  • ActionSA has partnered with two smaller movements in a bid to grow its footprint and restore faith in South Africa’s future.
  • The alliance will add seven councillors to the party and aims to reach more communities nationwide.
  • Herman Mashaba says the merger is about unity, shared values, and preparing for the 2026 local government elections.

ActionSA has joined hands with the Azanian Independent Community Movement and the Creatives Congress Movement in a bid to restore and fix South Africa ahead of the 2026 local elections.

The partnership, announced on Monday by ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba, will see the party’s representation grow by seven councillors.

Mashaba says the partnership is not about power, but about restoring faith that South Africa can still be fixed.

“What should be clear to all of us is that the work of fixing South Africa is bigger than any one party or leader. This is why ActionSA continues to keep its doors open to all like-minded political parties and civic formations that share our values and commitment to building a capable and ethical state.”

The Azanian Independent Community Movement is a political party with a stronghold in Taung, North West. Led by Wiseman Dibakwe, the party currently has seven councillors who will now also represent ActionSA.

The Creative Congress Movement is an artists’ movement whose membership is expected to attract more supporters, particularly in the arts space.

The movement is led by Tshepo Mashiane, a former council member of the National Arts Council of South Africa.

Mashaba says the aim of the merger is to reach more South Africans in various parts of the country.

He thanked the leaders and members of the two parties who have agreed to walk hand in hand with ActionSA, as the party prepares for the 2026 local government elections.

He added that the alliance will demonstrate that ActionSA is stronger, more united, and ready to lead in municipalities across South Africa.
