Many supporters of Bafana Bafana expressed their disappointment after a clip surfaced showing South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan observing the national team’s training session on Tuesday.
Bafana Bafana is gearing up for a crucial match against Rwanda as they aim to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The situation became more challenging a few weeks ago when FIFA deducted three points from South Africa for fielding an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena, during their World Cup qualifier against Lesotho on 21 March.
Many soccer fans across the country blamed Safa for this error and called for Danny Jordaan and others to take responsibility and resign from their positions.
Jordaan’s appearance at Bafana’s training session, just one day before their qualifier match, received a negative reaction from fans on social media.
What Bafana fans said about Jordaan on X
“Why do we still tolerate this guy to be safa president it makes me so angry he doesnt know a thing about ball and sa football has been stagnant for decades,” user @iamshuaibk wrote.
“Bad omen. ANC and football must not mix!” @mandazafg tweeted.
“He is with Vincent Tseka, the team manager who caused us three points and 3 goals,” @matlharini1 tweeted.
Many believe Bafana would have been in a great position to qualify if Jordaan and Safa did their job.
@MkhukhuQueen_ wrote: “We would be sitting nicely on 18 points by now if not for the incompetence of these useless guys at SAFA.
@JoshuaRamoshaba wrote: “What’s even sadder is that some of the players from the golden age are still very much alive: Doctor Khumalo, Lucas Radebe, Eric Tinkler, the guys who I strongly believe should manage the SAFA house.”
Jordaan and other Safa delegates are expected to be at Mbombela on Tuesday evening as Bafana look to qualify for their first World Cup in 15 years.
