Six ways to make home feel more cosy this autumn… with a comeback trend & the ‘colour drenching’ tip pros swear by

LOOKING for some clever ways to make your home feel more cosy this autumn?

Before you rush out and spend any money on new cushions, lighting and paint, consider these trends the pros swear by instead.

Adding more lamps to your home is a great way to create a cosy feeling[/caption]

You don’t have to completely redecorate your home to achieve a fresh look.

Go for chrome

It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of cosy rooms, but chrome accessories are set to be big this season.

Chrome is a powerful tool for creating clean, contemporary spaces. Its highly reflective finish introduces a sense of precision, light and sophistication,’ Shelley Cochrane, accessories buyer at Furniture Village, told House Beautiful.

A little goes a long way when it comes to this trend, the pro noted, so think of small and subtle chrome accessories like jewellery for the room, she explained.

Add more lamps

You might already switch on a lamp and turn of any overhead lighting in the evening for that cosy feeling, but you can take it one step further by adding more.

A mixture of floor lamps, sconces, and table lamps with with coloured or frosted glass can create a varied and stylish look.

Colour drenching

It’s a trend that’s been big for a while now, and colour drenching won’t be going anywhere this autumn and winter.

In fact, using one colour on your walls and ceilings might just be the way to make your home feel warm and inviting.

Comfort with cocoa

If you’re unsure which colour to lean into this season, go for cocoa.

The warm neutral shade feels more luxurious than similar options and can instantly add a richness to any room.

“Where camel and greige once dominated as neutrals, cocoa offers something deeper and more luxurious – a shade that immediately adds richness to a room,” Jason Wilary-Attew, director of home at John Lewis told House Beautiful.

He suggested looking for cushions, blankets and other upholstery with the tone of a deep hot chocolate and combining with colours like deep green and brass.

Nordic style

If you want to add some colour to your home this autumn but keep the cool Scandi style, this is for you.

Think calming neutrals with a burst of colour in the form of block patterns.

Green and yellow

A shade between green and yellow, this earthy tone is reminiscent of 70s home trends.

It’s a great choice for south-facing rooms if you want a retro vibe that also feels fresh.
