A milestone year: SANParks achieves record revenue in 2024/25

South African National Parks (SANParks) has reported a record revenue for the 2024/25 financial year.

Presenting to Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, the organisation shared results that signal continued progress and resilience.

According to Chief Executive Officer Hapiloe Sello, SANParks achieved an 11% increase in revenue, rising from R3.67 billion to R4.1 billion in the 2024/25 financial year, the first time the organisation has passed the R4-billion mark, with around 75% of this income coming from commercial activities.

Sello also noted that SANParks maintains a net cash balance of R2.7 billion and a strong solvency position, with total assets exceeding liabilities by R3.7 billion. These figures reflect healthy financial management and a stable outlook for the organisation.

In addition, the parks body received an unqualified audit opinion, affirming sound financial governance. The Auditor-General’s report noted continued improvements in financial statements and supply chain management, with no material findings identified.

Operationally, SANParks met 86% of its annual performance targets, exceeding 18 of them.

Sello said the results reflect the dedication of SANParks’ staff and partners, adding that the organisation remains focused on conservation, sustainable development, and inclusive growth.
