Purpose of the Programme
As a Learner Artisan (Millwright), you will undergo structured technical and workplace-based training to become a qualified Millwright. The programme focuses on developing practical competence in plant, mine, and equipment maintenance while ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities and Training Areas
Successful learners will be trained to:
- Develop competence in plant, mine, equipment, and system maintenance
- Understand and use plant maintenance documentation systems
- Apply planning and work management systems
- Comply with Safety Management Systems (IMS, MBO, etc.)
- Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments
- Apply emergency procedures and safety protocols
- Read, interpret, and execute task risk assessments
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and morning meetings
- Provide feedback to supervisors on work progress
- Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) and risk assessments
- Maintain housekeeping standards and waste disposal procedures
- Contribute to maintenance strategies and performance improvement
- Participate in quarterly performance reviews and personal development planning
This apprenticeship also promotes teamwork, leadership development, accountability, and continuous learning.
Minimum Education Requirements
To be considered, applicants must have:
- Completed Matric / N3 or equivalent qualification
- Passed Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
- 0–1 year of relevant experience (advantageous but not required)
