Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
- Have no criminal record or pending cases
- Successfully complete vetting, security screening, and fingerprint verification
- Have completed Grade 10 (Standard 8) / NQF Level 3
- Be registered with PSIRA
- Possess a Grade C Security Certificate or higher
- Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm
- Be willing to undergo and maintain firearm competency training
- Be willing to work shifts and extended hours
Added advantages:
- Degree or Diploma in Security Services
- Relevant security-related courses
- Valid driver’s licence (light motor vehicle)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Security Officers will be responsible for:
- Access control in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985)
- Positive identification of employees, visitors, and contractors
- Registering and electronically searching all persons entering premises
- Issuing and controlling visitor access cards
- Vehicle and equipment access control
- Guarding vehicles and equipment
- Conducting patrols of buildings and fenced areas
- Monitoring security equipment and reporting defects
- Supervising cleaners and maintenance staff (security aspects only)
- Reporting security risks and incidents to senior personnel
