Airlink is making travel to one of the world’s most remote islands a little easier.
The regional carrier has announced an expanded 18-month forward flight schedule to the island of St Helena.
The plan was developed in collaboration with St Helena Tourism to add more flight options and flexibility for travellers who want to plan their travels.
Airlink increases flights to St Helena
The move strengthens Airlink’s role as the island’s primary air connection to the outside world and reflects growing interest in St Helena as a niche travel destination known for its rugged beauty, rich history, and distinctive isolation.
Under the new schedule, Airlink will continue operating its weekly Saturday service between Johannesburg and St Helena, maintaining the route that has long served as the island’s main air bridge.
Additionally, the airline will launch a seasonal Tuesday return flight between Cape Town and St Helena, operating from mid-December 2026 to mid-March 2027.
The added frequency during the southern summer is expected to support both tourism growth and the island’s broader economic development.
While the 18-month schedule has been published, flights will remain bookable only up to 360 days in advance, consistent with industry booking systems.
“We are proud to continue connecting St Helena to the world through our Johannesburg and seasonal Cape Town services,” said Katherine Whelan, Airlink’s Chief Commercial Officer said as per Travelnews.
“The release of this extended schedule gives travellers the confidence to plan well in advance and supports the island’s ongoing tourism and economic development. St Helena is a remarkable destination, and Airlink is delighted to play a role in opening it up to more visitors.” she added.
