About the Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore Learnership Programme
Anglo American, one of the world’s leading mining companies, is offering an excellent opportunity for unemployed South African youth aged 18–35 to develop technical and engineering skills through the Kumba Iron Ore Engineering Learnership Programme.
This structured learnership provides a pathway into a sustainable career in the mining industry. Successful learners will receive hands-on training, classroom instruction, and the chance to gain a nationally recognised qualification — all while learning from experienced industry professionals.
What the Programme Offers
The Engineering Learnership Programme runs for 36 to 39 months, combining theoretical classroom education with practical workplace exposure at Kolomela and Sishen operations.
Learners will receive professional mentorship and the opportunity to qualify in various engineering trades essential to mining and maintenance operations.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID
- Be 18–35 years old
- Hold a valid Driver’s Licence
- Be unemployed
- Provide proof of residential address
- Pass a Medical Fitness and Risk Fitness Assessment (RFA)
Educational Requirements
Applicants must meet the subject and grade requirements based on their chosen trade:
