LATAM Airlines will open a new air corridor between South America and the Western Cape in September 2026.
The airline will be introducing a nonstop service between São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport and Cape Town International Airport.
The route is set to run three times a week and is expected to shorten travel times for leisure and business travellers, while also strengthening trade routes across the Atlantic.
LATAM to fly to Cape Town
Wesgro CEO and Cape Town Air Access spokesperson Wrenelle Stander described the move as a clear win for the province.
She said the new link fits directly into the Western Cape’s long-term growth plans, which focus on accelerating ties with high-potential markets.
According to Stander, the route gives the Mother City a stronger global presence and unlocks new possibilities for tourism, investment and commercial partnerships.
LATAM will release scheduling details and ticket information closer to the launch date, but the announcement has already been met with strong enthusiasm across both regions.
The route is set to become one of the most significant new long-haul connections for Cape Town in recent years.
