Aldi has launched a dupe of a popular M&S and Tesco viral treat and it only costs £2

ALDI has launched a dupe of a popular M&S and Tesco viral treat and it only costs £2.

The German discounter has plans to sell its own take of the popular dessert sandwich.

Aldi Cake will launch in stores soon

Shoppers went wild over the summer for the M&S Red Diamond Strawberry & Crème Sandwich.

The £2.80 luxury sweet bread sandwich came packed with strawberries and a whipped cream cheese filling and was inspired by a viral Japanese treat.

It was a limited edition snack, meaning shoppers can no longer get their hands on the treat.

Tesco then launched a birthday cake sandwich, featuring the flflavours of a classic Victoria Sponge but with birthday cake-style sprinkles inside.

But customers were left divided over its take on the viral snack with some loving it, however others branded it “disgusting”.

And now Aldi is the latest grocer to jump on the bandwagon.

Its new cake sandwich will be available in stores from October 13 and will cost £1.99.

Customers can expect to tuck into vanilla sponge, vanilla frosting, and rainbow sprinkles.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “The nation made it clear: cake beats crusts every time.

“We’ve taken the hint and delivered exactly what shoppers have asked for. True to form, our Cake Sandwich is simple yet delicious — creating the perfect pick-me-up treat that truly delivers.”

If you are keen to shop the treat you will need to visit a physical branch as Aldi does not have an online store.

You can find your nearest branch by visiting, stores.aldi.co.uk.

The snack is a limited edition product, so won’t be around for long.

How to save money at Aldi

Unlike other major grocers, Aldi does not have a rewards or point card system but that does not mean you cannot save on your shop.

Every week the store releases a list of special buys , which are unique bargain products you find online at Aldi and in store.

The store releases a fresh range of deals every Thursday and Sunday, so be sure to check regularly to see what’s new.

Meanwhile, the store also regularly sells fruit and vegetables at highly discounted prices, as part of its ‘super six’ deal.

It also does weekly saving offers on typically pricey items such as meat and fish.

Just this week, the store revealed it would roll out a new dedicated reduction zones to make it easier for customers to spot bargains.

These special areas in store will feature discounted bread, fresh produce, and other perishable items nearing their use-by date.

Items are discounted throughout the day, offering shoppers the chance to save on products that might otherwise go unsold.
