The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) invites South African graduates to apply for the Research Intern and Monitoring and Evaluation Intern positions for 2026.

Internship Duration: 12 Months
Internship Location: Bedfordview, Johannesburg (Eastern Suburbs), Gauteng, South Africa
Employment Type: Temporary Internship
Stipend: R146 311,80 per annum
Closing Date: 31 January 2026

Research Intern

Role Purpose:
The Research Intern will provide research assistance to researchers and support ongoing research projects within HWSETA.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Honours Degree in Development Studies, Population Studies, Demography, or Statistics

Monitoring and Evaluation Intern

Reference Number: JHB000215

Role Purpose:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will assist with research activities, data analysis, and monitoring and evaluation support for projects within the organisation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Honours Degree in Development Studies, Population Studies, Demography, or Statistics

Key Responsibilities

Successful interns will:

  • Support researchers with data collection and analysis
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Contribute to research reports and project documentation
  • Gain practical experience in research methodologies and public-sector systems
