anthony Taylor says family haven’t been to game in TWO YEARS after sick abuse… and blames Mourinho
ANTHONY TAYLOR revealed his family have not been to a match for two years due to sick abuse.
And the referee partly blamed Jose Mourinho for the shocking ordeal which prompted their decision.

Taylor, 46, took charge of the 2023 Europa League final as Sevilla beat Mourinho’s Roma on penalties.
He showed 15 yellow cards – including to the Roma gaffer – and added 25 minutes of stoppage time but did not make any major errors.
However, Mourinho labelled Taylor a “f***ing disgrace” then confronted him in the car park.
And when the referee walked through Budapest Airport with his family, they were targeted by angry Roma supporters.
One even tried to throw a chair at them as police protected the Taylor family.
Now speaking publicly about the awful, scary scenes for the first time, Taylor opened up on the impact of the incident.
He told BBC Sport: “That’s the worst situation I’ve dealt with in terms of abuse.
“Not only because I was travelling with family members at the time, but it also highlights the impact of people’s behaviour on others.
CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS
“Even in a match like that, where there was actually no major mistakes in the game.
“For me, that’s a great source of disappointment, frustration, anger.
“Why that’s acceptable, I don’t know – because I’m sure those individuals wouldn’t like somebody to turn around and say that to them or their own children.
“It makes you reflect back on whether you made a mistake travelling with your family in the first place.
“They haven’t been to one [match] since.”
Asked if Mourinho’s comments may have contributed to the fan behaviour, he added: “Yeah. I think if we’re being honest, yeah.”
Taylor is in his 17th season as a Premier League referee and officiated at the last three major international tournaments – as well as the “absolutely brutal” Club World Cup.
And although he still reckons it is “one of the best jobs in the world”, he admitted the scrutiny and treatment does take its toll.
Taylor continued: “The amount of scrutiny and the amount of analysis and chat around Premier League football means everybody has a quest for perfection.
‘PERFECTION DOESN’T EXIST’
“In reality, perfection doesn’t exist. We’re expecting referees to get every decision right.
“It is really important that we actually start to talk about people being fearful of failure or mistakes.
“If you’re continually told you’re not very good, whether that be by people in the media, by pundits, or even ex-officials, then people’s mental health could potentially suffer.
“The footballing culture in general is, ‘we need to win this game at all costs’.
“The lengths that people go to post-game with a lot of things now to spread false narratives, to spread malicious conspiracy theories… it creates a hugely negative environment for people to operate in.
“A football season is not dependent on one match official decision. It’s not dependent on one player missing one penalty in a game. It’s not dependent on one coach making one tactical error during a game. Playing over 38 games…
“So you say the argument one decision has cost somebody the whole season… it’s just factually not true because there’ll be plenty of other incidents in a game or over that season where the results of games have been affected.”

Vegas tourist claims popular hotel charged her $224 for unplugging power outlet: ‘Ain’t no way’
Six popular beers that don’t use the original recipe including Guinness – and the two with MORE alcohol
THERE is nothing more British better than a pint down the pub.
But most of the beer you drink today is quite different to the original recipe used.

Paul Hunter from beer tour company Ale Hunters said there are many reasons why beer recipes are changed.
The availability of ingredients has a baring on the recipes of major brewers.
Sometimes poor harvests, for instance, will force a brewer to adapt a recipe accordingly.
Tax and government policy also has a major impact. For example, Paul says: “During the first world war the UK government introduced restrictions upon the strength of UK beers, reducing the abv.”
At the same time, people’s tastes change over time.
Paul said: “In the 19th century the previous taste for soured, aged ‘stale’ beers shifted to fresher, lighter ‘running’ beers.
“This led to the decline of the former beers including IPA which eventually became ‘bitter’.
But much of it simply comes down to cost versus taste.
Paul adds: “The increasing costs associated with producing beer can lead to a revisiting of all cost streams to make beer more profitable.”
Here are the ways in which your favourite beers have changed over time…
Carlsberg

Back in 2019, Carlsberg changed its recipe in the UK aiming for a “smoother, fuller mouth-feel” as well as “a perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness”.
It comes after Carlsberg taste quality had been slammed by customers.
The brewer said the beer has been completely “rebrewed from head to hop”.
At the time, Bhavya Mandanna, master brewer at Carlsberg UK, said: “Our new Pilsner has a fuller body and a perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness made possible through modifications to our brewing process and the addition of bittering hops in the brewhouse.
“Aroma hops with citrus and floral top notes give a greater depth of flavour whilst maintaining the light and refreshing qualities of Carlsberg.”
Since then, the pilsner has actually increased its alcohol content with a current ABV of 5% up from 3.8% in 2019 which will be reflected in the taste.
The firm admits that the recipe is constantly changing. On its site it says: “More than 100 years after our founder J.C. Jacobsen mastered the art of brewing great Pilsner, we’re still looking for ways to improve our beer.”
Newcastle Brown Ale
The recipe for Newcastle Brown Ale changed in 2015 following fears over one of its ingredients – a potentially cancer-causing colouring.
The caramel colouring was used to give the ale its distinctive tint.
Instead the ingredient was swapped out for roasted malts to achieve a similar colour.
None of the beer’s ingredients were subject to any restrictions, but owner Heineken said it had listened to “consumer concerns” when making the changes.
Paul adds: ” Many beers in the UK at the beginning of the 20th century were still using colouring as it was cheaper than darker malt (milds for example).
“Popular opinion was that the colouring was cancer related so they used a roasted malt instead.
“It’s an interesting one as Newcastle Brown in the bottle is almost always faulted as the glass is clear.
“Light reacts with the hop oils which creates a chemical compound that is unpleasant. Newcastle Brown in a can or keg tastes different.”
London Pride
The recipe of London Pride has changed constantly over the years since it first started brewing in 1951.
The original recipe featured flaked barley and sugar. It has since introduced crystal malt and chocolate malt.
The one ingredient that has stayed constant is pale malt.
Guinness

The history of Guinness is currently the subject of Netflix blockbuster House of Guinness from its origins in Dublin in the 1700s.
The famed Irish stout has seen its formula change many times over this time.
And in the early 1980s the drink was relaunched using pale malt for the first time.
Paul Hunter said: “Guinness is one of the world’s innovators in many spheres.
“They changed their ingredients for the main beer in the 20th century, adding roasted unmalted barley to the roasted malt which impacted on colour and flavour.
“Then the big change was in 1959 when they changed the package from a cask beer to a bright/keg beer.
“Cask Guinness had a smooth, full bodied mouth-feel due to the ‘double pour’.”
This meant switching to using nitrogen as part of the process which changed the texture and flavour of the drink.
Paul adds: “Another ‘innovation’ was introducing ‘extra cold’ Guinness in 1998.
“This was to satisfy fans of cold lagers and pale ales but reducing temperature does negatively impact on flavour.”
He recommends that If you want to try ‘old style’ Guinness head to the Coach and Horses, Wellington Street in London where they serve iro 60 kegs a week of 8 degree Guinness.
Punk IPA
BrewDog‘s Punk IPA has been changed many times since its 2007 launch.
The most notable change included lowering the ABV from 6% down to 5.4% in 2021 changing the flavour of the beer.
It’s thought the main reason for doing so was a cost-saving measure.
By its own admission, Brewdog says: “Punk IPA is constantly reinventing itself to stand the test of time and remain a giant among beer.”
Heineken
Dutch brewer Heineken upped the alcohol content of its beer sold in the UK in 2003.
The beer had an ABV of 3.4% which was produced at a lower strength especially for Brits.
This was then increased to 5% in line with the drink sold in continental Europe.
How can I save money at Wetherspoons?
PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals - but did you know there are more ways to save money?
Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how.
Free refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.
Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.
So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.
Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.
For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.
Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in
their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.
Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.
Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.
Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.
As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.

The £14 toy set to rival Labubu for Xmas – you can nab it on Amazon and it doesn’t have those creepy teeth
The £14 toy set to rival Labubu for Xmas – you can nab it online and it doesn’t have those creepy teeth
THEY have been seen dangling from the bags of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Rihanna and Paris Hilton.
Labubu dolls have indeed become the must-have status symbol for kids all over the globe.

However, there’s a new toy in town – and it’s set to rival the furry toy monsters.
While the Labubu trend is still going strong – with Gemma Collins and Olivia Attwood loving the pricey accessory – the devilish grins should be careful.
With a few stores already popping up in the UK, Pop Mart’s influence around the world has never been bigger, and the next viral trend comes from inside its doors.
Welcome: Crybaby.
You may have seen these little creatures popping up on your For You Page on social media already, as Emily Brough, Pop Mart’s head of IP Licensing for the Americas, said the figure has grown nearly 250% year-over-year.
They’ve gained enough popularity that one of their latest series’, Crying For Love, was made into a giant installation in a shopping centre in Hong Kong in July, TimeOut reported.
Crybaby isn’t a boy, a girl, or even human, according to Pop Mart.
Instead, the adorable toy embodies the ‘‘deep, inner feelings we all experience’’, representing ‘’every shade of emotion’’.
What makes them so popular, you may wonder?
It could be that the Crybaby is normalising ‘’feeling your feelings’’ that makes them so relatable to shoppers – or simply because they’re cuter than the viral Labubu with their scary gnashers.
Influencer and Love Island UK alumni Millie Court shared an unboxing of Crybaby toys earlier this year.
“They’re super cute,” she said in a video posted on TikTok.
“I’ve been having a look on Pop Mart, on Amazon, to see what else I could get to do some more blind box opening, because I’ve clearly got an obsession!”
What are Labubu and why are they so popular?
LABUBU is a brand of plushies designed by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung and loved by celebrities like Olivia Attwood, Dua Lipa and Rihanna.
The brand made its debut in 2015, but skyrocketed in global popularity after hitting Pop Mart shelves in 2019.
Pop Mart is a Chinese toy retailer, known for its collectible designer models that are often sold in a blind box format, meaning you don’t know what you’ve got until you’ve opened it.
After mammoth success overseas, the Labubu craze has now made its way to the UK.
The first three months of 2025 were wildly successful for the brand, with Brits searching high and low to nab one of the quirky figurines.
Since opening stores in London and Manchester over the last 12 months, Labubu dolls have become cult collectibles among grown British women.
Labubus come in an array of vibrant colours, unique shapes and various sizes, spanning from plush toys to striking vinyl figures.
They come as little toys you can hook on your handbag, as well as mega-sized figures and quirky home decorations.
Although Pop Mart does have stores in the UK, they’re far and few, with branches in London and Manchester.
Those who don’t live nearby can order them directly from the website – or find the adorable toys on Amazon, where some versions sell for as little as £14.
Meanwhile, a single Labubu doll can set you back anywhere from £13.50 to £211 depending on the rarity of the design.
Dodgy dealers looking to make a quick buck are using underhand tactics to profit off shoppers – and experts have warned the dodgy dolls pose a serious risk, The Sun previously reported.
The ”dangerous counterfeits” could pose a choking hazard for children, Hull City Council’s Trading Standards team told Mail Online.
Rogue traders are cashing in on their popularity by selling poor-quality versions with small parts that can easily detach.
Hundred have been seized, but it is feared there could be many more still on sale across the nation.
