Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has extended her well wishes to the matric class of 2025 as learners across the country anxiously await the release of their National Senior Certificate results.
Gwarube will announce the top-performing matriculants and provinces on Monday, 12 January, with individual results scheduled for release on Tuesday, 13 January.
Privacy regulations
The Department of Basic Education has confirmed that results will be published in all accredited newspapers, displaying examination numbers and marks only, without learners’ names, surnames or identity numbers, in line with privacy regulations.

The minister commended the class of 2025 for their perseverance and dedication, saying they should be proud of reaching this milestone.
“To the matric class of 2025, as we anticipate the release of the 2025 matric examination results on Monday, I want to say to you congratulations for coming this far, for your discipline, effort and resilience,” Gwarube said.
Don’t lose heart
She also encouraged learners who may not achieve the results they were hoping for not to lose heart.
“I want to remind you that South Africa is proud of you, and to those who may not have achieved the results they were hoping for, this is not the end of the road or the journey for you. You can try again,” she added.
