The Executive Mayor of Rand West City Local Municipality invites students to apply for the 2026 Mayoral Bursary Programme.

Bursary Location: Rand West City Local Municipality, Gauteng (Randfontein & Westonaria), South Africa
Funding is aimed at undergraduate studies and artisan training for residents of Rand West City (Gauteng) in fields such as:
- Agriculture
- Energy
- Engineering
- Environmental Health
- Finance
- Information Technology
- Mining
- Public & Business Management
- Other Scarce & Critical Skills informed by municipal needs (at the Executive Mayor’s discretion)
What the Bursary Covers
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Study materials
- May also cover accommodation and food allowance (subject to individual need)
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Reside within Rand West City Local Municipality (Gauteng)
- Be in Matric currently, or have completed Matric
- Plan to study full-time an undergraduate qualification in the listed fields
- Be studying or provisionally accepted at a public university or public institution of higher learning in South Africa
- Pursue a qualification with a minimum duration of 1 year or 3/4 academic years
- Have a combined household income ≤ R350 000 per annum
- Preference: families on the indigent database and disadvantaged backgrounds
Required Supporting Documents
(Submit with the completed application form—incomplete applications may be disqualified.)
- Certified copy of ID document
- Matric latest results (if currently in Matric) / Matric certificate (if completed)
- Recent academic record (if currently studying)
- Proof of application/admission/provisional admission to a tertiary institution (include projected duration, course scope, tuition costs)
- Proof of residence
- Certified copies of parents/guardians’ ID documents
- Parents’ death certificate(s), if applicable (certified)
- Household income proof: latest payslips (if employed) / affidavit (if unemployed or self-employed) / proof of social grant (if applicable)
- Doctor’s certificate (if permanently disabled)
