A light aircraft carrying tourists and a Kenyan pilot has crashed en route to the Maasai Mara, killing all 12 people on board.
Mombasa Air Safari Limited confirmed the tragic incident earlier today, 28th October 2025. The aircraft, with registration number 5Y-CCA, was operating a scheduled flight from Diani Airport, a popular coastal tourist spot, to the Kichwa Tembo private resort within the Maasai Mara National Game Park.
The airline released a statement expressing profound regret, confirming that there were 10 passengers and two crew members on the flight. Later details from the press release specified the victims included eight Hungarian nationals, two Germans, and one Kenyan crew member (the Captain). The total confirmed fatalities stands at twelve.
“Sadly, there are no survivors,” the statement read.
Mombasa Air Safari Limited has activated its emergency response team and is fully cooperating with the authorities who have launched an investigation.
Their immediate focus is on supporting the affected families, for whom a dedicated Family Assistance Team has been established.
