Entrepreneurial firebrand Lekau Sehoana is back on the scene, launching a brand-new footwear line, KITE, just months after the highly publicised collapse of his previous venture, DRIP.
Sehoana first shot to fame in 2019 when he founded DRIP, turning a simple idea into a national phenomenon with stores across the country.
However, the remarkable success story hit a devastating snag when the company faced liquidation, resulting in the closure of over 25 retail shops and the loss of hundreds of jobs.
Sehoana’s dedication to business never wavered.
Following a period of introspection and involvement in various commissions of enquiry, he served as CEO for a supermarket start-up before its recent acquisition—a move that underscored his unwavering business acumen.
Now, he is betting big again on the local sneaker market with KITE. The new brand has already been warmly received by sneaker enthusiasts, suggesting that the public is ready to back his next chapter.

Introducing his latest creation, Sehoana reflected on the journey:
“Six years ago I founded a brand called DRIP… after five years of successful trading and hundreds of jobs created, it later got liquidated. Yesterday I launched my new brand called KITE SA.”
He sees KITE as a symbol of growth, maturity, and learning from past mistakes.
“KITE is a brand that I look at and think growth and maturity. While also having fun and introspecting into what we have done wrong and how to learn from that,” he stated.
