ACSA’s latest stats reveal the most on-time SA airlines and airports

South Africa’s airport network delivered steady punctuality in September 2025, with overall On-Time Performance (OTP) across all monitored airports reaching 87.23 percent.

According to ACSA, this performance was measured as flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes of schedule at South African airports.

The result falls short of a national target of 95 per cent, indicating room for improvement, even though some major hubs outperformed or nearly reached their defined benchmarks.

The stats from ACSA indicated that September marked a month of stable but uneven performance across South Africa’s airport network.

Domestic carriers such as FlySafair and Airlink continued to lead in punctuality, reinforcing their reputations for operational discipline.

Cape Town International Airport narrowly surpassed its 90 percent On-Time Performance target, while O.R. Tambo International, the country’s busiest hub, remained just under its 87 percent goal, closing at 85.87 percent.

Performance among regional airports varied. Kimberley Airport stood out with 90.69 percent punctuality, while Bram Fischer and George Airports both recorded figures below expectations.

Top performing airlines in September 2025

The data also revealed that FlySafair and Airlink were South Africa’s most punctual airlines in September 2025.

  • FlySafair achieved over 90 percent On-Time Performance across multiple airports, including 90.31 percent at O.R. Tambo, 93.14 percent at Cape Town, and 91.97 percent at King Shaka International.
  • Airlink followed closely, posting 87.50 percent at O.R. Tambo, 92.16 percent at Cape Town, and an exceptional 95.42 percent at King Shaka.
  • South African Airways maintained mid-80s reliability for On-Time Performance, reflecting a gradual recovery in post-pandemic scheduling stability.
