A manhunt is currently underway in Gauteng after five men were shot dead in broad daylight outside a local tuck shop in Jeffsville on Wednesday.
The attack occurred near Block JV in the Atteridgeville township, west of Pretoria.
According to Gauteng police, a group of unidentified assailants opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services arrived shortly after the discharge, but all five men were declared dead at the scene.
Early reports indicate that at least three of the deceased were foreign nationals.
While formal identification is ongoing, authorities have confirmed that two of the victims were Zimbabwean citizens.
Tshwane District Commissioner, Major General Samuel Thine, visited the site of the shooting to oversee the initial stages of the investigation. He confirmed that forensic teams recovered several 9mm cartridges from the pavement outside the shop.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a high-priority “stabilisation” effort in the area. The investigation has been bolstered by the deployment of Specialised Forensic Science Laboratories, Crime Intelligence unit, and Tactical tracking teams.
Despite the swift deployment of resources, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the killings remains a mystery.
