Afrikaner ‘refugee’ on GoFundMe campaign: ‘We need cash’

Afrikaner “refugee” Errol Langton has shared an update about a GoFundMe initiative he started to raise funds for his wife’s recent cancer diagnosis.

Last month, the IT businessman and part-time farmer, who is now working in the US as a car wash supervisor, launched a campaign to raise $50 000 (over R800 000).

Errol and his family were one of the first groups of white South Africans who arrived in the US in May under President Donald Trump’s refugee programme. According to Trump, the racial minority are victims of “racial discrimination” and “white genocide”.

ERROL LANGTON ON GOFUNDME: ‘WE NEED CASH’

Last month, Errol Langton launched a GoFundMe account to fund his wife Jacqueline’s cervical cancer treatment.

The goal is $50 000, which is around R870 000.

Langton – who had his own IT business in South Africa, and is now an Afrikaner “refugee”  – claims the health prognosis will mean he will work fewer hours at his new job as a car wash supervisor.

The South African shared an update that he would also offer his skills in business operations, tech, marketing, and project strategy in exchange for help.

He posted: “Yes, we need cash input to bridge this season — but we’re also builders, not just receivers. If we can exchange expertise for your donation, we’d prefer it that way”.

Langton had previously claimed his wife’s cancer diagnosis was another “battle” to overcome.

He shared: “Our family recently immigrated to the USA from South Africa as refugees. We’ve survived threats and attacks in South Africa and rebuilt from scratch here in the USA.  The irony isn’t lost on us: after surviving so much, we now face a new battle—not just against cancer, but against the crushing financial strain it brings”.

AFRIKANER REFUGEE FAMILY – DO THEY HAVE MEDICAL AID?

According to Errol Langton, all Afrikaner refugee families were put on a 12-month Medicaid plan after arriving in the US.

His wife – who has already started chemo-radiation – will have to endure medical treatment for the next two years.

He shared: “The fundraising is simply to prepare us for when our cover runs out or there are a bunch of bills that start piling up.

“We are simply trying to be proactive but we do not have a huge medical aid bill to pay at all.
