About the Internship Programme
The ARC is seeking highly skilled and motivated graduates to join its research team focused on DNA marker technologies and molecular breeding in support of plant breeding programmes. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in plant biotechnology, genomics, and molecular research within a leading agricultural research institution.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to ongoing research projects in DNA marker technologies and molecular breeding.
- Design and implement molecular breeding experiments with breeders.
- Stay updated with developments in DNA marker technologies.
- Capture, analyse, and interpret research data accurately.
- Compile internal and external progress reports.
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate students, research technicians, and assistants.
- Disseminate research findings through scientific and popular publications.
- Ensure compliance with HR, SHE, and OHS policies and procedures.
Requirements
- MSc in Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Plant Breeding, or Genetics.
- Strong background in molecular biology and plant molecular markers.
- Experience in genetic data analysis tools.
- Excellent data collection accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong research project planning and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
